There's no reason to worry about getting in trouble - it's a political question, not an instigation for a debate. I'm sorry I can't help you out - I was working last night and didn't see/hear the address.

What is being referred to here is the fact that one cabinet member traditionally sits out the state of the union address. There is a progression of who becomes President should something happen to the current sitting Commander In Cheif. The succession is as follows:

The Vice President
Speaker of the House
President pro tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education

Naturally, most of these are in attendance, but one must sit out in case something befalls all the others in order to lead the nation. The individual is not announced beforehand for security reasons and is kept guarded by Secret Service agents during the State Of The Union. Sadly, I also cannot find who was missing last night.

I think i know who was missing, the secretary of adequate funds, or perhaps the secretary of missing funds was too embarrissed to show up,

I'm pretty sure the secretary of the infinate loop of blaming problems on other secretary's departments showed up.

I feel wierd calling a guy a secretary. My worthless post, here to cheer you up, sorry we couldn't help you. But at least we made you smile.
I'm leaving CAA perminantly. i've wanted to do this for a long time but I've never gathered the courage to let go.
