I need backup prayers!

Postby Mangafanatic » Sat Dec 04, 2004 9:44 am

Some of you may rememeber that I posted a prayer thread for my very precious 19 year old male cousin. About a year ago, he got involved in drugs, alcohol, and just about anything else you pray the people you love never get entangled in. This behavior was, of course, his choice, but it was spurred by several very bad friendships he had-- one in particular.

Well, he moved down to where I live and away from all these terrible people he knew. During the time he was here with me and my other teenage cousin, he dried up, came to our church, and, overall, behaved wonderfull. And then, after literally breaking his back (he did make a full recovery), he decided to move home. And you probably know where this is going.

Well, his parents agreed that he could move home so long as he wouldn't associate with this particularly evil friend of his, who we will refer to as Trouble for the sake of ease.

His parents were out of town when he drove home, so he arranged to stay with his sister who's a very Godly newly wed. When he was about forty-five minutes away from her house, he called and said when he'd be there. Two hours later, he hadn't showed up. So, as every good young husband should, her hubby got in his car and went in search of the prodigal son.

He pretty much knew where to look. There my cousin was, at Trouble's house. So he got himself kicked out of his parent's house before he even moved in. Now, he's moved in with Trouble.

I could scream, I really could. I'm really hurt by his decision. What's worse, is that he said that God closed all his doors here and that's why he was moving. Considering the choices he's already made, I have reason to believe that wasn't the case at all. As much as I love him, I know he's a daredevil and he'll do anything to be accepted. And I'm afraid he'll drink himself into oblivion. Literally, I fear for his life.

Please pray for Adam. I can't stand to see him get hurt. Pray that God wil break him. I really think that's all that's going to diswade him, and I give him over to God. To whatever's necessary. Even if it hurts. *sigh* It seems pain is the only way Adam knows how to learn.

Thank you all for reading this post. I'm sorry for it's length and I love you all for being here to take this burden that I can't share with anyone but my parents and one cousin (the family doesn't want anyone to know, so this has to be a silent burden. . I appreciate you all so much.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Well, I know the name of the guy he's living with. I'm considering writting a letter to him, because I'm not sure the house has a phone line. (I think the guy lives on his cell phone) That's about the only means I have of contacting him.

*sigh* Despite how good God is too us, some people can't seem to accept anything good in their life. I have a friend with a problem very like this and it's tearing her up. I'll pray for you.

I've never been in quite the ituation you're in, but I imagine it's hard. I wish I could offer up some sage advice, but all I can say at the moment is that I'll be praying hard for your cousin.

He's had plenty of sage advice. You're giving him what he needs more. Prayer. Thanks, Kokoro.

*sigh* This world is so messed up. It's easy to call it the domain of Satan.

Anyway, I'll be praying for him :)

Osaka, I will definitely pray for him. *hug*

I have to agree with Doubleshadow, sometimes people can't accept anything good in their lives. My sister and brother are these perfect examples: No matter what, my sister has never been able to straighten up, having her own Trouble in her life (drugs, alcohol and multiple other sins); whereas, my brother who truly knows the Lord has been through great adversity (multiple sins and drugs) and stands firm in his faith and continues to grow closer to the Lord. Why one falls and the other seems to make it is beyond our understanding. I only know God is always in control and knows you are handling it the best way possible - through prayer.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Okay. Update time. *dons depressed face, seeing as it's the only adequate to set the stage*

Okay, well, he's totally broke. He'd driving an uninsured car. Trouble and he aren't getting along at all (But in my opinion that's not such an aweful thing. I'd be tickled pink if they'd just hate eachother). We just found out that he's maxed out a credit card-- that five hundred dollars that he doesn't have a dime of. Worse still is the fact that he maxed them out when he was still here and we don't know what on.

Just pray for him, please. I really appreciate it. Pray that Trouble will kick him out and that he'll have to go crawling back to his parents. And pray that his parents will take him back. The last thing I need is for him to be desperate on top of reckless.

God is in charge here. But if it's his will to straighten this out quickly you won't see me complaining.
