Something I should have shared earlier

Postby Ingemar » Fri Apr 08, 2005 8:27 pm

I should have told someone as soon as I heard, but I didn't. But God must have put this on my heart. As you may or may not know, I visited Scarborough after Christmas to visit my aunt who was ailing from breast cancer.

Fast forward to roughly two weeks ago. She has had her operation (mastectomy, I believe), but it did not get rid of the cancer. Now, she must undergo radiation + chemotherapy.

Please pray for her!

Will do, Ingemar. Tell us how it goes, okay?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Because I often forget things, I hope you don't mind if I post a prayer here.

Lord, there's much I don't know but I just ask you please to be very close to Ingemar's aunt, and those around here Please comfort, protect, and cover them with your peace and your love. Lord, I also pray that you'd turn back this cancer; that every piece of cancer in Ingemar's aunt's body will shrivel and die and not spread; that it would be completely destroyed. Lord, for my part, I place her and those around her in your hands and ask you to take the very best care of them. Thank you Lord that whatever happens, I know we can trust you; that you are good and see far beyond what we see. Thank you also that you are able to heal, and to also work in the lives of us and those around us. Thank you for who you are Lord. Please bless this family. I ask this in Jesus name, amen. Thank you Lord.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She had to go through chemo too, but she did very well. If you like I can forward some stuff to you from my mother about what she did to get through it. She credits her remarkable recovery to prayers, a support group, and some aroma therapy to counteract some symptoms of the chemo. Your aunt is in my prayers for sure.

I too will be praying for your mothers recovery. I hope that God also gives the whole family the strenght to get through this ordeal.
