Cricket... the ins and outs of the game!!!

Okay theres two teams, one team is in and the other team is out. The team that is out try's to get the team thats in out. Once all the team that is in is out the team that is out goes in and the team that was previously in goes out. Then the team thats out tries to get the team thats in out. Once all the team members of the team that is in is out, then the first team that was in goes in again and the team that was in but now is out, goes out again and they repeat the process..... This can go on for days.

Do you guys get it now? It is so easy!!!

And now that summers coming, in the southern hemisphere that is, theres should be some great matchs coming up.

I love the One-Dayers, they're quick and you see heaps of cool catchs and near misses. Its gonna be a good season.

The in and outs of cricket. Umm... I think I get it. Is it a lot like baseball? If not, then I'm lost :P

Two things:

1.My state (Virginia) happens to be a commonwealth :P .

2.Thanks for explaining Cricket :thumb: .

Other than that, I have a few questions:

1.How does scoring work in Cricket?

2.What is the object of the game?

3.How many people are on an average team?

4.How big is the ball used for Cricket?

5.How does a player get out?

Oh gee. I wasn't expecting such indepth questions. but thanks for asking.

Okay, theres 11 players on the field (but theres a 12th man in every team)
Two players go out to bat, and then they hit the cricket ball (about the size of a tennis ball.. abit bigger and pretty heavy) and then they run between the wickets (which are 3 sticks in the ground on either end of a rectangle dirt patch basically) when both players make it to the other end thats one 'run', if they hit the ball to the edge of the playing field thats four runs and if they hit it into the crowd thats 6 runs.

To get out, the bowler (pitcher) has to hit the wicket with the ball (the guy with the bat trys to protect those sticks in the ground) and if he hits the ball into the air and is caught by the oppostion. Theres a few other ways to get out like if the batters are running between the wickets and the other team hits the wickets (sticks inground) before they make it and is the batters leg gets infront of the wicket and stops the ball from hitting the wickets... only your bats allowd to touch the ball.

The score board will look like this Australia: 3/200, which is read like, australia has lost 3 players and has made 200 runs so far.
The better average pretty much wins, but usually its pretty obvious like one team will be all out for 300 and the other team will be all out for 500 or something.

And the objective of the game is to watch guys using this heavy logs to hit a ball really far and watch amazing catches, kinda like baseball.. but BETTER :)

Hope that helps.

Probably out for a Duck! (no runs scored and out).

Yeah, I kinda thought id explain it in a away which explains the game, but doesn't make sense, hence the 'ins and outs of the game' cause theres so many ins and outs you can get lost in them :)
