Well i just bought a used PS2 version of FFX: 2 . great right? NO FRICKING WAY.
After the starting CG scence ( with Yuna singing) the screen goes dark and theres noises comin from my PS2. Its really weird, like a cd skiping over and over.

the game was scratched in so many places. I dont want to take it back, ive always wanted to play it...T_T

But when i went back they cleaned the smudges but not the scratches.

Sodoes anyone have any Fools-proof way to get rid of scratches?

Im thinkin toothpaste but im still not sure.

Though i COULD return it if I mess it up :p

There are CD/DVD/VG disc cleaners you can pick up for about twenty bucks that can remove light scratches.

Be warned, however, that it only removes light scratches, not deep ones. Also, it will not remove label side damage.

You can find these at Suncoast, Same Goody, Best Buy, and other stores of that nature.

o.O we buy used a lot and we never have a problem. usually the game stores won't take a game if it's damaged. where did you get it?

Game Doctor works exceptionally well. It's repaired a number of messed up disks to working condition for me.

Although, as a rule of thumb, I only buy used games as a last resort. (Cartridges are the only exception)

You're not missing much. Really.

However, if you insist. One of those mechanisms like Skip Dr or one of the other good brands will take out most of the scratches. This is a good way to go.

HOWEVER, you should be able to take the game back. If they don't take it back, then you're kinda screwed with it unless you do the above mentioned things. However they can't really sell you a damaged product. No wonder they're going out of business...

Well if they're going out of business that's not really a good thing, EB and Gamestop gurantee that their used products will work. Besides you can get the game new for $20 at every place I've looked at recently.

Like Kae said you could use a product like a Game Doctor to remove light scratches from it though.

scam or not, they work. I can't say they all do. But many do.

And not all of them hide the scratches. Some actually remove a small layer of the cd, removing many light scratches.

i've heard that toothpaste can help with regular cd's, but personally if things don't work out, you can always try to trade it in at either the new store that's going out of business (something about that sounds bad) or you can take it to one of the big boys and try to get a credit there, you might also look into getting a cd player cleaner 'cus there may be some dust or something on your laser lens keeping it from reading the disc properly, in any case a friend of mine has played both ff10 and ff10-2 and he said that neither one was very good, the battle system itself is the only reason why he held on to them, and he got 10-2 just to see who it was that the girls were looking for, you can always try selling it on ebay if all else fails, good luck

Dude I feel ya I bought FF8 used brough it home..didnt play.

The best thing to do is check it before leaving the mall or whatever then feel around with your nail on your pink finger so you wont damage the dic but fel the scratches.

I remember I bought PSO episode I for DC for 5 bucks once. This was waaaay after the death of the dreamcast and I of course couldn't get online. But hey, I played it for awhile to see what it was all about. I got my 5 bucks worth.
