I think I'm the only Aussie chick in this place... anyway, I've been eyeing off this place for awhile now, and have finally worked up the courage to make a post ;)

Question away fellow CAAers!! (be nice!)

Have you ever been to a Planetshakers concert?
If you wanted to see echidnas, would you go to the Grampians National Park in Victoria?

Some of the stuff you like is so similar to me! Your like a girl version of me! Okay, that was weird. I'm leaving before I dig a hole to China.

Where did you get your avatar? I've been admiring it for a while. I think it's one of the coolest ones I've ever seen, the art looks very gorgeous ^_^

You mean Talame doesn't have blue hair in real-life or walk around with her eyes closed, kissing a sword handle or playing a wooden flute? (or whatever that thing is) Oh.

Oo, and I just noticed that you like Hitchhiker's Guide! Sweet! Do you think the upcoming movie is going to be any good? Regardless, I'll so be there on the opening night, with my towel.

I also seem to remember you mentioning Lost as a fave TV show. You seem to have very excellent taste ;)

Ok, no I've never been to a Planetshakers concert (I dont really like concerts... to crowded). I haven't the foggiest what Grampians is like, but I think I'd rather go to the Canberra zoo cause you get to pet the cheetahs.

I was also noticing that we have alot in common. Aussies rock!! ]Where did you get your avatar? I've been admiring it for a while. I think it's one of the coolest ones I've ever seen, the art looks very gorgeous ^_^
I've had it for awhile, and didnt know what it came from until a month or so ago. Apparently its from something called "Y's"
I have several pretty pics from it, which I got from minitoyko. Unfortunately, it seems to be down otherwise I'd give you the adress.

:P I do sometimes!! ;) haha
EDIT: btw, it is a wooden flute ;)

I LOVE Hitchhikers Guide :P I'm not too sure bout the movie, but I will definitely see it... Marvin is different to what I imagined him to be, but thats ok. I'm glad that they chose that voice actor to do him (cant remember the guys name at the mo, but he's in Robin Hood Prince of Theives and Sense and Sensibility)

Lost is great too! But please dont say anything bout it, cause Australia is behind in the episodes. Last week was the first one centred around Sahib.

Poor Sayid. Hitchhiker's Guide are a great trilogy of four. Isn't Red Dwarf like a more adult concept version of it?

Red Dwarf is slightly different. I've seen a few episodes, and the cat is my fav character, followed very closely by the main character
(the one who is actually alive)
'tis Alan Rickman (who will always be Snape in my eyes) playing the voice of Marvin, I'm so happy they managed to get him! :jump:

I don't mind the movie design for him, but then again, I never really have strong mental images of the characters whenever I'm reading a book. At the very least, I think that he will be very good at looking very sad/pathetic/morose/any other word for depressed, what with those huge eyes

What are your favorite parts/lines from the Hitchhiker's Guide? I've actually only read to the halfway point in the third book, but I love the chapter with the chesterfield chasing scene. I was also pretty giddy over the Guide entries on the art of flying and the Great Circling poets of Arium, as well as Number Two's fighting behavior. It's so hard to pick though, the whole thing is pretty consistently funny and bizzare

Oo, I see, I promise I'll be careful not to babble and spoil anything

Hmm, I'm trying to think of some more random questions..

Has anyone asked about your music tastes yet? 'cause if not, what are your fave bands and music genres?

Can you play any instruments?

Do you have a major Aussie accent? Though I suppose that you would probably think that I have a very Canadian accent (I even use 'eh' pretty often), so maybe that question is all relative..

Do you have any siblings?

Or any pets?

On the slightly more serious side, how long have you been a Christian? And what led you to it, how did it happen?

firstly, no not that I can remember.
My fav bands/singers are:
Nicole Nordeman
Thousand Foot Krutch
Michael W Smith
Mercy Me
Bond
Third Day

My fav genre is generally Christian rock

Can you play any instruments?

:P I used to be able to play the recorder... had to learn for school you understand ;) But now I'm out of school, I've let those skills deteriorate steadily

Do you have a major Aussie accent? Though I suppose that you would probably think that I have a very Canadian accent (I even use 'eh' pretty often), so maybe that question is all relative..

