My friend is dead

Postby Hitokiri » Wed Jan 12, 2005 10:24 pm

A good friend of mine died tonight from drug overdose.

I was playing a video game when we recieved a call that a friend of mine was taken into the emergency care unit. Later, the mother of my friend called telling us he has died. It was rather sudden and I fell into shock.

I arrived shortly after with my parents and I saw him. Laying on the cot. Very surreal, like a nightmare. His mother was clinging on to him and crying out "Oh God, I love you! Here's my son, whom i give unto you." Even the father who was usually strict and unemotional was on his knees. It broke my heart and even more so with them. Shortly after, my best friend and his fiance (the ones who recently got engaged) arrived. This is my best friends older brother who died. I never seen him so distraught before and it tore my heart. Everyone wept however after the tears were shed, people began praying over him and a calmness took over us.

However, his girlfriend arrived and I could hear her screaming from the other side of the building. She went psycho and she was restrained. As we speak, the mother of my friend, my other, and another friend are witnessing to her. I'm not sure if she will be well enough to see him.

The other brother who lives in Colombus with his wife just found out and will be leaving tommorow. He is dealing with anger problems at his brother so pray for him.

Apparently, my friend overdosed on drugs and died in a McDonalds resturnant. His life seemed to be on track, he was attending church and was getting invovled, he went back to school and was going into Weilding, marriage was a possibility between him and his girlfriend, and he seemed to being good in his job. Last time I saw him was New Years Eve and he was happy as ever. I knew for a fact he was off from drugs and getting drunk so I'm guessing he bough the drugs for this purpose. He had a history of drugs 5-6 years ago and when his family accepted Christ, he was sent to a Christian Drug Rehab center where he accepted Christ. After, he went nto a rut but he came back out from it and since then, I knew he was't on drugs.

I'm not asking God why he took my friend cause there was a purpose and something good will come from it and I'm putting my faith in him but I find myself asking "Why this family". I love this family to death and to see the mother who to me is like a second mom just cryingout truly breaks my heart.

Please pray for the family. Thanks

This family needs prayer. That they will be encouaged and keep God first and foremost.

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

I do not know and to me...any drug it was, I hate it.

I feel selfish since I'm not suffering as much but pray for me. I hit me pretty hard and it's just...I'm not crying cause I can't anymore but I feel a saddness I have never felt before. I was told one of my friends would die in my lifetime, I didn't realize what it meant until it happened. Also pray fo rmy sister cause sheis only 12 and it's really hard on her.

Thanks for the prayers.

O man, that must be tough. To lose a child or one you love in any circumstance would be torment. I'll keep both your and his family in my prayers, as well as his girlfriend. Hopefully some good will come out of this tragedy :(

I'll definately be praying. This seems like it must've been a huge shock to everyone since they probably thought the drug problem was dealt with. I'll pray that the family and friends will be drawn closer to Jesus through this.
Something similar actually happened to one of my roommate's friends at college. My roommate used to be into drugs a lot (he was a dealer) and now he has his life straightened out, growing in the Lord and such, and he gets a call one day finding out that his friend OD'd on heroine. He was pretty shook up.
I'll also pray for his girlfriend, that she would respond to the love of Jesus.

That is terrible, I am so sorry. My condolences to you Hitokiri. I shall pray for them and for you as well to get through this pain.

*kneels and prays*

Lord, strengthen Hitokiri and his friends family, so they will get through this and God bless Hito's friend's soul, and have mercy upon it. Amen.

Wow. That's a pain I have never experienced and it's one I cannot imagine. I'll be praying for everybody involved.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Oh man, this is deep.

Sometimes we think that nothing can get to us, that we are impervious. How often are we wrong. Last year, my 2nd cousins' grandfather was on his deathbed. Though I often saw him during our many family gatherings, we were never particularly close. Yet when I saw him on that deathbed, I nearly collapsed. It was terrible.

Hitokiri, how much harder it must be for you, who lost someone even closer to you than Lolo Pons was to me! Compared to this tragedy, all my other problems seem trivial. I'll remember you in my supplication.

Thanks so much guys and to my surprise, I am in tears right now. The prayers are helping. Family is pouring in for the weekend for the memorial service at our church. Prayers, cards, and hugs are flooding in to them as we speak. Thanks again.

A autopsy was performed but I don't know the details (what drug it was, how much he took, etc) They have decided to go with cremation and a memorial service will be held. I will keep you guys updated.

Also I talked to the mother and she thanks everyone for praying for the family. It means alot to her that Christians around the country and the world are praying despite what is going on around the world. She loves each and everyone of you and she is thankful for your love, prayers, and encouragement.

Praise God that He's able to work out some good in these situations, huh. Something similar happened to my friend as well. He died at 16 from a brain tumor. He was a strong believer and it was extremely sad to see him suffer like that, but through his death, the gospel was preached to hundreds and his grandfather came to know Christ. I will keep praying.

I just got back from the familes house. They are doing better then great. I've heard of other families devistated by this type of ordeal but they are putting thier trust into God. They know he is Heaven and at last, that drug addiction that plagued him for 9 years is gone. They rejoice in that.

They had a unofficidal open house yesterday where people just visited them, prayed with them, and talked to them. hen tonight they had a get together and even though the death weighed on people's hearts, thier was laughter and joy in the house. Despite this terrible trajedy, they are beginning to put thier front foot foward and carry on with life.

Oh and I just thought to add this...they are having a memorial service tommorow a few hours after church.

How sad...*hug* It must be terrible...I lost my best friend a long time ago, I grew up with her, she was my grandma's dog Lady and we saw each other a lot...she protected me and I went through a really long grieving period. But I've never lost a human friend, so I can't even begin to know how hard it is.......................................

I'd just like to say I just got back from the memorial service and it went fantastic. The mother gave a great and heart touching testimony that everyone cried at but changed people's hearts. I shared a bit of the good memories. And some how we fit 300 people into a 200 max sanctuary

the family thanks yu guys for your prayers and concerns (yes, they have seen this topic).
