Batman: HUSH!!! YEAHH!!!
Blankets by Craig Thompson. That's a graphic NOVEL, baby.
Sandman--no duh.
ElfQuest by Wendy and Richard Pini--just get the early volumes, around 1-8. The newer storylines aren't as compelling.
Courtney Crumrin by Ted Naifgeh or some odd spelling like that.
The Crow by J. O'Barr.
Origin (of Wolverine)--as long as you like X-men, Wolverine in particular.

One old Marvel boy here. I was mostly into the X-men and Wolverine back in the late 80's-early 90's. The age of enourmous, mutant themed crossovers (Mutant Massacre, Inferno). I got turned off to DC by the whole rewriting history of Crisis on Infinite Earths and by the cheesy 50-60's era Batman/Superman comics of my dad's. There have been quite a few quality titles and stories that I seemed to have missed out on by skipping them though.

Right now US comics just seem to be too expensive and "mature" and wrapped up in trying to fix things that weren't really broken. I know the whole "Ultimates" thing is set in another, parallel universe, but it was stuff like that which led to DC starting the world over at least twice that I can think of, and then eventually deciding they messed up and returned to the way things were to begin with. There is just too much focus on creating marketable stuff instead of good stories and characters. Of course all that is an outsider looking in anymore.

You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Rom. 6:18

God can do anything, anytime, anyway He wants to.......if He wants to paint me blue and hang me upside down nekkid from an apple tree, thats alright, as long as it's God doing it. Of course, if He comes through with a directive like that, I might have to ask for some I.D. Michael Wanke

I loved Bone! Don't you think it'd make a great TV show?

I've always liked Tintin and I keep hearing so many good things about Bone that I think I will have to try it.

The problem with Marvel is, they rush a storyline too quickly. I felt that they had a good thing going with The Age of Apocalypse and it was a nice change of things, but they rush it and everything was back to the real marvel timeline.

Sorry for not replying to this. So far, not so good. Some want the comics from the 80's, but not from the 90's.

Right now, I'm holding off on selling them for now. I haven't brought a price guide in years now and I need to.

Daredevil, X-Men, Spiderman, The Hulk, Batman, etc.

I pretty much read whatever I can get my hands on, like Rysing_Furi said; comics in Oz are expensive cause they have to get shipped here from the US, and theres only one store here in the city, so the prices are jacked up even more.

Ah, well. For some reason I imagine myself at 50 paying for my grandkids college with my New Avengers #1 collectors edition.

On a side note...does anyone think there are enough comic lovers here to warrant asking for a forum in the CAA dedicated to them? Or does the Manga forum sorta count? Just wondering.

Well it depends on how you look at it.Manga is a particuliar type of comic just as
anime is a particuliar type of animation,in that both are made in Japan as opposed to say America.
However if you mean the American style comics as opposed to manga style than
it be best to have a separate board for them.Although, especially in certain issues of
Uncanny X-Men the artists have used manga style to make the comics more interesting.
