How about I just post some instead :-) ... it was a PDP 11/70, btw. The disk platter you see below is 10MB, and the control panel is also shown. (It has standard serial terminals, fortunately, once you get everything running.)

And, here's my exhibit. I just heard it won 1st place in Category C (manufactured systems post-1981, IIRC) and 3rd place in Category E (all comers). Geez.

One more for the Maccies. (Kudos if you can name the computer in Bloom County on which this amusing variation was based.)

They would if you'd only cross-compile for them (*gentle elbow to ribs*) ;) .

oldphil and Eire got his'n'hers G5 (I think they're 1x1.6GHz) systems. I was so jealous. However, my dual 1.25GHz G4 still kicks a lot of benchmark tuckus. Clock speed, ha ha ha (AMD heads should be in agreement on this too).

Oooh..Bloom County/Outland, that's an old favourite.

First Computer (family)- TI 99/4A (we got it in 1981/1982), it had a cartridge slot and a cassette drive. This thing was awesome, and was lots of fun to program. We later got a disk drive for it, and eventually upgraded to a Myarc 9640 Geneve, which wasn't half as robust. We got a 256K RAM card for it, which was a little bit bigger than a hardcover novel.

386 33Mhz- We got this when I entered high school. (1991, I think). Wing Commander was the first game we put on it, and the hard rive was 120 MB

I bought my first computer for myself in Jan. 1996, which was a Pentium some-thing or other (I can't remember). It worked, by I really got burned on the deal; the company closed down and buggered off a week after the sale. The modem was garbage, and the motherboard was incompatible with Win95. Since then, I've slowly upgraded components, and replaced the case. My computer's sort of moved like an amoeba. I'm still using the original hard drive though. Right now I'm running a Pentium III 833 Mhz, 256 Mb of RAM. I'll probably upgrade the Motherboard soon though.

Of course, if I want to see really old computer stuff, I can just look through my Dad's old manuals. (He got his Elec. Eng. Master's in 1965). One of them uses an oscilloscope for a register output.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Okay, the answer below. Just for the record, I had a personal computer as a child (the Tomy Tutor), and I didn't become a wearer of fishnet pantyhose and/or evolve an exceptionally long tongue, so I believe this cartoon. ;)

Yeah that PDP-11 was just too much. I think the cool doll house computer was pretty neato, though! Working sprinklers, who would have thunk it! I have to admit, I had a lot of fun playing on your ぴゆうた there. Whatever that game was.

Oh, and I can attest that the laptop couldn't connect. We were having a great deal of anguish over it. Then I looked at the signal to noise ratio. WHOAH! I have NEVER seen a sig/noi ration of 1. I dragged the laptop out around the corner and it worked much better. But I had to get almost 50 away from that behemoth (the PDP-11) before it would work. Incidentally, I was trying to get CBs laptop ruinning so I could show him my hiragana parser. More on that in another thread...

> Whatever that game was.

The Pyuuta was playing Scramble, and the Tomy Tutor itself was playing Traffic Jam (a great simple driving game ... one guy was hooked on it for nearly forty minutes until he finally ran out of cars).

My Pyuuta Mark II finally cleared customs! It should be on its way to San Diego soon.

No, I don't think it had a particular name (it was just the Banana) ... the hacker was Oliver Wendell Jones, however.

The banana... yeah, I remember that... I thought it had "newton" for a name, and I do remember Oliver. If i can find the strips I kept of Bloom County, I'll show you the one I was looking for. ;2)

You know, shooby - for some reason, 'Newton' sounds familiar. I'll have to go check... If it wasn't the banana junior 6000, then his previous computer might have had a name. Where did I put that book...

Is it AMD Athlon XP Processor? I was going to build a computer that has that sort of processor. Your MB is still more than mine. Mines just 64.0MB which is still very low. Nice hard drive! Like I asked Tet-Chan, do you know what your modem is?
