Skit that I'm sure most of you are all to familiar with

Postby Bobtheduck » Wed Sep 24, 2003 9:13 pm

A conversation among three friends. So-and-so (not related to so-and-so from the "Teen Girl Squad") Whoosits, and Frank

"I found out that Bobby likes those Japanese cartoons... He's allready 21! He really needs to grow up... I mean, he's even taking Japanese, I bet it's just so he can watch more cartoons." remarked Whoosits.

"Yeah, I heard from joe-shmoe about those japanese anima's, they're like, cartoon porn or something..." So-and-so replied.

"What? He's into porn!? That's sick... He's not invited to my house anymore..." Frank declared as he had his nose in the Sport's Illustrated Swimsuit edition. "Well, guys, I'm bored"

"Me too" said Whoosits

"Same here... Man, can't believe he's watching kiddy cartoon porn. You know he's going straight to hell. Japan is such a dark nation... I'm so glad we live in America." So-and-so Said

"Yeah, I know." said Whoosits.

"Hey, you guys wanna come watch Titanic with me?" Frank asked

"Yeah!" the other two both replied.

I really need to make a movie about the new predjudices... I think I'll start on it soon.

I also just had a great idea for a AMV... It will be "Suicide is painless" from Mash, and use several anime, but one in particular being "Grave of the Fireflies" Man... I so wish I had that kind of equipment... I would make a kick-butt video of skits and music videos! Not to mention the movie I plan on shooting soon, and the TV show...

[quote="St. Peter"]Whoever said Japan is a dark nation has his cranium inserted in his rectum]

This skit was pieced together from actual conversations over many years and things I've read... So, yeah...

The "dark nation" quote was from a Christian Magazine, though I forget which one. And it's a sentiment I heard echoed by many many Christians, including "Focus on the Family" and their "Plugged In" magazine.

As for your last line there "Maybe this whole religion thing is overrated or maybe that's just my dark side seducing me into evil deeds." what exactly did you mean by that?

Also, it irks me that non-christians make better movies, games, and usually make better stories than Christians... Ok, so it's not related, because the things I have mentioned need to change, but the thing that you mentioned is dependent of the person. "Seek first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all of these things (food, clothing, shelter, etc...) will be given to you"

I believe God keeps many of us poor to prevent a temptation that may be too strong for us if we had money. He won't let us go through any more than we can handle, so if you're under temptation, that means you can (with the Help of the Holy Spirit) handle it, so if you don't have money, that may mean God is protecting you for now.

LOL, this would be really funny if it weren't sadly so true with so many people. :shake: And yeah, I read the Focus on the Family article, but they have nothing on some other sites. PM being sent.

I'm thinking of making videos on these little skits, I can send them over IM when I get them captured (but that means I gotta get a swimsuit edition...) which won't be a while since I myself have no capture devices... Nor do I have the capability to convert to DivX, and I ain't sending them in MPEG 1 format...

I'll make more skits soon... This could be a regular feature for me, but if that's the case I'll put them in writing.

I like this one Bob The Duck. But it's so true to life it's scary. Stuff like this skit really happens every time I go to church....It's sad but it's the truth. But I've been wanting to do a manga Like megatokyo but with things along the lines of what your writing. I got ideas but I try so hard to write but I can't. Well I get somwhere with the drawing part, But I'm still really bad at drawing anime or non-anime. But hey I'm slowly building my little anime studio I have most of the stuff to do some Flash Cartoons but the thing that I can't really do well is the drawing part and the hardest thing for me is the writing part. I just wanna do a manga but I so suck at drawing. But I'm gonna get my setup for doing AMV's soon all I need is a capture card And I'm set.

Sad, but doens't surprise me.... Christian ignorance shines more brightly than most anything else we do most of the time.

I think too that we often times get so wrapped up (as a community) with the mindset that since they aren't serving God by being a part of whatever religion they are (i.e. Budist, Shinto, etc.) that we forget that many/most of these people looking for God and just have gotten lost (or deceived) along the way.

It's not the dislike for anime that bugs me the most, but the hypocricy. People preach against movies like "spirited away" for it's shinto roots, but will hail "Jurassic Park" as this wonderful movie despite it's evolutionary humanistic views. And they will shy away from scary images and latch on to the things that look so good (like "Pay it forward" which is basically leading up to the idea of utopia... A very non-christian idea, though I can't get into it right now) but aren't...

I believe you can pull good things out of a lot, and the apostle paul believed the same thing if I read acts right. First off "I become all things for all people that I may bring some to christ" as well as practical evidence of this being put to work in Acts. He used the beliefs and mindsets of the people at the time to bring the message of Christ to people. And I think that Christians so immersed into an entertainment society like the US (or Japan) should be able to pull things out of any work with good in it, refute the bad, and discuss and glean from things with the Bible as a base. And then turn around and use those very same tactics to reach non-christians. I guess dispite my love of knowledge, my "christian job" seems to tend more towards "evangelist" though I have been very scared to talk to people about that in real life.

