How much sleep do you guys get?

Postby HeliosX86 » Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:30 am

Just curious. My schedule requires me to get up at 5:30 in the morning each day, but unfortunately I go to bed around midnight. That gives me only an average of 5-6 hours of sleep each night, thus making me feel really uneasy the whole day during school (as I have an early morning class in my high school.) Though if it's a weekend, I try to put in about 8-9 hours and that difference really makes me feel good waking up early and getting a good night sleep.

(I have noticed that there is an "insomniac club" here at the forums, so I assume some people like to stay up pretty late as well. )

Your body generally needs around 8 hours sleep each day. I get that, plus more since I am on holidays ;) Normally hit the sack around midnight and get up around 10-11 am  It's a great life!

I take a nap at around 3am, and wake up around 7~8am. 4~5 hours of nap is enough for me ;)

When I'm doing work all night I wouldn't sleep at all.

I have a pretty messed up schedule. I've been waking up at like 1:00pm and going to sleep at like 5:00am. I'm a night person.

I go to bed at either 11:00, 10:30, or 10:00 PM depending on what time my classes start the next morning (10:00. 9:30, and 9:00, respectively). That way I always get at least 9 hours of sleep. Of course that is the ideal. On Mondays I have officer meetings for my campus Christian group, which usually run a little late, meaning I lose up to 30 minutes of sleep. On Wednesdays I have Bible study at 10:00 PM, which means that I lose about an hour of sleep. On Weekends I am usually doing something late in the evening, so I don't get to sleep on Friday or Saturday until 12:00 AM-3:00 AM. Unlike most people I also don't sleep in on Saturdays. I feel that free days are too precious to be wasted by laying around in a coma  .

If I don't get enough sleep, I really notice it during the day. I have less energy, am more irritable, and generally less able to do anything productive.

I have the most energy in the afternoons (more specifically from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM), so that is when I do almost all of my work.

I am not like most of my generation, in that I generally get to bed early (10:00 to 11:00) and wake up early (5:30, or 7:00 on weekends). Generally I try to get all the sleep that I need to function fully, which is generally about seven hours. On occasion I've been known to go 48 hours without sleep (though I'm completely out the next night).

Our family has a strict policy of I don't care when you go to bed but you have to be up by 9 a.m. On weekdays, I may turn in around 10:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m (usually so I can watch Futurama, Faily Guy, and possily the Venture Bros).. I have a 10 o clock class but my friend picks me up at 8:50 cause he as a 9:30 class so I have to wake up a bit earlier.

On weekdays, I stay up anywhere from 12:oo a.m. till 3 ish maybe. I still have to wake up at 9 though. On Saturdays,

I don't get as much as I probobly should. I have had to get up at 8:00 am all semester and I haven't been going to bed until like 11:00 or 12:00. What stinks is that now my body will wake up between 8:00 and 9:00 am even when I don't have to.

Hmm, 7 hours on good nights. Meaning nights of weeks when I don't have a test, which isn't very often.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Sleep? I don't get much of that...
Usually I get to bed around 1:30am and wake up around 6:45am to get to my 8am class.
Now, if I have work that last night, I usually don't get off until 1-1:30 am. Meaning I wont get much sleep. I have to unload the trucks and stalk the shelves of Bestbuy. Though sometimes we get done around 12am. It really depends on the truck size.

Though, I usually catch up on my sleep during the weekends-- waking up around 11am-12pm. So I probably average about 6hrs a night.

meh, being an architecture major requires me to pull afrequent all-nighters to get projects done, which i don't like at all. prior to college i was an 8 hours a night person, now the most i get, unless it is the weekend and i have nothing going on, is about 6-7 hours. while my body is slowly aclimating to less sleep, the incredibly boring speakers in my architecture lecture class have been known to get me dozing within the first five minutes of class. and the all-nighters are not fun, especially the one i had right before homecoming, when i had to wake up even earlier for marching band, and do practice, a parade, a game day, and another performance afterward, all after getting only 5 hours of sleep within the previous few days, and i ended up falling asleep for like two seconds during the parade and missing a step off, but waking up in time to catch up... lol

i go to bed around 00:30 AM, sometimes later. If i am in bed sooner, i have to read etc. until it's 00:30 and only then i can sleep ^____^;;; If i have to go to school at morning, i wake up at 06:15, and if i don't i get up usually after 10:00.

I think that's enough sleep for me, usually i don't feel tired at school or so.

I generally get plenty of sleep. My wife hates it when we don’t go to bed at the same time, especially if we are in the same house. I go along with it most of the time, hell hath no fury like an angry wife… Especially when you sleep next to them, more then once I have gotten a taste of the ‘revenge by cold feet on your back’ technique.

So, yah, I probably go to sleep around 9 or 10pm and wake around 6-6:30 am.
Weekends are about the same, minus the work, plus the video games. ^_^

That sure beats the 1am-6am shift I was sleeping before I was married… :coffee:
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Generally, I go to bed about midnight with the alarm going off at 6:33 or so. On occaision, I'll go to bed around 4, like if I have a book to read, or the Internet is finally working again.

If I could, I would stay up until midnight and sleep until 8am. I don't get to do that much anymore. Now I get up at 6am for work, so I have to be in bed between 10 and 11pm to remain functioning and productive. Bleh.
