CAA Women's Bible Study: Summer 2005

Postby Ashley » Sun Apr 10, 2005 8:36 pm

Announcement for Young Ladies Summer Bible Study

We are planning a Bible study, once again, for the young ladies of CAA. This thread is to sign up those interested and to give some information and answer questions for you who are interested in participating this time around. It will be held this summer, beginning June 5th, a Monday, and will end around August 14th.

Last time, we all enjoyed walking through the life of John, the Beloved Disciple of Jesus Christ and it was a wonderful experience. ^_______^ This time around, I will be joining True_Noir_Chloe as co-leader, which I'm very excited about.

We will do another Beth Moore study, since the last one seemed such a success and we’ve decided on a study on the Fruits of the Spirit, based in Galatians, and it is a study entitled, “Living Beyond Yourself.â€

I've enjoyed the Beth Moore books that I've started to read. The little bits of the study I saw the last time seemed really good too. :) My schedule's way more open now than before, so I *should* be able to participate.

I just need to find a Christian bookstore and track the book down.

It's great to see you're interested, Arbre. ^___^ Let me know if you need help finding the book and I'll see what I can do.

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I'm very interested in being a part. I haven't done this one yet!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Great! I'm really looking forward to it. I saw that there were a couple of different printing years for the workbooks. Which one do we need to get?

It'd probably be hard to get anything but the first one. . .

Comment on the workbook

Postby true_noir_chloe » Mon Apr 11, 2005 10:18 am

It's great to see so much interest. I want to make sure you all realize this is NOT the hardcover book, which her studies are usually sold as, this is the WORKBOOK - an 81/2x11 book which you can actually write down your thoughts and answer questions within. So please, I'd hate to see any of you waste your money and buy the wrong book. ^__^;;; Of course, you are welcome to buy the hardcover if they have one available.

Now, for those who cannot afford the book, please pm me or Ashley and we can probably work something out.;)

Now, the name of the actual workbook is, Living Beyond Yourself Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit, by Beth Moore. It is published by Lifeway Church Resources and the ISBN # is 0-63319380-1.

I hope this helps with some of the questions you've raised.

As the date approaches in June, we will let you know more and even have a thread started and stickied in the Bible section of CAA. For now, this thread is to find out who is interested in the study and to make sure you all get the workbooks in time for the study so we can start it June 5th.

We wanted to give everyone a fair amount of time to see if they]way we will conduct the actual study, it should work like this:

The workbook is split up into weeks; Day one, you cover a certain amount of Scripture, read and pray, Day Two, you do the same, Day Three and so on. It is set up in Five Day increments (20-40 minutes of Bible/prayer time a day), which is the one week. Altogether the study is a 10-week course. Thus, you are covering 50 days of deep Bible study and prayer.

Funny, I never thought about that in past studies, it really goes by quickly. *hehe*

Anyway, at the end of each week's worth of time alone with God we get together in a chat room and discuss what we've learned and have a time of prayer and sharing. It is usually a two-hour long chat room session, because everyone likes to talk - especially me. Our chats, many times, ran much longer.

I hope that helps. Please ask me if you need further clarification.^______^

I'd be interested in participating as well. I'll have no problems finding the workbook. Here is a thought about the women who want to do it, but can't find/ can't afford to get a book. If it's not against copyright laws, you could probably scan the pages and turn them into pdf files using Adobe Acrobat reader or like software. Also, those of you over 18, or with parents who have accounts, could look on E-bay, Half.com, or Amazon.com. Might be able to find it cheaper on one of these sites, not to mention it could be a help for anyone who has trouble finding the book. Just a thought.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

No problem; PM me some contact info (and given your age, your mom's email address if possible) and we'll get one to you.

quick question: would this be once a week, a few days a week, daily, or what?

Well, we would meet once a week at a set time, but from what I understand you would have homework every day.

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner. ^__^;; We will use either AIM or YIM, as for as I know. I may have to ask Ashley if she wants to do something different. Last time we chatted on AIM, so I assumed we would do AIM or possibly YIM this time - I actually prefer YIM.

I'm going to post the names of those who have stated they are interested in doing this study. Thanks, and for all of you who are interested you have plenty of time - starts in June:

1. Arbre
2. Kokoro Daisuke
3. Sunako
4. Kumiko213
5. Anna Mae
6. Mangafanatic (Osaka)
7. JoyfulSongs
8. Sakura 15

14. LightUpTheDark
15. Spirit_Wolf8356 (she was our secretary during the last study ^____^I'm glad you'll be joining us in this study, Spirit_Wolf)
16. Creature Art

What a wonderful response! :jump: Again, let either Ashley or I know via pm if you need help purchasing the book.
