Alright, everything we have decided so far:

1) The name of the group will be Prayer Guardians

2) Im not enitrely sure on this... which did we end up choosing; Group type setting or free-for-all prayer style?

3) If the prayer Request-er feels comfortable with it, they are free to give out their first name or nick

4) We should start up a thread with tips for praying (includings ACTS and verses from the Bible)

5) Fasting (if one feels led) is encouraged. It doesnt have to be food or drink, it could be time on comp / TV and stuff like that

6) Praying in tongues is fine, but if you promise to pray for someone keep them in mind while doing it (is this ok? I'm pretty sure thats how my mum prays)

7) No short posts / spamming!!!

8)
- Don't put others down. It is easy to condemn but not so easy to build others up, which is what we are aiming to do
- Write down prayer requests so you dont forget to pray (<- suggestion)
- Remember that you are ambassadors for Christ (treat others with respect; dont swear; try not to get into arguments...)
- Dont be afraid to fast if you feel led
- If you say 'I'll pray for you", mean it

9) Requirement is: You must have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour

10) Fasting day once a month (maybe the first day of the month? to get the month off to a good start! :thumb: )

11) Whoever wishes to join may do so, but if they spam or do not act in such a way that brings glory to God, we warn them a few times before asking them to leave

Is that all? I think I've got most of the stuff...

Actually - it's probably a good encouraging thing to mention that I was feeling TERRIBLE, so sick and sore and I felt like I couldn't handle it. I prayed to God - just said, "Jesus, please help," and within a minute I just had my head on my knee and the pain and sickness had reduced to a much lower, more tolerable level. Praise God. We know he answers prayer, but that's just another example of his kindness.

Thats great stuff CA! Hallelujah! :D :jump:

Your Mum is a kiwi and an intercessor, Talame? That's awesome.

Lol :P She is officially Australian now  Even so, we have alot in common, wouldnt you say? O.O
<.<

Maybe we are related!! :wow!:

I think this sounds great, and I would definitely be interested, especially since the Prayer Room is where most of my posts go anyway (you can check -- just about every thread here has a post from me -- hope that doesn't sound like bragging though, 'cuz it's not  ).

However, I have one issue about the short "I'll pray" posts. I do that often, and I see nothing wrong with it. Sometimes, there is nothing else to say but that, but that doesn't mean I'm not praying. Sometimes God leads me to give advice or a related testimony or additional comments, but sometimes He doesn't.

I think that policy should be further discussed. I can see why you wouldn't want people just clogging up threads with stuff like that, but I put it down to let someone know that I am praying for him/her and that I have seen it, not to mention to let myself know that I have responded to the request thread.

Let's discuss that some more (or someone PM me, if necessary). :thumb:

It was Ash that said no 'I'll pray' posts. I understand wanting to let the person know that you are praying for them... maybe instead of just writing a few words, you could also write a quick prayer along with it and promise tat you will pray for them further. That way, its not a short post but you still let them know you care for them :thumb:

Edit: btw, forgot to say that you are most welcome to join! :thumb:

Will we have a motto to put on sigs or something?

I suppose that posting a prayer would be okay. I guess we'll just see how things go when we get it all started! :thumb:

And I think having a motto or a little logo to put in the sigs would be great!

Actually, I've been working on a sig. I wanted to ask about it - but Rogie bet me too it. *Waves to Rogie*. I haven't really seen you around before - weird - but I'm glad to have met you. :)

I've made a banner-ish thing. It's smaller than my usual size, for smaller file size and not to clutter up sigs too much. It's actually funny that Rogie San asked about it... I'd been experimenting around with ideas today.

So it's simply an idea, and I don't mind if we end up choosing a different one or not going with a banner. This one is an animated gif - but I can do a non-animated one, make the words a little clearer or try to change the animation, too. So if there's any suggestions I'll give it a go.

I don't know if you can see - but those are feathers in the background. I was kind of trying to tie in with the idea of how God 'hides us under his wings' In the Psalms I think. I've been told blue is the colour of the Holy Spirit, too - and it looked nice. ^_^ So - enjoy!

Oooo!!! Very pretty!!!! I like it the way it is, and I absolutely adore the feathers! I had been thinking about making an angel type sig to convey the exact same thing as you did CA ;) :thumb: (i wont though... cant find any decent anime angel pics O.O Verrrrry scary. DONT search under google)

Thanks, Talame! :)
I hope you're enjoying your 2005. ^_^

Going with what Mr. Rogie said, I think it'd be cool if we had a logo or motto. True, we don't want to get caught up with the 'look' of the thing (banners, sigs, mottos) instead of the purpose, but it would be nice to put something in the sig ;) .

