What once was hardcore...

Have you ever noticed that bands that used to be the sole possession of rockers everywhere is starting to become popular among the pop-driven culture just because it's cool to listen to now? For example, Thousand Foot Krutch used to be one of those bands. we used to rock out to Puppet and Set It Off, but, hey, now that their new CD's out, some teenyboppers say, "Oh, my GOSH! This is, like, totally awesome!" and suddenly EVERYONE likes TFK. Most of these people don't even know how to mosh...

oy...

TFK was never hardcore...

And moshing to TFK is silly...it's not moshable music...

Oh, and for the record, even though I own Phenomenon, I don't like TFK. >_>;

The latest P.O.D cd. Not to the same degree and not quite to the teeny bopper stage, but it is annoying to see fans who don't appreciate the history of the band.

I haven't met anyone who likes the new POD CD that didn't like their old stuff, though. Most people hate it.

Do you mean bands who just get popular? Or bands who actually sell-out and change their style?

Well, what I mean is selling out by changing your style to accomodate what is popular or "cool". For instance, what Metallica did is a good example. They went mainstream and spat in the faces of true metalheads everywhere.

Underoath will probally be ruined soon, too.

Postby enishi » Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:14 pm

ive noticed the new Underoath CD has brought lots of attention, HotTopic even picked up a shirt and is selling it. the day i see a bunch of twelve year old girls arguing about who is the hottest guy in the band, trying to sing or even scream to it .. and plain ruining it .. well, i think ill get really sad and cry alot that day. boo.

I've already heard a bunch of twelve year old girls arguing about who is the hottest member of Underoath. It's sad. I don't care, though, whether 12 year olds like them or not doesn't determine if I like Underoath or not. If it did, I'd have quit listening to them a long time ago.

My cries will be heard with you. Then I'll go listen to Tourniquet or Mortal Treason. They scare little kids.

When you change your style to attract more listeners aka make more MONEY. Then yes, your filthy sellouts. It makes me sick that bands get a strong fanbase...then spit all over it by going to top 40 sound.

HAHAHA! That's kind of funny! Dude, you expect that with bands like Hawk Nelson and FM Static but def not Underoath. Holy crap. That reminds me of when this preppy girl called into RadioU and was said, "Could you, like, play, like, Showbread??" and then she said something about how hot they were. I couldn't stop laughing.

LOL, you're right. Dead by Dawn would be a good one... I downloaded it off purevolume.com, its awesome.

Anyway, it does kind of btoher me when bands change to the "popular" style, which is why I got so mad at underoath when someone told me one of them had when on American Idol. I couldn't listen to them the same until I found out that it wasn't true after all.
