Postby desperado » Wed Mar 09, 2005 6:28 pm

keep your DS... just save a bunch of money. THE DS has an EXCELLENT lineup comming soon. And you will regret getting rid of your DS. Plus you wont get your full refund back... it'll be like some really cheap thing like "trade in your DS with 3 games and get 100 dollars off the psp!" or something. Ebgames and gamestop is ALWAYS like "trade in these 2 games! get 20 dollars off your game!" no thanks id perfer spending the extra 20 dollars

but seriously no rpgs are coming that are noteworthy. only one is ff3 and i have beaten that. psp has y's the ark of nephatism coming out and tales of eternia (yes!) plus internet suport (for launch titles even!) that the ds seems to shun (a repeat of the gamecubes internet phobia?) all i see in all games in development or under development that look good are metriod hunters, harvest moon, and animal crossing. we all know there is a zelda port of ocarina of time or majoros mask coming but what to do if youve beaten them >.< besides i can buy a memory stick for the psp that has 3 GB yes 3 GB and i can PUT ANIME ON IT AND WATCH ANIME ON THE PSP. oh on a side note i almost forgot to mention the new ff coming out for psp

Are you sure you know which FF3 they're talking about? It refers to the NES game that's NEVER been released in English...

ff6 is comming for the psp? no way... that will never happen dude... they're comming out with ff3 (nes) for the DS

the only way to play ff3 is the ROM, which ive played

it is SO much fun! SO many class changes

keep your ds man! this ff3 isn't the ff6 one, its the actual ff3 for the nes!

my mistake. but mr. smartypants you havent given me any definite proof towards keeping ds just it will be a bad deal (wich im going to go see about monday) and saying it has good games coming out. i went back through and was looking at some of the games coming out (again) and i see coming out soon for the ds is a virtual pet game. i look at the ds and i see coming out a couple months after its launch gran turismo 4 mobile and supposedly tails of eternia is coming out this spring/summer, but you know rpg companies ~_~

No, that game is NOT FF6! It is FF3! The game that, I believe, has the most vehicles out of the series, as well as the blank characters... The characters litereally have no personality... I mean, they all look the same and they don't have their own stories... The game was pretty fun, playing as a nameless group of heroes saving the world and seeing the story that unfolds around you, as well as the introduction of the class change system, but it is probably the worst in the series (not counting "Final Fantasy America)... Well, maybe 1 but you have to give that props for being first, you know? Yeah... If I had a DS I'd wait until after I had beaten FF3 before I traded it in for a PSP... I WOULD trade it in, though... Either that or just save up more money and get both... Other than FF3, the DS doesn't interest me...

I'm totally with Mr. SP on this one. You should keep your DS cuz you're going to regret it if you don't. PSP may seem better at the time but I would stick with the DS

The DS will get stronger, the only aspects that look entirely great about the PSP (Aside from how slick the thing looks) is the cool UMDs coming out...like Hellboy, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, etc.

I know here where I live, we're all out of them so everyone who didn't pre-order will have to wait until the next shipment in late April.

Yeah thanks for warning us all why don't you actually play the thing before making a judgement cal,l what a concept...:eyeroll:

And Smartypants I'd rather play games that actually push the hardware. FF3/6 whatever you want to call is one of the best FF games ever. But it's also more than a decade old. And the DS and PSP are capable of far better than a 2D remake.

now that i truly do agree with. there is a major graphical advantage on the psp's side of the ring. and none of the games go near the limit you have to consider that almost no launch titles ever EVER do.
its suprising how of topic we have gotten from my first question, i dont mind though since i always love a good debate. i still say since this has become the focus of the thread, that no one has given me a good DEFINITE NON OPPINION reason for keeping the ds. only advantages it has are touch screen and better battery life due to less processes running.
but also can anyone answer my initial question?

edit----(because i didnt see zedians post)
well the umd and the sleak look are nice and all but it comes down to the games in the end. for rpgs tales of eternia and y's something ark (cant remeber its name for the life of me >.<) plus gran turismo 4 mobile (yeeesss) and for those out there who acctually like those games nfsr is a launch title i beleive. wipeout pure is racing adrenaline, and lumines i hear is video game crack (supposedly tetris modernized and addicting? i dont know never been into games like that but the amount of game sites loving it makes me want to try it) so after launch psp will have better and about equal number of launch titles (there is a ton of sports games a dungeon crawler nfsr ridge racer and some others i cant think of off hand oh and a fighting game (darkstalkers) that i still want to know if its bad or good ~_~) as the ds has out now. and personally...i look at wipeout and some of the others and like them better then the ds launch titles.

