Your CAA Role-model

Postby Heaven's Cloud » Sun Oct 19, 2003 2:59 pm

Which CAA member is your role-model? Mine would have to be oldphilosopher. The reason why is because he is learning Japanese, is a programmer of some sort, is really smart, and has great grammer, and has a great avatar! He is just so cool!

 Mine's probably either Gypsy or Neko. Neko so sweet and good at drawing and an awesome friend! And Gypsy liks the rain like I do and she's so sweet too!

... I will give this issue some serious thought, but I fear I have nothing to say at the moment. Perhaps I could do with some role models.

OldP is awfully good at what he does, and Shooraijin is also...^^ They're both cool.

*is cool*

inkhana is my role model because she's so nice and sweet and complimentary and never tells anyone about the large check I sent to have her say that and all kinds of other stuff.

Hmm... Interesting thread... What does it mean when I'm more respected among non-christians than I am among christians?

Anyhow...

Technomancer, despite disagreeing with me on some major issues, is incredibly smart and makes me think... He usually makes good posts and makes things interesting

In the early days, the name I latched onto was reverend Doc... I mean, a pastor and a missionary and a father of several (I think) children... And likes anime, that's just too cool, plus he's quite wise.

Hmm... It's usually interesting to see what milly fan is going to post, but I don't think I'd call her a "role model" hehe...

Role models, though? I think that a lot of people here have an effect on the way I think about things but specific role models? Not that I can think of...

There are more than I've listed here, but these just came to mind right now... I mean, most of ya'll have meant something to me... For good or for bad

I don't know that I'd call her a "role model," necessarily, more of a friend, but true_noir_chloe is a really cool person and a good writer.

There's a lot of people I like and respect here, like op, shoorajin, bob, etc. I wouldn't say role models though.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Whoa. That's not something I expected to see on this board. I'm not totally sure how to respond to that one. So I'll look to one of my roll models, Garth Algar. "Just say, 'Thank you.'"

Thank you.

Am I allowed to have a roll model, too? Then I'll pick shooby, 'cause he's my hero! There was this one time when I cut my hand doing something that was, um, not stupid in the least, and he fixed it. By wrapping it in no more than 54,000 feet of gauze. I learned that day why they call it 'practicing medicine.'

I would have to say Ashley. (Suck up!) No, seriously. To have the initiative and drive to take something she enjoys, and start a light in the darkness, Wow. I think what you've done so far is amazing, Chief, and I'm glad to be a rather small part of it.

Also, I have 2 role-models here. One I have already mentioned, Oldphil (gosh he's just so cool). I also have another Rolemodel, that would be UC. He is my rolemodel because of how well he can write, and reply a lot.

Well, I suppose that makes me happy. I'm not as lowly as I think I am.

People should have mentors, though, and role models serve that purpose in some ways. As Christians, we're all climbing the same mountain, so to speak, and we all help each other. The purpose is not to win, as is so much in life, but to help everyone else. So if you happen to be further up in one particular area than someone else, you pull them up. They probably have an area they can help you with as well. We all do better this way. I post this mainly because this thread has been uplifting for me.

I agree. It has been rather cool to see who looks to whom around here. Myself ... well ... at one point or another, just about every one of the regulars have impressed me, made me think, or have caused me to see something in a new way - not to mention they've encouraged and taught me spiritually. I look forward to our newer members doing the same!

Well that sounds more than a bit mocking to me. Jesus isn't some auto-response God, but a loving, personal Father. And I doubt ANYONE here would find it even mildly respectful of our God and Savior. You've already been warned about troll attacks lately...I'd advise you to watch your words. Perhaps I'm reading into this too much, and if so, I apologize, but one cannot be too careful when we're in a state of war.

I don't know that i am at an age to model myself after anyone anymore. ('cept Christ and his teaching) still, i think it is a great thing that Ash started and i respect that and the admin/mods that give of their time to keep it going. such service is an admirable trait. :) thanks you guys.