I've talked to my Mum and she has a sheet that an Intercessory organisation uses as a guide to 'cover' themselves before they pray. I'm not sure what everyone knows about prayer, etc, but in case some don't, when you pray it's a good idea to pray for protection from God, because I guess in a way you're stepping out when you pray, perhaps especially so when for another person. Things like first confessing and repenting of sins, submitting to God and making sure you're not going into an area that is too 'heavy' or that you are not graced to be going into... that just makes things safer, and prevents a lot of backlash.

That's what I've picked up. Is it a little too vague, or does anyone want to add to it, or offer a different opinion? The reason I mentioned it is because the sheet makes an excellent guide to get into prayer and to be protected, and I wondered if it would be all right if I posted it for anyone who would like to have a look at it and/or use it.

Take care, and God bless. I know I said this before, but still: excellent, apt thread, Syreth. Thank you for starting it.

Hmmmm. :P Lol actually the first thing that popped to mind was that famous picture of Uncle Sam pointing and the tag line "Interceding for YOU!" :P lol

Anyway, I did a quick search and found a few verses on prayer:

Romans 12:12 - Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Colossians 4:2 - Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

1 Timothy 2:8 - I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

James 5:16 - Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. Spiritual warfare shouldn't be taken lightly. Actually, James 5:16 says that we have to confess our sins to eachother. Please put up the whole sheet for us to read :D :thumb:

No problem. God wanted to do something before I even posted. I was just a little piece of the puzzle, so to speak. Thanks to Talame for suggesting that we start this group, and even heading it up. It'll be awesome to see what God continues to do. In the meantime, lets pray while we're in these beginning stages.

Psalm 88:13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD ]Psalm 141:2[/B] May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Maybe we could take all the verses that we find and put them into a thread or something once we get enough.

Well, I suppose this is a good time to say that I am indeed praying for this group and that God's will be done regarding it. (That's a little longer than just saying "I'll pray", right? )

Anyway, I was wondering when the group was going to begin asking for members.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking! I thought everything was a "go!" Also, if you all need me to do anything, I'm willing to help out as this thing starts up, especially since I never responded to this thread when it started out.

You can PM me with any of that stuff, if you like, though. :thumb:

Ok, how bout this for a post:

----------------------------------------------
Hello everyone!! It is my great pleasure to announce the opening of Prayer Guardians, a group dedicated to praying for CAA members. We are still in the developing stages of this group, but if you feel led to join this group, please dont hesitate. There is really one main requirement for joining PG, and that is that you have to have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

Here are some guidelines that we have come up with to help keep PG an effective prayer team.

1) Don't put others down. It is easy to condemn but not so easy to build others up, which is what we are aiming to do
2) Write down prayer requests so you dont forget to pray (<- suggestion)
3) Remember that you are ambassadors for Christ (treat others with respect; dont swear; try not to get into arguments...)
4) Dont be afraid to fast if you feel led (doesn't have to be food and drink... it could be TV/comp time)
5) If you say 'I'll pray for you", mean it
6) Praying in tongues is fine, but if you promise to pray for someone keep them in mind while doing it
7) Please, no short posts / spamming. This was the only requirement put on us by the mods. If you want to let someone know that you are praying for them, but cant think of anything else to say but "'Ill pray", then maybe consider writing a short prayer along with it.

Also, if the member requesting for prayer support is comfortable with it (please dont if your not), feel free to say your first name / nick. This way the prayer people wont have to say "Lord, please help superanimeman123" ;) (quoting Syreth :thumb: )

We will be starting up a thread that shall have a few tips for praying / fasting, as well as some Bible verses related to praying. We are also thinking about having a day a month that we all fast something.

O, and if you do join this group please dont feel that you cant post any prayer requests. On the contrary, talk to your team mates. after all, "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there
in the midst of them" ;)
---------------------------------------

Is this alright? Did I miss anything?

Sounds good, Talame!
I'll try and type my Mum's prayer guide up tomorrow (getting late now). Perhaps we should also mention the fact that if you are having problems of any kind, GO TO THE MEMBERS OF YOUR TEAM - because it's most definitely not good trying to battle things out alone. "When two or more are gathered..." .

Otherwise, I can't think of anything esle. ^_^ . Good evening, all!

Everything looks great. I will continue to pray for Prayer Gardians.
