Spongepants Squarebob

Spongebob has to be the most overated catoon on televisionalong with Family Guy. What makes Spongebob so popular? The characters, that`s what. Sandy, mr.krabs, Patrick, Squidward, and Spongebob (of course) and many others. I knew thousands of girls whose favorite character is Sandy about 40 guys who like Patrick the most and plently of older adults that like Mr. Krabs because of his greedy jokes. I personally like Spongebob`s childish behavior while everyone hates Squidward.

Let`s see from the 1999 preimier I knew they would make a movie and then as I got older I thought, "Heck, it would ruin the series". By the time I was 12 it was official, they were making a Spongebob Movie. I couldn`t wait, because i heard they were putting lots of work into it. Then again, for most Nickleodeon movies they make one movie for a series and it flops and they make a sequel and it rocks. Best example is the Fairly Oddparents but im not going to get into that.

I saw the movie and stared at the screen blanky when the credits rolled in.
"That`s it?! What the...."

I tried my hardest to find out what it lacked. For a Spongebob movie it had a good plot -check-, Good Jokes -Meh-, Characters -Barely anything-

For those of you who watched the movie all those Sandy fangirls got ticked off seeing Sandy three times in which two lines escaped her buck teeth. And Mr. Krabs had one money joke and it was probably the most realistic one ever.

Announcer: Eugene krabs....
K: I like Money
A: What inspired you to bould the Krusty Krab 2 right next to the first one.
K: Money.

People who dislike patrick will see him in almost everything with only one funny stupid remark. And the David Hasslhof thing was alot more funny in the commercials.
And what`s with King Neptune?
Last episode he was in he was a mighty ruler with huge muscles and in this move he was buck teeh and a dorkey nose.

Guys, watch the 15 minute shows and avoid half hour specials and the movie and the spongebob videogame for the PS1. They all stink (besides the Christmas halfhour special). But if you loved the SpongeBob Houseparty you`ll love the movie. Lame jokes, parts where you try to get yourself to sleep, and yet it gets praised.....heh, movies based on series these days.

I played the demo for the spongebob game. Don't get it! It is really boring and the glitch( I hope they fixed it) I found was that you can't get in the water, but if you find a hole in the game, you can get underneath...

I totally agree. I went into this Nickelodeon production of a disjointed children's cartoon expecting top-notch characterization and what do I get? The same upbeat, oddball freak parade that was promised by both the movie trailers and the show itself! Talk about false advertising!

The show was really funny when it first came out. I watched it with my brother, and loved Squidward (my friend loves imitating him on her clarinet) and Patrick. But then, there was too much merchandise, and it lost it's appeal. When the movie came out I was really disappointed...it was lacking something, and there were only two good scenes in the movie that I laughed at.

Yeah, I honestly think Family Guy is the funniest cartoon on television.

If you disagree, that's kewl, but let me remind you of this.

Family Guy is the ONLY television show in history to ever be resurrected from cancellation.

Whether it's overrated or not, it was the best-selling TV-based DVD of 2003. Its skyrocketing ratings on Cartoon Network prompted Fox to repurchase the rights to it.

So you may think it's overrated, but apparently the majority of America disagrees with you. :P

I have seen enough of the show to know that I have no interest in seeing the movie.

From the parts of the show i did see there were some funny moments, but not enough to produce much more than a chuckle. I will stick to King of the Hill and Family Guy, thank you very much.

I won't say it's "good" that it is not on TV in South Africa - you should be able to watch it and make up your own mind. But I don't think you're missing much.

Family Guy would be much better if it focused more on the dog and the kid. The rest of the family is just too hard for me to take.

But that's the thing about comedy. It's the hardest genre to excel in because are tastes differ so much.