'eh' isn't actually limited to Canada. NEw Zealanders say it alot, and since I have Kiwi relations, I say it as well. And yes, I have an Australian accent (atleast I think I do... when i lived in the states they said I did). Actually, my 'accent' is very strange, cause I've lived all over the place (dad in defence force = moving around alot). HEnce, I have mixtures of South Australian, Queensland, NSW, Kiwi and American. :P (not much american anymore... I just say 'trash' instead of 'garbage bin' ;) )

Do you have any siblings?
Yes, one older brother. He is older by two years, and he has a job at a calling centre.
Or any pets?
Yes!!! My bubsy Tilly!!! (she's a cat) *glomps Tilly*

On the slightly more serious side, how long have you been a Christian? And what led you to it, how did it happen?
Ooo strewth... let's see. I think the first time I asked Jesus into my life was when I was around 3-5, because I was watching a Christian sing-a-long :P
If I were a butterfly! I'd thank you God for giving me wings :P

However, I rededicated my life to him when I was around 14

James Herriot. I love all his stories!! Also Frank E Perreti, Tolkien, Ted Dekker and Stephen Lawhead.

I love James Herriot too! I love the story with him and the kid who loved birds but had asthma and that beautiful ending. I dont want to give the ending away in case you haven't read that book yet. ^_^ Can't remember which one it was in though. Frank.E.Perreti, yeah, he wrote those really cool book... 'This Present Darkness' series, right? Those were thrilling. O_O If you like James Herriot, you might want to try 'My family and other animals', 'A zoo in my luggage', 'Rosie is my relative' and others -they're written by Gerald Durrel, only I'm not sure about the spelling of his name so you might want to search by those titles. Another one of his books might've been 'Friends and Friendly Beasts'. It's like James Herriot's novels, and exceptionally funny and heart-warming. What sort of stories does Ted Dekker write? I really like Lawhead's writing too.
Whoot! Someone who likes so many of the books I like! ^_^ *feels so happy*
Yeah, we kiwis say 'eh' a lot, eh? ^_^ Like the French put 'hein?' at the end of their sentences to mean the same thing. Though strewth is definitely just Australian.
I like Aussies -probably because I love the friendly competition between our two countries (though some ppl probably take it too far) and also I have two older brothers who are from the land of Oz.

Hmm... some questions... questions... well, can't think of any great ones, but:
What's your favourite Australian zoo?
What's your favourite Australian theme park?
Is the Sydney harbour bridge way bigger than the Auckland harbour bridge?

Actually, I dont think I've ever read that story before. My fav stories (there are so many!) either involve cats, dogs, Tristan or Seigfreid
O!! My ABSOLUTE fav story is the one about this old poor guy with athritis. James, when treating his dog, didn't ask for any payment. Seigfreid saw it, and told him off. But when the old guy came back the next time Seigfreid was the one at work, and he gave the old guy 100 free tablets, a few quid AND a ride to his house all for free

What sort of stories does Ted Dekker write? I really like Lawhead's writing too.

Ted Dekker writes tonnes of different stories. I really liked his Circle trilogy (Black, Red, White). All his books differ so much that its really hard to put a box round him

I like Aussies -probably because I love the friendly competition between our two countries (though some ppl probably take it too far) and also I have two older brothers who are from the land of Oz.

Haha! Friendly competition? DIE ALL BLACKS DIE!!!!
 Yeah, I love it too ]
What's your favourite Australian zoo?
Never really been to one to tell the truth :(

What's your favourite Australian theme park?

I've only been to 4: Wonderland, Dreamworld, Movie world and Sea World. I think my fav would be Dreamland, but I havent been there since I was really really young though ;)

Is the Sydney harbour bridge way bigger than the Auckland harbour bridge?
errrm....
<.<

When in doubt, smile and nod your head   ;)

I can vaguely remember that, I think; but I read the books a while ago so I don't know if I read that exact book or not. I think I liked the one about him taking the cattle overseas though.
Haha! Friendly competition? DIE ALL BLACKS DIE!!!!
Yeah, I love it too Kiwiland is so pretty, and you guys have the funniest accents hehehe

Go All-blacks! I can't remember what it is, but I think it's the regional teams (like the Auckland Blues. -Um... whoot?) from NZ that seem to suffer during those rugby matches. But the international one we seem to do all right. Possibly because a lot of Tongans, Samoans, and other well-built Pacific Islanders swell our ranks. ^_^ Something like that anyway. I generally keep quiet on the whole rugby team unless the NZ team wins and then I get all happy like everyone else. ^_^ Other than that, I guess I don't take much interest in rugby -although I find it a far more exciting game than heaps of others on TV to watch. I mean... cricket. If it's a slow game, it's practically unbearable for me to watch. -__-
Heh heh; I prefer the Kwassie accent myself. I just think it's fun to listen to other people's accents, since I'm immune to the strangeness of the kiwi accent. I also really like other languages -be they different sounding English accents, or French accents and French words, or Chinese... etc.

