prayer for a friend's faith.

Postby Debitt » Tue Mar 08, 2005 6:56 pm

A very close friend of mine has been doubting her faith lately. =/ She said she's wavering between Christianity and agnosticism. I know she won't loose her salvation and such, but I really want to help her get back on track with her faith, especially with all the stuff she's been going through lately. I don't want to see another one of my friends slip away. So...please, if you can, say a quick prayer for her.

I'll be praying.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Well, just because we are saved earlier in life doesn't mean we are saved later in life. It's something that can change if the person decides not to believe anyone. The key to salvation is believing in Jesus. We need to be willing to constanly give ourselves to Jesus and follow him.

Anways, I'll keep your friend in my prayers. I hope she'll finds some reassurance. Just continue to pray for her and help her anyway you can. Good luck, I hope everything works out.

Depression mainly - and I don't blame her. In the course of a few years her family split up, people died, her dad had a heart attack, she's been seeing a neurologist because she has symptoms of a brain tumor. =/ It's tough on her, and I think so many bad things so fast without much of a reprieve has the ability to really shake one's faith. I want so badly to help her without being preachy - so at this point I'm really trying to set a good example and tell her I'm praying for her.

And not to sound rude, agasfas, because I know you mean well, but please don't mention the topic of loosing salvation here. ._.; I've had a tough time dealing with stuff like that, and so many different opinions coming from so many different people on the topic, it really makes me feel very...hopeless and confused, I suppose you could say. =/ So...yeah.

Although you may not want to hear it, I do have to agree with agasfas on this one, because it simply makes sense. We can't get saved, then live like hell for the rest of our lives, and still think we're going to Heaven without asking for daily forgiveness.

Anyway, I'll pray.

It isn't that I don't want to hear it. It's that I want to decide for myself and when I keep getting mixed messages, it irritates me. The end.

Gotcha. Getting mixed messages can make decisions difficult (something I understand regarding other situations). I'll pray that God leads you to the decision that is in His will, and no one else's. :thumb:

And, of course, as I said before, I'll pray for your friend, too!

trusting in God doesn't mean you wont have struggles... but they will be easier...

i will be praying

James 1: 2-4
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

1st Peter 1: 6-9
"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

Just as a general note, I think it would be best to abstain from any abstract discussions over the concept of permanence or loss of salvation in this thread. It's supposed to be a prayer forum, so let's keep it that way. Thanks, everyone, for respecting that.

Hey Koko, I will definitely pray for you. And about salvation, pm me or IM me. I might be able to help. ^____^ I obvoiusly don't agree with what agasfas said.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Hey the prayer is on its way.
You sound like you might need some prayer as well, its comming at you as well. People can take only so much. But, know this, when someone is stressed, the TRUE feelings surface. So just assure your friend, if she has a firm foundation, she might fall. But God is there and willing to help them build upon the foundation again. Also, tell her, to rest her head on the FACT, He is there, even when she doesn't see him. He is there, always will be.... Trust me. I have been there, rock bottom sucks, but you must be willing to call out to Jesus and trust he can save you. Like Peter, took his eyes off Jesus, he sank, he yelled for Jesus... who was there? Jesus. Like the centurion, he had faith, Jesus only had to say the word, and his servent would be healed. What faith. BUT, some must hit rockbottom to start the realationship with the all mighty.
