I know they can be played on the PS2, but what do I do about saving. I never realy asked. can they be saved on a 8meg memory card? if not what type of memory card should I get? I am almost afraid to get a PS1 card, do to one burnt up my cousins PS2

You have to use a Playstation memory card to save Playstation games. You can get them for pennies practically at EB or Gamestop. And I don't see how they could "burn up" a PS2. Unless your cousin lit the thing on fire and shoved it in his PS2 I don't see how that's possible.

If someone does do that...they need to tape it so I can see it. ;)

And send me a copy two. Man if I had 150 bucks to burn (pun intended) I would so do that.
Anyway no using a PS1 card on a PS2 shouldn't hurt anything. Its the only way to save PS1 games.

well sparten .. i dont know if you live in the US or not, but if you do hit up your local walmart (or meijers, if your in the north) they usually have some offbrand ps1 cards for about $5-10. $8 seems to be the usual price. its a good investment, since ps1 has tons of fun games to play. go find ff7! the cgi might make your stomach squirm, but back in its day it was glorious .. it still has one of the best storylines ever.

heh yeah using hte PS1 memory card doesnt do any harm. One of the reasons I purchased a PS2 was because I wanted to play old playstation games (bought DDR and GT3 as my first games hehe)

Spartn: IF the system in question was trying to write to a PS2 mem card, and the user in question swapped it out for a PS1 memory card, it's possible the system would hang. But a power cycle should fix that. If the system ACTUALLY died (won't boot), then it was likely a fluke death that happened to time itself to the card, or whatnot.

Bottom line, though, they are obviously marked, and the entire rest of the PS market has never had that problem. Or at least, they haven't told anyone else about it.

i second the ff7 recommendation, the graphics aren't as good as what you're probably accustomed to with ps2 games, but the story is really great and you can get tons to play out of it, oh, and don't forget to take on the weapons, those are an added challenge there towards the end
