Just got back from Sting's concert appearance in Seoul (first night of two). Good heavens, for a 50+ year-old man, he looks terrific. Played two hours straight, everything from ballads to R&B, but mostly his stuff from the Police and solo work.
Opened with "Send Your Love", "Message in a Bottle", and "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free". A tremendous back-up band, rivaling Springsteen's E Street Band for a live performance, and probably more versatile. "Roxanne" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" were crowd favorites, and it was fun to sing along.
He plays his own instruments. He doesn't lip sync. You can understand his lyrics (and they are meaningful and pretty clean). He didn't work the crowd much, but then again he really didn't need to.
Waxing a little nostalgic here, you couldn't turn on a radio in the '80s without hearing a Police song once an hour. But if you have the time and inclination, probably a concert tour worth catching.

I saw him live a couple years back here in Indy. Very good musical artist across the board. Good to hear he played alot of The Police and his solo stuff I didn't like much from his new album.

Though I should not have been surprised, plenty of people showed up with cameras and camcorders, and nobody was stopping them at the door. Furthermore, this is Korea, so just about everyone has a cell phone that takes pictures, too... except me....
I'll see if I can find some from the newspapers... he really does look like he hasn't aged (matured, but not aged) since the late '80s....
