I saw a trailer for this movie and it looked really cool. It's rated R but I couldn't find out why. Can anybody fill me in on the content?

Rated R for some violence. According to filmratings.com ...Wasn't the CB movie rated for only violence? You liars...

Cowboy Bebop was probably rated R because of the close proximity of it's release in relation to 9/11. Personally I thought it was closer to a PG-13, though maybe we should emulate the UK and add a 15+ rating.

Appleseed looked pretty violent from the trailers I saw. However, there seems to be no other country ratings for the movie currently posted, so there's nothing to compare.

My main objection to it is the over use of CG. I like my anime to have a cel-based look even if it is made on computer

I saw the original Appleseed... I thought it was entirely lame... Very disappointed. I'm not interested in the remake, even if it IS one of the few anime to get a theatrical release in the US.

great animation (though shaky at times) but it has a really bland plot. and apparently theres a good number of scenes where people are cracking up due to the (bad) dub; which doesnt really surprise me, theres absolutely no one notable in it. wait for the DVD and watch the sub.

I heard that it was a very typical anime... a futuristic cyberpunk, no less. Is this assumption correct?