errrm....
<.<
>.>
When in doubt, smile and nod your head

That nodding and smiling can get you in trouble, you know... what if someone suddenly shouted out 'can I have your cap' and you continued to nod and smile? Eh. That was a pretty lame example -lacks interest, a point, and most of all, randomness. *Shrugs* I must be having an off-day... ;)

I don't like cricket either, unless it is one day  But I'd say that Rugby is my favourite game to watch definitely. Though the scrums get annoying (esp since they are so stinking purposeless!!!)

My favourite languages to listen to (and not understand what they are saying) would be German, Japanese and French. German because... well... does anyone else besides me LOVE inspector Rex?

Haha, I know ;) But you must admit, on the whole it is quite effective esp since it makes whoever asking the questions quite unnerved. Afterall, it would look like you are either nodding to shut em up or planning something unpleasant in that devious mind of yours

What do you think of us Americans overall?

Oooch... I doubt you'll be too happy with the answer. I lived in the States for 3 years, and... well... I was very happy to be home again let's just say that

But seriously, I had some awesome Yankie friends. I just dont like the Americans view on pretty much everything.
1) In alot of shows with the president, they refer to him as 'the leader of the free world'.... PUH-LEASE
2) Lamb is so expensive over there!! O_O
3) An american came up to me and asked "What part of the British empire are you from". I think that sums up most Americans ignorance of the world.
I think I shall leave it here for the moment ]
What is the Ultimate Question to the Ultimate Answer of 47?
Let me just ask my handy Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy....

Who is your favorite Anime or Manga Character and Why?

hmmmm I don't really know. Probably Duo or Zechs from Gundam Wing; Duo cause he looks cool, is really funny and has a detailed history. Zechs cause... well... he looks cool! ;)

I haven't actually seen or read that much anime/manga. Here is the list:

ANIME
Gundam Wing
Gundam SEED
Lain
FMP (OOO!! Sagara is also a fav character too, cause he's just so clueless!)
Half of Gunparade March
Scryed (again, half of)
Half of FMA (stopped watching for moral issues)

MANGA
Tinsy bit of Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
first 2 volumes of +anima (great btw, really cute)
a few volumes of Fruits Basket (I think my fav character from this would be the cat... or the dog :P.. NO! THE RABBIT! hes so cute  )

Hiya Talame! Nice to meet ya (again). Since you like rock, do you by any chance know why it's so popular? (See my thread: Who doesn't like rock?). Only 2 ppl here don't (one of them is me)...oops! Ahh! The rockers are after me! *runs away*

Nah, dont be worried matie... I'll protect you!! GARRRRRRR
Anyway, I used to be very very anti-rock. I guess my tastes just changed when I grew older. I don't really know why it is popular, except maybe that it makes good listening to when you are angry or excited. With alot of rebellious teens out tere, I'd say that many of them would turn to rock music when their parents are "getting on their backs".

I like listening to music when coming up with ideas for a manga I might be doing. Of course, different music = different types of ideas. I listen to rock if I want to come up with a fight scene, but softer music for everything else (and really lubby-dubby slow music for touching scenes).

If you think about it, it would be extremely hard to come up with a romantic scene with POD or Thousand Foot Krutch blaring into your ear eh? ;) You'd probably end up with someone slapping the other, or a cat fight ensuing. However, if you listen to slow soppy music while coming up with a fight scene, almost everyone dies!!

lol, I can do almost anything with dance music playing, any scene in my manga, music just doesn't seem to affect me as much, but I see what you're saying, I'll agree. You know, maybe rave or techno hardcore might work for a fighting scene, lol. Thing is, all psychologists say that rock is bad for you, it sorta messes up you nervous system. There was an expirement where a group of rats listened to classical music (nothing happened) and another group listened to rock. The ones who listened to rock killed each other.

Euh... vegemite... I prefer Marmite. Although vegemite's okay with cheese, I find it bland. Marmite's way saltier; so I prefer that. Apparently you have to smuggle... well, ok, import, marmite to get it into the UK... and I guess you could sell it for a mint to a homesick kwaussie.
