Favorite Cowboy Bebop Songs

Postby AngelSakura » Tue Mar 15, 2005 5:38 pm

Cowboy Bebop has one of the greatest soundtracks to any anime, ever, provided by the goddess of anime music, Yoko Kanno. If you've seen this series, in whole or in part, you must have a favorite song. Wanna share your opinion? ^^

My personal favorites include "The Real Folk Blues", "Call Me Call Me" and "Rain". Of those, I probably like "Call Me Call Me" best, because it's just really beautiful and Cowboy-Bebop-ish.

CALL ME CALL ME
I close my eyes and I keep seeing things
Rainbow waterfalls, sunny liquid dreams
Confusion creeps inside me raining down
Got to get to you, but I don't know how

CHORUS
Call me, call me
Let me know that it's all right
Call me, call me
Don't you think it's 'bout time?
Won't you call and ease my mind?
Reasons for me to find you
Peace of mind
What can I do to get me to you?

I had your number quite some time ago
Back when we were young, but I had to grow
Ten thousand years I've searched it seems and now
Got to get to you, won't you tell me how?

CHORUS
Think happy thoughts.

I really liked Rain a lot. the organ in it was just so awesome.

I also really like Green Bird...I wish I knew what language it is. Space Lion is another one of my favorites.

Ah yes, "Call Me Call Me" performed by Steve Conte worked well with the ending of episode 24. The images matched well.

I remember the ending music for episode 13 (different from the rest) was very good too. Don't know the name though

That would be Space Lion. Makes me cry...

lessee...do they have to be songs only? Because I'm really fond of most of the instrumental pieces as well. The music box piece "Memory" comes to mind.

Hmm... I don't remember the names. Call me is definitely at the top of my list, not just for Cowboy Bebop, but for songs in general. I also liked the two songs from Ballad of Fallen Angels. One was an Ave Maria, I think, and the other one was when Spike was falling from the stained glass window.

CDL -> that ones called 'green bird'.

Call Me, Tank!, What Planet is this?! (from the movie)
Space Lion, The Power of Kung_food (tank remix)
Real Folk Blues, heaps... they're all good.

I would also recommend the Music for Freelance CD if you enjoy remixed songs by DJ and techno guys.

Does anyone know the song title of the song that plays in session 1 when spike is talking to the 'pregnant' lady, just before he gets grabbed from behind by her boyfriend, Asimo? Its a little guitar piece.

I liked Fantasie Sign(?). I think it was an instrumental, but it was still really cool.

I luv Rain and Call Me :)
We are all rowing the boat of fate
The waves keep on coming and we can't escape
But if we ever get lost on our way
The waves will guide you through another day

I have never in my life seen anyone eat so many hard-boiled eggs so fast...but I know what you mean. I liked the line "...back when we were young..." with a shot of Faye staring into the sky with that lost look on her face.

For a long time, I was really weirded out by the music played over the scene where Spike falls backwards from the stained-glass window ("Green Bird"?). I just didn't think it fit. But watching it again recently, it's not so bad. ^^

I like to look up the lyrics to the songs and randomly sing them around people. I especially like to sing "The Real Folk Blues" in Japanese, but I always get "Rain" stuck in my head the entire day when it rains. Recently, I've been singing "Call Me Call Me", since that episode just played on CN.
Think happy thoughts.

Unless you like the sight of a grown man crying over anime, let's stop talking about that scene.

Thanks MsThinks2much. It is.

And would you also happen to know the title of the song played in session 24? the one with call me playing and faye's past, (and edos aswell in that case).

Its played just before the commercial break with Faye and Edo flying back to the Bebop after having talked to grandma. An instrumental piece from memory.

I like "Papa Roach" (I think it's called.), "No Reply" and "Rain" (it's a very good song to annoy people with, ha ha).

But.. I liked all songs.

it's a song called "Wo Qui Non Coin". I have no idea what it means. I assume it's French.

Any song on Cowboy Bebop ::laughs::

I really like Old Folk Blues, Blue, Green Bird, Call Me Call Me, The Egg and I, Jupiter Jazz ending song, 3.14 (the song Ed sings in the movie), Digging my Patatoe Tank, and Julia's theme song, Memory. I just love Yoko Kanno

I'm sorry. I'll try to explain.

If you sing it very badly to some one who has not known Cowboy Bebop, and who is your younger sibling, over and over, it's... << like this.

I'm sorry, I'm very immature.. (_ _);;

Nah, it's okay. I just didn't know what you meant. ^^ And you're probably more mature than me.
Anyway, this provides a good opportunity to post the lyrics! From memory, of course. ^^

RAIN
Music: Yoko Kanno
Vocals: Steve Conte

I don't feel a thing, and I stopped remembering
The days are just like moments turned to hours
Mother used to say "If you want you'll find a way"
Bet Mother never danced through fire showers

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in the rain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Is it right or is it wrong
And is it here I belong

I don't hear a sound, silent faces in the ground
The quiet screams, but I refuse to listen
And if there is a hell, I'm sure this is how it smells
Wish this were a dream, but no, it isn't

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in the rain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Am I right, or am I wrong
And is it here I belong

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in therain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Why am I so alone
For some reason, I think of home

Boy, Cowboy Bebop just screams ANGST!
Think happy thoughts.

Wow...tough question.

I can't really associate the music with scenes in the anime but among my fav. Cowboy Bebop vocal music would be "No Reply" by Steve Conte, "Gotta Knock a Little Harder," and "The Real Folk's Blues."

Instrumentals would be "Bad Dog No Biscuit", "Piano Black" and "Green Lion" (bittersweet ending background tune)

I would consider Fantaise Sign (sp?) a vocal piece since the lyrics are in French.

OT: My fav. Steve Conte song to date is Garden of Everything, which he sings with Maaya Sakamoto. *melts*

I've heard that there's a female vocal version to "Rain". Is that what you're talking about? I barely recognized his voice on the actual episode. Unless that was the female vocal? *ish confused*

I heard that on Japan-A-Radio quite a while ago, and I barely remember it, but I think it was good. ^^

THE REAL FOLK BLUES [Original TV Edit]
Music: Yoko Kanno
Vocals: Mai Yamane

Aishiteta to nageku niwa

Mada kokoro no hokorobi wo
Iyasenu mama kaze ga fuiteru

Doro no kawa ni tsukatta

BANDAI SUBTITLE TRANSLATION
Too much time has passed by to
lament that we were deeply in love
The wind keeps blowing, while my heart
cannot heal all the tears in it
Someone cry for me with parched eyes

The real folk blues
I only want to know what true sadness is
Sitting in muddy water
isn't such a bad life
if it ends after the first time

Tricky Cowboy Bebop people. The only way to get the original version is to get that one CD with only five other tracks...
Think happy thoughts.

I have partially cleared up the "Rain" vocals thing. It appears that the vocals were Mai Yamane in the actual episode, with another version with Steve Conte's vocals available. However, I have yet to discover whether Mai Yamane is a man or a woman.

I love "Chicken Bone" - that song cracks me up. Also, "Piano Black" is great, and "Adieu," of course all the favorites also, like: "Rain," Tank!," "Green Bird," etc. There really isn't another anime soundtrack that I've found that compares in any way to Bebop. It is just too, too good.

A woman. Mai is a feminine name. And I've seen a picture of her.

Boy, she has an odd voice. I thought the name sounded like a woman's, but the voice...
Not that I don't like it. I would actually take her version of "Rain" over Steve Conte's.
