Some really weird... mario ddr game

I dont like this one bit. I want to see some cartoon heros! some afronova! some v! some twinbee! some GOOD songs! I dont wanna dance to no donkey kong rap! Why konami why? WHY cant you just make a NORMAL ddr for gamecube?

Hopefully their songlist will be good, if not then... bleh

edit: and also there are these weird minigames you use with the dancepad. Sounds interesting

*joins Mr. SP in the infirmary*

I feel sick as well.

WHY KONAMI? WHY did you forsake us? WHY? You just HAD to follow suite with everyone else and make a crappy game for Gamecube, didn't you?

I mean...I like Mario, and all, and I like the music...but this...

IS NOT DDR MUSIC!

*cries*

I'm heartbroken...betrayed....

*wanders off as lost*

**EDIT**
Actually, I'd like to point out something that kaemmerite just brought up to me in a conversation about this over YIM.

It doesn't exactly say there are JUST Mario type songs on there...so, we can calm down for a little bit. Let's not jump to conclusions. Let us have faith in our beloved Konami still.

Heh, looks kinda' fun to me, but then again I'm the crazy kook who loves video game instrumental music and has a Goomba as an avy. Yes, I do like the DDR songlists, so if it has both, I'm cool. If it’s only got one or the other, I'm still cool.

Anyways, is this a good way to launch DDR on the Gamecube? No. But, Cubers who are unfamiliar with DDR will enjoy it like Donkey Konga.

Am I going to get it? Sure. Not for full admission, though. I see this game going to the bargain bin fast (with the dance-pad) if Konami doesn't have plans to follow-up with their DDR stuff and if it does come to America.

*stares in disbelief* >O<; Oh dear...the DDR Extreme for the PS2 was a bit of a let down, so....please say Konami isn't following in the way of the Squaresoft...or, excuse me, Square-Enix.

unfortunately, what kenshin says is true, not only that, but the majority of the games aren't all nasty and gorey like what you find available in walmart for the xbox, *sighs*, oh well, what's done is done, i seem to remember that they had a special playing pad for the original nintendo system that allowed for the player to play a special racing game that the pad came along with, i guess we're coming full circle, again....

Yes...someone should put a shotgun to Nintendo's head and force them to stop making new consoles. That way everyone can enjoy the great first-party software without having to buy another system just to play it.

Haha.... well, I guess I am the only one in America who is buying this or at least optimistic about the game itself….

Everyone reading: YES!

Anyways, it's somewhat understandable of why Nintendo is doing this, even if it's not a smart move. Well, first off, this pure profit for Nintendo, not Konami, but remember Soul Calibur 2? Without Link as a cameo character, I guarantee you the game wouldn't have sold as well as it did for the Gamecube if it had been without everyone's favorite “Christmas-mall-elf-with-a-swordâ€

Much anger I sense in these ones...
This is quite the odd idea for a game, but it seems like it'd be fun. I wouldn't pay for it, but I'd play it to check it out. Besides, this is just an off to the side game. I'm waiting for the new games made by Nintendo like the new Zelda.

cbwing0 wrote:Yes...someone should put a shotgun to Nintendo's head and force them to stop making new consoles.

If you're going to do it to Nintendo, why not to Sony and Microsoft? Why not make them make one console and make games for only it? Because it's a bad idea. The competition between these companies is what's making games and consoles better. You put them all on one and you're going to get even more lax games. Whether you like Nintendo or not, having them around is important if only to keep other companies from lowering their urge to make great games to beat the others.

