I remember playing Descent 1 (or 2?) before bed and dreaming all night about flying through darkened tunnels while shooting robots. Or if I worry about a meeting the next day, I may dream that I am at that meeting.

Descent! Man, I remember playing that at 6 or 8 years old. Actually, it was my brother (about 1 year older than me) playing them while CreatureArt and I watched. It was hard enough trying to find the reactor and blow it up, but then find the exit before the time runs out? -_- *shakes head* But I really used to love that guidebot guy. You end up losing him half the time, but he's so cute! All those bleepy sounds... ^_^ I played Descent 3 a while ago, and I loved hitting stuff (especially the guidebot) with flares  But yeah the walls in the first game, when you go back and play it again, seem to have really weird colours, eh?

[quote="kawaiineko"]as for dreams... I think I dream in color O.o]

Oi, I understand. I hate bad dreams especially; some nightmares I've had have really freaked me out. Until I got the skill which I sometime use but sometimes forget about -waking myself up. If I'm in the dream and remember I'm dreaming, I try really hard to open my eyes, and sometimes it works -I open my eyes and wake up. The worst dream I've had wasn't so much because it was bad, but just because of what happened: in this dream I knew that as soon as I got to the bottom of the river there was some sort of evil fish thingie that was going to get me (for some reason I often know when things are going to go bad -not always tho). Anyway I woke myself up, then went back to sleep shortly after. And I ended up right where I was before I woke up -only closer to the fish. I kept waking myself up and going back to sleep to find myself in this dream about one or two more times. Then I just made myself stay awake a little longer before going back to sleep again -which is what I do now if I have a bad dream.

I wonder if people with big imaginations had weirder dreams?

Talame, once again, is the voice of wisdom that I should have had my whole life. Moderation is key. I was assigned to write a short autobiography of my life about a week ago, and while I was writing it I discovered something shocking: I can barely remember anything that happened to me while I was in the third and fourth grades. I remember a few select images and emotions, and who my teachers were, but aside from that, there is nothing. It scared me, because it wasn't very long ago. What I realized, after much thought, was that those years I had spent inside my head. The memories I have are of the hours I spent talking to my friends in my imaginary world. It is a sincere wish of mine that no one puts the imaginary world ahead of the real one. I did, and now part of my life is gone.

Most fortunately, in the fifth grade I had a friend who broke me out of my introverted shell- to her I am forever grateful. So now I am a crazy, passionate extrovert on a mission to save all those who have not fully experienced the real world around them. YAY!!! :jump:

Three cheers for Talame and her most excellent wisdomosity!

ohhhhh YES, if I didn't have my own little worlds *yes, I said world"s", I have quite a few of them* I'd probly go crazy. I'm a class B introvert *I say class B cuz' I'm outgoing around my family, and around other people too if I'm in the right mood, but that happens verry rarely cuz' I'm verry shy* and EXTREMELY right brained, so I rely on my imagination to keep me company, which works pretty well cuz' I'm good at keeping myself company. I have 'but over 100 differantly worlds I've made up in my mind, along with verry interesting characters *LOTS of them* in which I'd cry if I ever forgot any of them. I'm fairly decent at drawing. . . sometimes *I could do so much better dangit >.<*. and I SO wish I could take people inside my head with me so I could show them all my friends! XD *Me: and this is Rame, and Trake, and Juliette, and Karlle, and Joah, and Maire. . . (goes on and on)* and I love writing down the stories I make with them. I'm also EXTREMELY over dramatic, so I'm good at getting into a character's personality just to satisfy my over-dramatic-impulse-energy, it's SO much fun to be somone else lol.

and in the area of dreams. . . well. . . I dream in a cartoon style *not like, cartoony, but like, anime, only more realistic* And being over dramatic, and somewhat of a weirdo *you wouldn't be able to tell in real life, but yes, I'm am in fact weird* my dreams are usually crazy and non-sensible, and USUALLY just a jumble of emotion. but when I do have really clear dreams, they're extremely realistic and vivid, and usually have a spiritual meaning *usually happens with my online friends or people from my church and sometimes my family* or solve an emotional problem I'd been having *which turns out to be extremely helpfull* or problems with my friends *which are all online, so that makes it harder*. So yeah. .. I don't usually have nightmares, thank you God, but the one I do scare the crud out of me, cuz' they're usually vivid >.<

It might be funny to say this, but I've experience the most vivid dreams after eating fish before bedtime (or taking fish oil supplements). For some reason, there is something in fish that helps you relax and have dreams you can remember for ages.