Once again, it's not 6 (Super) it's 3 (original) as in the onion kids, the jumping ship, and the introduction of the class change system that you "tactics advance" kiddies love so much.

I was wondering as well, though, what they were going to do with FF3 on DS... I mean, why not just released it on GBA?

Yes I know hence the six backslash three...:eyeroll:

My point exactly that's pretty lame to just put that out on the DS with the original graphics. When it would be just as easy to put it on the GBA. Maybe an excuse to sell it for $40 as a DS game I guess.

probably.... i had high hopes for the ds but i seriously dont see anything good coming out for it. its going to probably turn out like the gba did a few good titles and mountains of slop to wade through to get at the good stuff.

I'm gonna get a psp when it comes out... I'm just not a big fan of the hugeness of the ds or the touchscreen... but hey, who knows?? if it comes out with some awesome games I might get it. There's just many more things I'm looking forward to on the psp... namely Advent Children and a FFiiv: Crisis Core (no info on this yet where storyline is concerned. Just know its based off FF7)

And of course, I'm a rpg and sony fangirl... so I'm biased =P Japan is eating the psp up, but we'll just wait to see if it can put out the good games like we want.

Edit: on a sorta offtopic... i really hope square doesn't burn FF7 out with all these sequel/prequel things...

Soo... yeah. Guess I'm weird for liking the idea of Animal Crossing Online (on a handheld no less.) Guess I'm odd for not looking forward to sports game ports and remakes of an overhyped FF game. Guess the RPGs of Xenosaga, Baiten Kaitos, FF3, Shin Megumi Tensei, and an unamed strat RPG made by Mistwalker are too attractive for me to turn down...

Dunno, guess the 30 second startup loading time doesn't appeal to me. It looks cool, but I wonder if it'll become the jack of all trades, master of none (with Sony Quality no less.)

true volt. but if i wait that will be what....a couple months before there finnally in stock 0_o? and trout ninja where did you hear xenosaga was coming to the ds? if anything i would have thought it would be coming out for the psp. and on another note if you dont like remaked ff7 games is that mean you arent going to go out and get dirge of cerebus? because the way its looking its going to be stinking cool. and on a side note its not just a remake of ff7 coming out that are rpgs, there are three in japanese i cant even hope to produce (go to gamespot they have a pretty good listing) and then there is tales of eternia currently starting the translation process and y's the ark of nephatism scheduled for fall to winter.

yeah i originally made this thread to ask what titles for the psp where online capable from the start (like 5 or so of them) and ask if darkstalkers was any good. it then turned into a psp vs ds battle somehow ~_~;

Xenosaga DShere.

Oh, and to address your question about PSP online, I believe the sports games will have online capabilities, along with Twisted Metal and ATV.

Oh, and no I'm not getting Dirge of Cerebrus, I'm not much for remakes of FF games (argh FF X-2). I just gave that list to get rid of the DS myths I guess.

Which lauch games interest you?

darkstalkers (i still want to know if this has bad content), lumines, wipeout pure, dynasty warriors. and im frothing at the mouth to get ahold of gran turismo 4 mobil when it comes out. plus y's and tales of eternia this fall/winter ish
on a side note i preordered my psp yesterday, the ds traded in for 90 dollars which considering depresiasion and there supply of them was a pretty good offer.

sounds decent, but i still stand by my decision. xenosaga interests me slightly but the real allure of the series has been the insanly good cutscenes. i wonder how there going to pull that of with n64 graphics?
