This is funny.

I'm like dead tired today because my small group volunteered to sort food at the American Red Cross last night and I unwisely slept late.

This morning, I crawled out of bed and switched on my computer to read the online Daily Bread. Usually, I would read the Bible first before going to CAA. But today, I don't know why I felt that it was perfectly fine to check CAA first. And lo behold, I was reminded of my fast today, right after I packed my lunch! XD;;;;;;

Everyone, let's do our best today despite the trips. I need all the help I can get today to get through today so if you could spare me a prayer, I'll appreciate it. I'm sure others wouldn't mind prayers on their behalf as well. *takes out the coffee*

I just wanted to say that praying in toungues is the best way to be praying for these people. We don't know what's going on with these folks or what their needs are. Praying in toungues prays the perfect prayer for whom you are addressing. This is what you people who are afraid to help should do. All you gotta go(once you accept the Holy Ghost/Spirit, of course) is say something like "Lord, now I intercede for so and so right now in toungues" and start into it. I hope I've helped.

Are you going to join us, chewster? :)

How did fasting for everyone go? Mine went well.

I believe I will join.
So do we all fast something on the 1st of every month? I just need more time to get alone and pray. Maybe joining this and getting involved will remind me of what I should be doing more often.

Welcome, Chewster!

My fast also went really well. It was amazing the difference it made to my attitude and the entire day, actually.

Plus, I think it may have something to do with the fact that the new Christian group I'm involved in setting up went really well at school. - We got twenty students there! When it existed a couple of years ago, it only had about... hmm.. 12 tops. Now we have 20+ to _begin_ with. Pretty awesome stuff. . I think I might try to fast more often than once a month.. it's amazing, really, and when I've done it I feel very different, in a good way.

I'm glad to hear that your fast went well, too, Anna Mae. Praise God.

Greetings, fellow prayer guardians!

My fast went pretty well. I had to sample some 'microwaved' fish as part of my research work but I don't think that was a disruption to my fast at all.

Welcome chewster, Angel37 and twinklebrite! Join the battle! XDD

Sure, you can join! But we're not doing much in the way of group activities -- just individual prayer and the monthly fast (coming up again on April 1).

Yeah, it's just a fast for one day from whatever you're led to fast from. And if you're not led to fast at all, that's perfectly fine, too!

And, yes, the prayer list and prayer followup threads are good for a quick run-down of what and whom to pray for, but you can also look through the threads, too.

Welcome aboard! And feel free to copy the logo into your sig, as well. Info on that is given in earlier parts of this thread.

God is faithful. I went through fasting without any major complications. Thanks for the reminder, Talame. Life has been quite painful lately but it's always good to know God is always there anyway.

Heeeee loooooo everyone! Well, I fasted from the computer yesterday. As a result, I got a WHOLE lot of time to study, but more importantly to think about a book I've been reading, called Drawing Near by John Bevere (awesome book, I completely recommend it). So, overall I'd say yesterday was very productive, and probably did more for me spiritual walk with God than an entire week with the computer handy :P

How was everyone else's fasts?

This was my first fast ever, but because of school I couldn't afford to skip eating. Instead, I just fasted bread and am happy to say that it went well ^_^

Well, I actually decided to fast from anime this time. The reason I chose it is because I knew that I was going to have a Friday evening at home, and that I would want to watch anime all evening. Since that was what I wanted to hold onto the most, it was what I decided to give up for the day.

I was surprised at the temptations, though, especially in my boredom. However, I did get a lot of an essay written for school, and that night, during my Bible study, I found the following verse, which renewed my confidence:

"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." -- Luke 9:23

That was just God's way of saying that the fast was a good and positive thing, regardless of what I fasted from. Reading that verse made it all worthwhile. So my first fast (without being sick! ) went well in the end.

Agreed. It's awesome to hear that they went well. Congratulations.

Sorry I haven't been around for a bit, guys. I did remember the fast, though - and I fasted the computer this time. It went well and lately God has brought me into a period of rest from what has been a difficult time - and it's awesome.

God bless you all,

I've tried fasting before. It's so hard. Any tips?

Fasting from food, I assume? When my stomach protests, I do the following:

1) Drink lots. It depends on the invidividual; I won't do smoothies or milkshakes but I still drink coffee or juice (try not to drink anything acidic though like orange juice XD;;; ).
2) Keep myself busy or occupied with something throughout the day. Helps to kill time and remove my focus from my stomach

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks. I guess the problem is just keeping focused on something. I'll keep that in mind.

You can also do fasts that aren't from food - we've had a couple of different ones in here, such as chocolate, anime, computer, television, games, art.

I think it's to do with picking something that you spend a lot of time on/ something important to you and then giving it up for God. Am I right?