As I look around the posts, it seems like I'm the only one that creates his own "world" using characters that already exist. I guess I'm probably the least imaginative among the bunch here. ;)

I have an entire world of characters I've made up, including other races and customs, and cultures... actually a few different worlds too... including earth. ^^; I'm writing a story using them, but they always show up in my own little daydream world too.

Ah, I guess I missed that part. :)

But I personally like to bring out characters that I know and love and integrate their personalities into the world. I guess I've made my own personas before, but it seems much more fun to daydream about characters that already exist.

I know whatcha mean. I have a definitely have quite a few original characters running through my mind, but they all seem to be aspects of me, which can get a little repetitive. For that reason, I like dragging preexisting characters and worlds into my daydreams and musings, to shake things up. They just somehow seem a little more real to me, since they came from someone elses' mind (an outside source). Not to sounds crazy or anything, but they tend to be less predictable, you never quite know what thier going to do

That sounds just like Morpheus! ß-)

That's pretty wild that two years could have disappeared like that for you. Can you remember what went on in your imaginary world during that time? Yes, Talame is on the money about balance - a proper balance is very important in all areas of life.

Ya, the Guidebot rox! Always there when you need him - a faithful friend. Well, except when he shoots you with a flare when you've got 2 points of shield... So I guess you're forgiven for hitting him a few times with flares in D3 - payback. ß-) Ya, D1 and D2 have some pretty brightly coloured walls. They musta had some wacko interior decorator in to spruce up the mines!

Yeah- I read the whole Anne of Green Gables series around then, along with some Rudyard Kipling, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Predain Series (Black Cauldron, etc...). We had quite a few adventures together, my friends and I... I'd spend hours upon hours coming up with things we could do together, and then, before bed, I would chat with them until I fell asleep. When Anne's first child died, I cried and held a memorial service for her- Aslan knew just what to say to comfort all of us. Kinda creepy, looking back on it. I was weird. :stressed:

FoCL,HHRH,GUAaRHBSBoC (<-don't try and pronounce that. You might hurt yourself. Or someone might hear you, put you in a padded room and you'd never hurt yourself again) What it means is: Falls off chair laughing, hits head really hard, gets up again and rubs head before sitting back on chair. Well, that didn't happen, but you really did make me 'lol'. Isn't it annoying when he flares you right on the windscreen?

I have different world ideas in my head but I only tend to really 'explore' either other people's worlds (from books etc), or stick in one or two worlds I've made up, or just explore different ones for a moment before going on. I guess it's because I find it hard to keep a lot in my head at once. There are also times I can make things almost photo-real, but mostly I imagine stuff in a kind of blur. I actually don't sink into my head as much now; I don't want to get trapped there, and luckily I am more occupied at the moment -since CAA came along :thumb: .

Maybe (actually coming back to the topic of your previous post, I think it was), that's why I can hardly remember anything from ages 6-10. Maybe it was because some other things were going on though.
Maybe it is weird; maybe not. It's hard to say, since we don't know what goes on inside other people's threads (lol! I mean heads ). But you're not the first to pull people from different stories, cartoons etc together in your head. Maybe that's why I so liked the batman/superman team up stories  .
Before this thread I only had two people I had ever really talked about these sort of things with before, and I hardly told them anything. I had actually wondered if others did the same things I did (imagining in depth, etc) and wanted to find out but wasn't sure how, in case I felt odd that I was the only one that did it.

Own little universe, eh?

I was once diagnosed with ADD, but the medication they gave me didn't have any effect, so I stopped taking it. I didn't think I had a problem to begin with. But that may explain some things.

While I've never had 'imaginary friends,' I have a tendency to think up cartoons in my head. They are usually based on the thing that I'm currently interested/obsessed with *recieves wierd glances from everyone who has been traumatized by my Furuba concoctions*. I often imagine characters I make up, though often, I would take a certain character from something or another and give him/her a different name, occupation, and attitude while keeping just the appearance. (In fact, I once imagined Yuki Sohma as a maestro in Arnis. And he was dang good too).

I don't know if that's an alternate universe but, hey, good enough for government work, I guess.

I know what you mean, I thought that I was the only one who did this (which is why I started this thread. ;) ). But in a sense, it's maybe because I love these characters so much that I had to sort of "extend" them into my own thinking. I know that if a series or show is over, nothing else is going to happen to the characters unless you improvise a little. When I was younger, my imagination really went wild and I had so much fun with it as a kid. But as I got older and realized how much different reality is now, I sort of needed the escapism to balance the otherwise "harsh" world out there.
