The Punisher

Postby Stephen » Mon Jan 17, 2005 11:55 am

Anyone else stoked about this game? It uses the characters from the latest Punisher movie...but has its own storyline. I think there are somthing like 17 different weapons...its a pretty straight forward game...but it still looks fun. Bit of warning to those squimish over violence in games...it nearly got an AO rating for violence. They had to do some scenes in black and white ala Kill Bill to get the Mature rating. I guess its released Tuesday the 18th so hopefully I will have it tomorrow after work.

Spiderman has no role in the game. However we do see Matt Murdock as a lawyer. The game very much goes along with the comic feel though. So far I have seen quite a few comic chars. Kingpin, Black Kat, Nick Fury, Bullseye, Jigsaw, The Russian, and I have yet to see him...but I have read he is in the game...Ironman.

Hmm...I'm always a little wary of games based on movies...they're usually either below average or complete wastes of programming.

I'll wait and see what you think of it though.

Maybe I can live up to the last half of my name by saying I liked the Dolph Lungren movie better than the most recent one :P

Ok...one, I did not make this thread so people could give there theological view on vengance or whatever...So no offense Volt..but go blow the heads off some innocent zombies or somthing. As far as the game goes..I finished it last night...amazing overall. Great controls...theres a reason the lowest score ive seen for it online is a 6.5 out of 10. It really is good. As for Manhunt...Manhunt was no more gory then Punisher. The ratings boards have not really changed.

I can't stand it because of the way it shows Revenge.
Considering you openly admit to 1. Not seeing the new movie. And 2, not playing the game...You are simply speaking based on somthing you have read or seen someone say about it. Ladeeda. The point of the game/movie/comics is that the law has failed, a man has been wronged...and he will rid the world of crime. (in his own mind) You can play the whole game without torturing anyone if you chose...in fact you can play the game and only kill like 5 people...which...puts games like GTA Res Evil, etc etc makes them look tame. Personaly, I loved the game. I loved just about everything about it...good storyline...good cameos from comic chars. (Ironman, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Kingpin, Jigsaw) So I would advise anyone interested to rent it...give it a spin...and decide for themself. Don't rely on paranoid ratings boards or parent groups to decide what is appropriate for you. And remember, at the end of the day...your murdering pixils...which magicly upon hitting the power button are alive and fine....And one last thing. The Dolph Lungern verson being better then the new one? To each there own I suppose....

Sorry Volt, but I just cannot see how you do not feel hypocritcal slamming games like Punisher but praising resident evil. Murdering pixils is murdering pixils. As I said...things like the drill thing are optional. Much like hookers in GTA.

Nope, and I suppose thats were personal conviction comes into play. As far as the what if games you made, I could play those and not feel bad. Its just pixils. Nothing is harmed. I can go on a rampage in Punisher and kill a whole room of Itailian drug lords and not bat an eye...but my heart is not full of anger and hate. If I felt myself weak there I would certainly avoid violent games....but I fail to see your point. I don't agree about intent as far as games go. Death is death. Blowing a zombie in half is no different from drilling a mobster....both pixils. Its like saying someone who watches Resident evil the movie is guilty of murder when
Nemesis guns down the room of STARS agents
You are simply watching something made up unfold...and I really so no fault in that. I have no problem with you not liking the Punisher storyline...everyone has there own views on stuff...but what I do have a problem with is you lableing the game like its some horrible torture simulater...because its really not....playing it would show that. It just allows people freedom...much akin to GTA. If you are a sick person...you can do some mildly sick things....but in the end....pixils are pixils. Now if you don't mind...I hear some calling for....Punishment. *laughs*

Ill keep an eye out for it. Looks interesting but its also a game made after a movie. Theres only been a few good games made after movies but Ill give it a shot.

The game reminded me a great deal of Spiderman oddly enough. Not in game play...but in how it captured the look and feel of the comics and movies. Punisher has that same gritty feel all other Punisher stuff has had.