I am of the belief that Christians should be in almost every aspect of society, and be an influence when it's allowed. And when it's not allowed, in China for instance, or in public schools (it's not allowed for adults such as teachers, for instance) then we go underground or figure out a way we can get in those places (with students intstead of teachers, for instance) In a society that is mostly "free" (but losing those "freedoms" calculatedly as time goes on) we have an opportunity to be a part of media. We need to take that opportunity with prayer and support of other christians. However, Christians in western countries have had the seperatist view for so long that they are affraid of and hate all media, and the ones that have delved into it have done so under that same paranoia and dishonesty. I think it's about time for a new work and for Christianity to have a voice in every medium and every workforce and for us to start doing our jobs again! I think it's about time we lived for the kingdom and not for each other or ourselves (though living for each other is PART of living for God's kingdom) I believe Christians need to look carefully at Jesus' and Paul's and Peter's and James' words and start acting like real Christians again... And we must not make comprimises to the biblical truth, but must be willing to shed our "traditions" in favor of what the Bible actually says. We can't let society outweigh biblical truth, but that applies to our allowances as well as our forbidences... We can no longer assume anything we've been taught is biblical just because uncle billy bob said it was, we need to (as a group, not merely by ourselves) look at what the book really says. I think there is going to come a great change in the Christian world, and I believe that people are going to come into the public eye, or groups, or just sentiments by the nameless and faceless, that is going to change Christian thought and all for God's Glory... Um... Ok, I'll get off my soapbox.

But doesn't it irk you when so many atheists and followers of pagan religions do better economically than you?!?

Not really. Moth and rust destroy around these parts.

YES!! Why is it always that Christian stuff has to be second-rate?

The Good Will Not Be Cloned...Or Why Should Christians Have All The Bad Music...I love this saying. It's from A not so well know christian band called Joy Electric. I love this band but there songs are really deep with just issues like this and stuff. Why should we have everything bad or second rate! But The Bible says My people parish for lack of knowledge! What that means is no one knows how to do these things and that's why there is not much of this stuff out there. So that's why in generation it's important for us to do these things that no one has done before in hope that other people see these things and learn how do it and then it spreads like fire. So then there would be so much christian Anime we wouldn't have to watch any non-christain Anime ever again!....well ok I don't know if that would ever happen but I hope your getting my point. I wish people would just stop being christians that think everything and everyone that's not christian is Satan and trying to destroy or hinder them in some way and start using what Satan Uses and reverse the flow. To minister in any way form or shape they can to reach out and tell the world about the gospel! That is the only way we are going to reach this dying world!

That song is an omage to an old song by Larry somethingrather called "Why should the devil have all the good music"

I forgot the dude's name, but I know someone who dated a guy in his band... Hehe... Anyhow, it's the same guy who wrote "I wish we'd all been ready" if you remember who that was, tell me... He's in the same category as Bob Dylan... I guess, anyhow.

Hey Bob, if you're looking to encode something, check out the Xvid codec:

http://www.xvid.org/

ITs as good as (and in many cases, better than) DivX, and I think has these bonuses:

1) it's free (opensource)
2) no spyware (as the latest version of the free Divx 5.1 now has)
3) not as buggy
4) compatible with Divx players/codecs (will play on Divx-only PCs that don't have xvid)

Check it out. I have and am glad I did for my encoding needs. Ja ne.

being a boy who came from the philippines, some people think directly that my religious belief is somewhere between pagan or buddhism.
thats a misconception, that all (native) asians are non christians.
to prove my fact the philippines is 95% christian the other 5% is muslim.
we've been sending missionaries to japan since the colonization days (check my sig) and I think that were getting through japans tough outer covering.

I've got some good friends from the philipines, I think the very nature of this site counts out any of us thinking there is a nation that's "darker" or "more evil" than another... However, the 95% christianity thing makes me wonder... In Fiji it's about the same among ethnic Fijians, however most of them say they are christians whether they believe or act on any of Jesus words or even know them. There is still violent crimes AMONG THOSE CALLING THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS and a lot of problems there (riots, coups etc...) and many people involved in a lot of bad stuff (sexual immorality with no remorse or repentance, for instance) and honestly the Christianity is something that is a name only with many of the people there. Of course, I know many true Christians, but it is quite easy to call yourself a Christian and change nothing about your life, like it's easy to say "I'm a silver teddy bear" and not be one... or, lets say, "I'm buff" and be skinny or fat and not be buff, that is probably more accurate analogy... That is the same as the US. That is guaranteed to happen in pretty much all nations with religious "freedom." I have seen some stuff on the news that happens in the Phillipines, and talked to my fillipina friends (don't have any male friends there) and there is some bad stuff going on. I think that may be what he was talking about... I don't think any of us believe that it is a "darker" nation that some other nation.

Of course, it's not a wise thing to do to speak for others, so forget what I just said... I don't know what anyone else thinks here.

BTW, on the "buff" analogy, just going to the gym doesn't make you buff either...
