Hi all I'm new here. I'm 26 and became intrigued with anime when I first saw a Robotech/Macross episode when I was little. So when it comes to anime I'm a mecha/"giant robot"/sci-fi fan. I could never see Robotech often when I was young and only until about 2 years ago when I discovered Toonami was I able to see it again.

So is anyone else here a mecha/"giant robot"/sci-fi fan? Any suggestions of good clean "giant robot" series?

I haven't seen much of any Robotech episodes so I don't know how overall clean and wholesome it may be. But I'm interested in buying a set or two.

The Big O has also REALLY got my attention. I caught a few episodes on Toonami a year or so ago and have become intrigued with it. The whole detective/batman-like/mecha thing is cool to me. I noticed there is a 13 episode collector's set out and have been thinking about getting it. However I'm not entirely sure if I should.

If there's one thing I'm apprehensive about with anime it's how it will go smoothly and coherent then out of no where it gets SUPER WEIRD and full of fanservice and/or mysticism or humanism. I hate that. It's so annoying.

If this is in the wrong forum I apologize. It started out as a review but then I decided to introduce myself first.

I'd definately recommend Gundam Wing for the "giant mecha" category. I loved it, personally. Warning wise, the uncut has a few swearing, and some blood, but no nudity I know of. Toonami has some edited dvds out there, I believe. Definately worth it, as is the OVA, Endless Waltz.

The Big O is pretty good, they do have a second season out so if you want to wait until that is on DVD, you can. I'd also like to agree to Ash on GW, it's an overall good series.

BTW, Welcome and enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes I forgot to mention that I like Gundam. However at this point I'm confused by most of it. I saw 08th MS Team on Toonami and thought it was great. I also saw some of the 0080 series and like it as well.
I had bought a used copy of Endless Waltz but the dvd skipped so I took it back.

Is there an edited version of 08th MS Team available? I remember reading somewhere that the unedited version has some choice language and a fanservice scene in it.

Watch the unedited version mate. The CN version sucks. The villians evil-ness is downplayed, the emotional tragedies, the desperat preservation of life, I could go on and on...
