Griff's race to finish

Postby Golden_Griff » Sat Apr 16, 2005 11:57 am

Ugh....

Okay, there's two issues (again):

#1--Finishing all projects/papers on time

There's only one week of classes and one week of exams left in the year...and like 6 or 7 different things that has to be done before then.

Can someone say bogged down? :eh:

I'm really believing hard that everything will be done at the time that it's due. But as I said, there's a lot and...whew...Griff can't afford a lot of time to lolly gag! I really need strength to press on and stay focused so I can get things done.

#2--Summer School

My second and bigger issue right now is whether or not to attend summer school. Not because I have to but because it may be beneficial for me regarding advanced coursework and added credits.

I prayed about this this morning, asking God to show me what would be the best thing to do. Unfortunately, I was trying to hear His response but I don't know whether I was hearing Him or myself ( "Griff be quiet!" :bang: )

Long during advisement week I decided to take a summer course, particularly intermediate printmaking, to get some extra credit hours to ensure that i graduate on time. But after going to see if I could receive any financial aid yesterday (which I can't :shady: ) I'm not sure what to make of things. Well, here's the pros and cons I've been trying to balance out:

Reasons to go
  • take intermediate printmaking over summer, go into advanced course in fall, making it possible for me to do a senior show in that area
  • get an extra 3 credit hours to add to my transcript without having to take extra "filler" courses (I need 16 in one semester and 17 in the other; I'm thinking this summer course will take care of that)
  • the intermediate course over the summer is more independent study, which (I think) makes things more relaxed; no other classes to worry about

Reasons not to go
  • summer school takes money, approximately 600-700 dollars
  • Loans are out of the picture (neither want nor is eligible for one) so I'll have to pay out of my pockets (unless the Lord provides in some other way)
  • the application for financial "aid" for summer school was due LAST friday--a sign that told me to not bother with summer school
  • God provided a way for me to NOT HAVE to go for some other purpose, so maybe I shouldn't go for anything else

Ugh...decisions decisions :shake:...

Well, first off, I'll pray that you can get things done this school year and with success.

Now, as for summer school: I've been there, done that. I did the same thing so that I could graduate within four years, and I did summer school for the past three summers. You're right: there are a lot of great things about it, but the one bad thing is the money. It's expensive and it's usually out-of-pocket.

God may have already answered your question (maybe, maybe not): if the money is provided, then go ahead and do it. If not, then there's something else planned for you; if nothing else, maybe just a summer off from school.

Of course, I could be wrong, but if I were in your shoes, that's how I would handle the situation. But I will pray that God will speak to you and lead you toward His decision for your summer! :thumb: Good luck!

I will definitely pray for you, Griffie. *hugs* ^____^

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Thanks ( ._.)

Right now I'm thinking of not going to summer school--to save myself all the trouble of registering and scraping up the money to cover funds, etc. I mean I don't even have to do this afterall. :stressed:

On other matters...:bang:

I feel like crying right now, because I have yet again screwed up a weekend doing more time-wasting than something productive towards my academic work. Although I did manage to get SOMETHING done, it's not enough for me to say "whoa, I really worked my tail off! :thumb:."

grrrr...me and my addictions/procrastination/laziness :comp:...

*really hates the procrastinating Griff that is a part of her* :bootout:

Pulled in too many directions

*looks over Prayer threads*

Lord God, please see to our needs :( ...

Man, I almost feel stupid putting this here seeing that there are more serious issues but...I'm just another person seeking encouragement as well I guess.

I'm still wrestling over summer school, especially because I am faced with yet another dilemma.

Last weekend I finally came to the conclusion that I wouldn't go to summer school to take an extra course. However, I am now facing the possibility of going to summer school to finish my ceramics course (I still have a big load of stuff to finish). I really really really didnt want to have to go in June but after Wednesday I felt more at peace with that decision instead of getting stressed out and rushing to get things done at the last moment.

But then I was talking with a family friend today about my plans for the summer and the whole thing about going in May for printmaking came up again. I really wanted to do my senior show in printmaking but...*heavy sigh* I just don't know! Either way you look at it, if I decide/have to go to summer school those funds are going to be taken from my pockets (unless God provides another way).

Besides that, I still haven't completed my two papers for my presentations, still got a lot to do in ceramics (which may be best handled in that summer course afterall), and on top of all that there's the finals.