Sorry, for the tangent...

geez, so much hate over video games. I thought the Mario DDR thing looked kinda cute, like many of Nintendo's other titles. it seems like more of a novelty title than anything, or perhaps they're just trying to appeal to the fans. who knows. either way, it doesn't deserve so much hate this early on. o_o

one thing I'll say is that the current mixes of DDR for the PS2 (except maybe Extreme) aren't really good for kids. there are songs with questionable lyrics and such. in my opinion, Nintendo seems to like to cater to the younger audience, so maybe that's what they're trying to accomplish here.

now I'm not defending the N by ANY means. I turned my back on them with N64 and haven't looked back since. (well, maybe a fleeting glance now and again.) their first-party titles and exclusives just aren't enough to convince me to buy their system and that's that.

edit: while on the topic of DDR, yes, Extreme was a MAJOR disappointment for fans of the import like me. there are only about ten actual DDR originals on the mix, and while they're good songs, they're not enough to hold up the whole game. I'd like to shoot whoever had the brilliant idea to put random 80s songs like Kids In America and Go West on the game. DDRMAX + MAX2 are both 100 times better than Extreme. >_<

im not TOO mad about mario in it. (No snazzy backgrounds unfortunately)

but the songlist is all i really care about. If the song list sucks... then.... ill still probably buy it anyway

That was the exact opposite of the point that I was trying to make. Like Sega, Nintendo would probably make more money by bringing it's franchises to the other systems than by being stubborn and trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft. If all that was left was Sony and Microsoft making consoles, that would still leave plenty of competition between two companies that are committed to success in the console gaming market.

The reason that Nintendo in particular should stop is that the only real attraction of a Nintendo console is the first-party software. Without it, the Gamecube would be a joke. Resident Evil 4? It will eventually be released for other systems. Soul Calibur 2? Never an exclusive. DDR with Mario? I think the response from this thread shows how popular that will be.

:red: I was mistaken and I apologize for mis-stating your thoughts. No hard feelings I hope.
Yes if Nintendo got rid of making consoles it would still have plenty of profit in games, and they would probably make more if they sent their games to other systems too. But you don't see a lot of compliance there from the others either. I understand it's annoying to have to buy a new system just to get a game you want. I personally would love to have Kingdom Hearts or Mercenaries or Halo 2, but I can't because I don't have the right system. But I don't have any say in those companies and I just have to deal with it.
*sigh* I'm sorry if I'm mis-stating you again, but I think Nintendo could really bring something great to consoles just the same as Sony and Microsoft have, and I for one don't want them to quit before they get there.

Before Nintendo would ever consider dropping out of the console race, they'd improve 3rd party relations. Yet, Nintendo is one of those companies that likes to relies on themselves. In the coming years (if not just year) Nintendo is going to have to reach out and build relations withl other companies. This next-generation of consoles are going to require that, because all of the new consoles are going to be so different. No cross platform games and the cheap advertising games will hopefully die out (that's just a waste of money, all around). I really think the price of games is going to increase, too.

If this Mario DDR is a full-on Mario rythm game, this is surprising. (Btw, still, no American release plans have been revealed.) Nintendo is very stubborn with its mascots. (I'm speaking of consoles, not portable) This year has just began and it seems Nintendo is already lending it's characters.... a Mario team will be in the next EA B-ball game.

Maybe Nintendo will come around with it's third-party relations. The Resident Evil remakes and Metal Gear Solid remakes were a big surprises, but E3 will be the big teller and shower if something's changing.

Edit: Major bad grammar >.<

It's possible. Major break-ups and new alliances form in the coming months before the next group of systems are released. Hopefully, we’ll hear some word at E3.

Just because Nintendo isn't the #1 console/game company doesn't mean they're about to die off. Apple is not the number one computer manufacturer, but they're doing fine. No, Nintendo is not running itself into the ground. It is still quite profitable. So no, they're not going to follow in Sega's footsteps.

I've been a loyal nintendo fan since day #1 so even if it becomes a lame and you get ridculed (which I already do ::sweat:: ) for owning one, I'd still have the latest console by them.

As for DDR, I tried it once, stunk at it and disliked it. To explain how badly I suck at DDR, anyone familiar with Legendary Frog's flash movies? Well...he mad one where Ark is playing DDR and he's not even hitting a single right button thing and of course the machine taunts him.

I'm worse than that. I'd make the machine explode because of my bad DDR-ing.

=P And Smartypants is right, all you need is practice. xD; Just be sure to get the home version and turn off the booing and the taunting.
