Please pray for my family

Postby anime4christ » Sat Apr 09, 2005 11:25 am

My uncle and grandma (mom's side) and my aunt (dad's side) are a bad influence on my dad. My dad has always been a kinda grouchy person and we had to put up with him. But he's getting worse, and he's yelling at my mom every day now. A few days ago he yelled at my mom for something that happened a few years ago! It's really hard on my mom, sometimes when he's yelling I'll start arguing with him so that he starts taking it out on me and leaves my mom alone for a while. So please pray for us. Thanks.

Bad influence, in what ways? that's if you don't mind me asking...

Anyways, I will defiantly be praying for you. I hope things get better.

My dad didn't yell Sunday and Monday, but my mom felt pretty bad. Tuesday went all right, but today he kinda started up again. :(

My dad seems to be doing better now. Thank you guys for your prayers. Please pray for my (oldest) brother also, usually when he comes over, it makes things worse. He drinks, smokes, and he most likely still has contact with my grandma, the one metioned a the top. Thanks all.

Please pray so that brother stops coming over, cuz he keeps turning my dad against my mom. He wants to talk my dad into leaving us and all kinds of stuff. Basically he makes my dad go crazy after every visit. So please pray, thank you.

My dad's looking at younger women and he's really going crazy (he's got mental problems, btw). He doesn't really seem to want to do anything for Mothers' Day. I see my mom crying almost every day. My dad thinks he's Mr. SuperHoly. Please pray for him to realize that this is wrong and that he should love his wife. Please pray for our family not to fall apart (my parents have been together for 25 years, btw). Thank you.

I don't think taking advise from a message board is wise in a case like this save for the fact that it appears that your family needs professional help in counseling. You also need support spiritually in this matter so I would point you and your mother to your pastor who in turn will also be able to assist your family in getting the help you need. With all due respect, hiring private detectives can only add to the division in your situation. Instead of spending money on that, spend it on a good Christian counselor. And if you feel that you cannot afford it financially, there are counselors who rate their payments according to family income. Again, your pastor will have this information. While your father may be resistant to that, you and your mother can still benefit from it to help you through this. And regardless of what statistics show, if all involved are willing, families can still be preserved. Statistics have a way of discouraging people into a sense of hopelessness. But there is hope in Christ and my prayers are with you.

Volt, first of all this is a prayer forum. Not an advice column. I realize advice may come with the territory, but its first and foremost job is to alert people to the needs of others that they can fulfill in prayer.

Secondly, if you feel like giving advice, make sure it is sound, Godly advice, and preferrably in a situation YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH. I don't know all of your family history, but I can say--having dealing with family members who are difficult--that your advice would have made the situation worse. As Rev Doc pointed out, there are better alternatives than "smacking some sense into him" or "Be strict and open and tell him what a bad job he's doing". That is not her role; that is her mother or pastor's job.

So to get straight to the point: more prayer, less unneccessary, unwise advice. Why am I being so stringent about this? Because this is the forum that has the most potential to truly change peoples lives, for the better or worse. Prayer is an incredible powerful tool, and advice is too.

Thank you all for the prayers, he's doing somewhat better now, please keep praying. As I've mentioned before, he has a mental history, so I believe part of it is from that. Sorry Ashley for the misleading avatar, I'm a guy, I just put Firefox-ko there because I like and use Mozilla Firefox.
