GTA.... saving a family from danger?

this is absolutely hilarious
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/121104_local_videogame.html

Back in March, Sandy Wilson was taking care of her three grandsons when a group of men attempted to burglarize her home, pointing a gun at the kids.

The children happened to be playing a video game called Grand Theft Auto at the time. The game has dozens of random police scanner messages, which blare out calls such as "This is the police! You’re surrounded!" Believe it or not, Wilson says the burglars heard that message and thought police were outside the door waiting for them.

Galveston County Asst DA Michael Elliott explained, "The police in the game were staying, 'Stop, we have you surrounded. This is the police.’ The burglar, unknowingly, thought this was the actual police and panicked ... being apprehended by Playstation."

Heh, I saw this. This is pretty darn cool. I had to laugh though.

What's not funny is that the one guy only got probation. What the heck. probation does like nothing. I would be more upset getting a timeout from recess than getting probation.

Perhaps I just dont know this guys role in the whole thing. maybe it was a minor part.

He wasn't referring to you. It was a generic "you" used to reference no particular person but express a position.

That having been said, that is pretty funny.

The english language does not distinguish between a singular "you" and a plural "you" (which is vaguely annoying). In this case, I approve of cbwing0's use of "you" as opposed to "they" because the two give somewhat different impressions and I think the former works better.

But this is quite tangental. Let us return to the topic of this thread.

Well, when I play games, I like to have the volume up as loud as possible till someone fusses at me to turn it down. (Usually my mom)

I read this one on slashdot earlier this week. Hilarious.

Today I was playing Need For Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed in my living room; I have a cheap gaming/DDR machine hooked up to the big TV in there. I decided to have a little fun by blasting my horn at my opponents, and all of a sudden my mom jumps up out of her chair and races to the front door. A minute later she came back in the living room and sat down, saying, "I could of swore I heard someone sitting out in our driveway honking their horn!"

I just snickered to myself.

LOL Sometimes mom get's mad at me because she thinks I'm banging stuff around in my room when I'm listening to music or playing games with the volume turned up.

It's a pretty gruesome game. I've played the original one. Basically you steal alot of cars and kill alot of people (including innocent civilians and police). I can't imagine how much more repulsive it probably has become over the newer incarnations of the game.

Dang that's hilarious!

GTA is a violent game, the one thing that it has going for it is the freedom of the game, more games should have that kind of ability to choose. Not the violence, of course, but that.
