Now Online:
1. The annoying "slight problem" errors are off now. Let me know if you see any error from here out.
2. (I'm sure the most exciting for many of you) - ATTACHMENTS ARE WORKING AGAIN! I'm still not certain why vb relies on certain php functions, but whatever.
3. Email notification for Private Messages, Subscriptions and new user Reg are back online.
4. New user registration is on again.
5. CSS moved to filesystem for optimum performance. This should result in up to a 50% increase in speed for some of you. (Dial up users will notice this more, probably).
Still offline:
1. Signatures. This is actually due to bandwidth concerns, more than anything else.
2. DNS issues are not resolved. If all goes as planned, we'll have the name servers updated, so everything will function better.
3. Video Game reviews system. (Bet you forgot I was working on that one, didn't you? )
Azier the Swordsman wrote:I noticed when I returned that people were using some extremely humoungous sigs..... this wasn't much of an issue to me, just slightly annoying having to scroll down through all that. Maybe should be some way of limiting sig size when they are running again?
Mave wrote:I don't really understand this. Why is it undesirable to have signatures? Is it sucking bandwidth? I doubt this since I host my own signatures. Is it slowing down the download time or is it messing up the database system somehow?
oldphilosopher wrote:Yeah... But there are THOUSANDS of you people. Do you have any idea how much time it would take us to police that...? We would tell people, "Don't upload a sig that's 256K or we'll break your knees." That didn't work. People just don't read the rules. If (as mave does) everyone hosted their sigs elsewhere, then we wouldn't have an issue - but not everyone will/does. At the moment, however, I haven't thrown much research time into this one, honestly. I'll see if I can set it up so that users can host but not upload graphics. I'll let you know what I come up with.
