CAA Women's Bible Study: Summer 2005

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Mangafanatic » Mon Apr 25, 2005 7:13 am

Evenings will definitely be best for me. I guess that it days might be Fridays and Saturdays, but I'm not really sure about that just yet.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Weeknights are fine for me except for Fridays, because I might have work then. Weekends, too. Not every one, but half the time I don't know my schedule until days before.

look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!â€

Um, I would be interested in the study, however I do have a few problems.

One is that I live in Australia, and am not sure about the availability of the books. I have the money, but we only have a small Christian bookstore near us, and I don't know if it would have the book.

Second is that I live in Australia, and if we are going to have a time to chat together about it, my time zone is going to be completely off for everyone else's. Like my best time to do it would be evenings, but when it's evenings here, it the middle of the night for most people.

So do you think these problems could be overcome?

Well Rita, you could order the book online somewhere, I'm sure a big company like amazon would be able to get it to you. Shipping might be a tad expensive though.

About the time, we are planning on getting underway June 10th at 8:30 CST. If you could not make it because of the time, we are planning to post transcripts, and you could always PM TNC or myself with your questions or comments. We'd be willing to work with you, for sure.

That being said, PLEASE reply to my PM this past week about if the times are ok with you and if you have a book or not. This will help us organize and decide if we need to change times or not--we don't want to leave you behind so please reply ASAP! And if for some reason you did not get a PM, simply drop me one telling me if you have the book or not, and if Fridays at 8:30 Central time will be ok.
