DO NOT buy a PSP (important read)

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Are you also a Bay Area resident too?
The prices for opening week on PSP were pretty much uniform, even at Best Buy which is usually $10 cheaper than Suncoast.

I have Gameboy games dating mid 90s and SNES games with perfectly functioning memory despite all the batterings they've taken.

yes, but eventually all cartriages will loose their ability to save

or is that just with old nes/snes games? because the save feature is backed by a battery so eventually the save function will die out... but that takes practically years to occur

volt some of that list isnt right
tomb raider is supposedly getting a incarnation for the psp. dont look to much into it though after the abysmal failure of angle of darkness.

and thats ff11 thats online not 12, 12 is coming this summer.
on the thing of the companies being sick of sony... they are just migrating to the system that is dominating the market. xbox is king right now with ps2 being 2nd inline for royalty and the gc is a powerfull member of the court. always always have developers flocked to the system with the most power/popularity. look at ff back in the day. a nintendo only company for a long time, ups and moves to psx until recently with there spread to the largest audience possible and realease a game a month strategy.

oh and about the hardrive, part of the reason the slacked that of was people tended to get the pc version on ff11 due to the steep price of the hardrive for the ps2. i can see why it wasnt that important to them to make the new ps2, plus the ps3 launch is on the horizon so the new ps2 is similar to what ford did with the 04 mustang cobra, gave a super powerfull car to keep people interested until the sleek new car was realesed. comon market tatic to revamp a old thing to keep it selling until the new thing is released. the whole thing with the new ps2 is that it cuts down on size and such. the thing is about the size of a book! i dont see quite how they could put a monster like the ps2 hardrive on something of that size..

That's all part of Sony's way of doing buisness. That is, making themselves LOOK better than they actually are. They show the PStwo and the average consumers =

O.o

"How did they make it so small? That is amazing!"

When, in truth, it really isn't that amazing when you take the system specs combined with the lack of HD capabability. The original PS2 could have been much smaller than it was, had sony not included all that extra space for the HD "expansion".

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Shatterheart will tell you. I love zombie games but I hate when they are unoriginal or clones of other games. Cold Fear... I'm willing to try, looks very nice.

Cold Fear is going to be extremely awesome. Correct me if I'm wrong.... isn't it a remake of a Saturn game?

The maker of Alone in the Dark (the first one) for PC is the same maker of Cold Fear.

Sadly Cold Fear resembles RE4 so much that people are brushing it off as a clone.

yeah i saw some footage

theres actually footage of it at http://www.mega64.com (some blood)

I just have a PS and that works like a charm for bout 3 years now. I can not play it for 8 months and go to play it and it works perfectly.

But besides that I don't plan on (ever) purchasing PSP. I don't like handheld systems.

Ok my ebbed rage combined with boredom has allowed me to post my opinion.

Here is my take on the PSP: Its like my laptop. Its built for power. My laptop gets about an hour of battery life. But its got a P4 3.2 a 17" 1680x1050 LCD and four cooling fans. I am amazed it lasts as long as it does! No duh the PSP has low battery life. Its got dual proccessors(if I remember correctly) and a high rez LCD. Lets not even mention the disk drive. It runs hot...I would be suprised, seriously, if it didn't. Cram that much power in that small a space and you have a space heater. My laptop is the same way. The PSP will find its place among those who want its power. I personally would want a DS simply because it can play GBA games and DS games, and the touch screen is cool. Do I think the PSP sucks though, no. Its just gonna have a diffrent costomer base. Want battery life and high portability, get a DS. Want raw power thats also portable, get a PSP. Its that simple.

As to Sony making defective products, that guy reads to many conspiricy mags. I have a Sony CD player that I have dropped (repeatedly) and its still works great. Its the best CD player I have had. I would buy Sony over many brands. The PS2 is the best console far as I'm concerned.

I've had my Sony Walkman for years. The hatch door wore out though a few months ago and falls of all the time, but the thing never skips!
