And Rocketshipper just beat me to the post about it, as I was typing it up in the other Grandia topic.
But, anyway, I imagine it will be better than Extreme. Extreme is considered more of a spinoff game anyway.
Now I just need to pick up Grandia II...

I hope this one won't have any story connection to Grandia II and Xtreme. I'm definitely going to wait for some of you guys to get it. That way I can have some questions answered.

The scenery in this game is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Probably the best I've ever scene.

Yeah seriously. I think they should`ve called it Grandia IV because Grandia Xtreme was considered a 3rd one right? Or was it just a game that`s like aside from the series and recommended if you liked old school RPGs with no storyline and wicked fun gameplay. Out of curiosity what was the first RPG ever made? I hear it was Dragon Quest, but I don`t know.

RPGamer has some story details. It looks like the game is going to tackle religion again. Oh, boy. Will it be in a positive light, or a negative? Judging from the current state of modern RPGs, I'd say we have about a 10-15% chance of a positive portrayal.

Here's the article:

First Grandia III Story Details Take Flight

04.03.2005

STAFF COLUMNIST ADRIENNE BECK

Grandia III's story revolves around a 16 year-old boy named Yuuki. Because he loves the legends of the King of Pilots, Yuuki is building his own airplane that he keeps secret from everyone, including his own mother. His plan is to leave his tranquil little island hometown and fly to the mainland.

While getting the final parts for his plane, Yuuki meets a 16 year-old priestess named Alfeena, who is traveling in search of her missing brother. Optimistic and earnest, Alfeena is the high priestess in charge of hearing and relaying the words of the Holy Beast, which is believed to be the guardian deity of the world. After Yuuki and Alfeena meet, Grandia III takes to the skies with the sword-wielding Yuuki acting as Alfeena's protector, while she searches for her long lost brother, Emerius.

Before he went missing three years ago, Emerius held the rank of high priest; in his absence, his position has since gone to his sister. It seems that Emerius has had a change of heart and is now a cold and unfeeling man that weilds a giant guillotine-like sword called "Godkiller." Emerius now feels that the world of men should be ruled by men instead of dieties. He's trying to be one of those rulers, if not the only one; but it's possible that he might not be doing this according to his own will.

Grandia III is currently set for a summer release in Japan. RPGamer will have continuing coverage as soon as more details surface.

That sounds like Ryu and Elena from Grandia 2. I only hope they decide that the same plot twice in a row won't work...

<.< It DOES sound a bit like Grandia II. ^_^; Eh, well I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it. I hope the stories aren't too similar.

Final Fantasy X and Tales of Symphonia also had similar situations. They're not exactly being original....
