A new email scam; a warning and a prayer.

Watch out for any emails that say 'Hi!' in the topic title, from random feminem named email addresses. They will tell you where they are from, and say they are looking for new friends. I got one the other day, and I looked at it. At first, I thought it could sincerly be someone looking for a friend, so I clicked the link. It came up as unavaliable, but then I realized that the email was far too formal to be a casual friendship letter. A few days ago I got a confirmation email about 175$ on Paypal being transferred to an account. I just received another, though I haven't click the links anymore. Pray that this doesn't have a major impact - my mom has paypal, but it has no link to my email, nor do I have any link to it. I do not have a paypal account, though I had considered starting one.

Did you check if the confirmation emails you received were really from Paypal? Because I don't think it's likely that simply clicking on a link would immediately transfer money, considering all the security procedures online payment services go through. But then what would be the point of the whole scam, I wonder. :shady:

I still get those emails too, but they usually find themselves floating in cyberspace oblivion a second later.

That's why I never open email from people I don't know; including the ones sent from ebay. Also, another reason I don't give paypal or ebay my bank account numbers. They have a history of taking money out of peoples account w/o consent. Paypal has been sued for it. That's why now when you subscribe to paypal they make you accept the agreement that you cannot sue them for less than $50,000 or 100,000 (can't remember) of lost/stolen money. When ordering online i use my credit card, that way i can dispute any false charges. It's much harder to dispute charages made when they are taken from your bank account. None the less I hope it was all just a hoax; I will pray.

Never good. I hope it works out, and I'll pray.
