Gran Turismo 4

Postby Kenshin17 » Fri Feb 25, 2005 3:37 pm

Anybody else wnat this game? I have Gran Turismo 3 and its one of the coolest racing sims I have played (I haven't played a lot though). We finally got it in and it looks good. There are over 200 cars past and present (I blelieve) and over 100 tacks. I just have one question...how did they fit all that in the PS2??

I'm not into racing games, but GT4 makes me wish I was. That game almost looks real.

I got it and even though it didn't take a huge leap from Gran Turismo 3...the game itself is utterly fun to play. I just about got done getting my 'B' and 'A' licenses. I managed to get 25,000 credits with just my handy-dandy 86' Mazda RX-7 in hand.

at 56% completion as of an hour ago; mostly been using the Integra Type-R, Camaro IROC-Z Concept, Civic Si ('87 mugen), and the Lancer Evolution VII GT-A. I think with another two hours I'll be able to get the Lancia Stratos.

Fast & Furious is actually going to console? I think I'm going to be sick, the pictures my friends sent me from the arcade back home were bad enough. Red neons under the cabinet, a non-functional keypad for code input (needs a net connection maybe); and all the gimmicky tricks you can do were completely laughable.

Though I agree something new is needed for driving games, unfortunately I really cant say what that could be as the genre seems to have reached it's limit in terms of features.

My bad, make that over 650 cars and over 100 tracks.

In reponse to Volts post, I agree. Hardware isn't as important as efficiant programing. When I saw Killzone I knew that the hardware wasn't all that big a deal. Killzone has graphics that many would only think Xbox capable of. I wonder how good game designers will get at making efficiant PS2 games before PS3 hits...

Blah. I hated the first one and never bothered with the sequals. Everyone was calling it the most realistic racing game ever...you can't even flip the car. Laaaame. If I want to have run in a racing game, I will dig out my old Road Rash PS1 games.

Actually its quite easy to flip a car in real life. Build up speed, and tear the wheel one way. I just hated how GT felt. It felt like rather then controling a nimble quick car...you were pioleting a giant milk jug.

The creators of Gran Turismo are maticulous about getting down all the details for how the cars drive. and yeah the cars dont fip but the driving physics are accurate. (heh i know now they have a car in the game that did flip, the Mercedes CLK GTR Le Mans car) The game is awesome, and now witht he inclusion of b-spec, endurance races can be alot easier when you unlock them (which I haven't yet). You can set the speed to 3x so it goes alot faster ^^

Oh gosh I like had this game for a couple of years....only to not play it that much....just too realistic......I mean I one time put a full nighter and I really didnt really accomplished much....I mean even the practicing to exactly follow the ghost does is like i'm in a race XD. I dont know what to do.....I really not sure if I even want to buy 4 even when it hits the Greatest Hits section........and I'm not much even at all a car expert so I would look at that and wonder "what does that do" or "does this make me go fast" or "does that make me go fast" .....all I seem to think aobut is does it go fast. And my gosh how can you exactly remeber your custmized car's name.....I mean "wow you people do know your self" and me...I cant even remeber my own customized car .......I frigin suck :sniffle:
 You gotta love it ^.^

Yeah, that's why I didn't like GT...I played three and after about fifteen minutes of desperately trying to get my car where I wanted it to go, I gave up.

If cars drove like that in real life, I wouldn't have gotten my license.

Well the game has the Delorean! Image
Yeah the game is hard.. in arcadey games like NFSU you can take turns really fast and count on it to drift nicely. The good thing about GT games is they force you to take the license exams, it helps you get used to the driving system =) hehe gotta break before turns.. there was one really hard license test... you are cruising donw a 4 mile straightaway at 230+mph.. then you have tostop quick and take an insane whacky turn.. %p

man it makes me sad the 70 charger only has the 440 but the barracuda and gnx suite my normal racing needs nicely. also i use an 05 mustang gt for rally.
onto the dislike due to realism. if your just starting the game expect it to be frustrating. the starting cars are crappy... they suck big time... when you start getting into the better cars like mustangs and some of the other performance at cheap prices cars youll enjoy it more. i hated the game when i first started out. had to drive one of my arch enemy cars (i dont like japanese cars one bit though i do give the rx-8 credit where credit is due) and it handled like a brick in a snowstorm....................................................................... but when i endured it enought o buy an 05 mustang man was it different, no longer did i go of off the track every time i tried to make a turn. it rocked, so dont let your initial impression spoil it wait until you get out of the super crappy cars and into the good ol american MUSCLE

Another important aspect of the game is tuning and screwing around. Tires make a huge differnece. Sport brakes greatly increase how late you can brake before turns. Traction control makes the game A LOT easier (you wont spin out as much) but you should try and turn down the traction control power to 5 i noticed that makes it alot easier, otherwise the traction contorl slows you down too much. Yeah i love the 05 mustang as well if my job goes well still i might be a real one =) well. maybe wait til the 06 model year they start production in August

I have and enjoy gt3, yet one thing almost ruins it. The fact that there is completely no damage, no crashing or anything. Tell me about if it is more realistic in that way and I may get it, otherwise probably not.- i like burnout3 kinda racing better though.
