Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix.....

It's no longer a rumor...

You know, one of the main reasons why I was drawn into Final Fantasy was the awesome soundtrack found in many of the games.....

I recall his music from the beginning of FF8. Can I spell it? No, but I'll try.

Wow..... that is disturbing news. He's gonna be missed quite a bit as the Final Fantasy series continues on. Hopefully the new composer will be just as good, but he will still be missed.

This would be sad if I still played Final Fantasy games. :P

I'm with the X-Play crew: they're good games, but the amount of reverence and fanboy madness surrounding these games is both undeserved and annoying.

He was such a good composer. Why did he have to go!!!! It is so bad, horrible!

That's sad. I got introduced to the FF games through the music, and, though I've never been a gamer, I loved the art and music. Now...I guess it's just the art. -_-

At least he's still composing, even if it's not for Square.

I might could understand ffx-2, but what was wrong with the music in the first ffx? :?:

X-2 wasnt even composed by Nobuo Uematsu, it was composed by Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi, which is why it seems so much worse than the previous installments.

Anyways, Square-Enix will miss Nobuo big time, the guy wasnt compared by Times magazine to John Williams for nothing. Its a shame, but Final Fantasy has been snow-balling lately anyways.

It is a large loss for Square-Enix, but it doesn't necessarily mean that he won't ever compose anything for them again.

Many of the other good composers like Yasunori Mitsuda and Hitoshi Sakimoto are freelance now anyway.

How very sad - I adore FF music. And Gremio is correct: FFX-2 wasn't done by Nobuo Uematsu. I'm not sure about FF XI, but I bet it's not hard to look up. I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear of Uematsu's work, because he writes excellent scores for anime as well. It's just too bad that all the future FF games will probably be lacking that special something.

There goes all the talent Square had officially now gone forever. It's sad to see a once upon a time gaming giant now just be a shell of its' former self. And with Yasonori Mitsuda a full-time freelance composer, I doubt he will ever return to Square --which is just one of the reasons needed to know that we'll never see a another Chrono game in our lifetime.

What does whether or not Mitsuda works for Square have to do with any more Chrono games? He was the composer, not the creator.

Although, when it comes right down to it, the actual creator of the Chrono series no longer works for Square-Enix either.

I think Uematsu only did a few for FFXI and only one for FFXII.

My friend and I have this theory that the downfall of Square officially began when they merged with Enix.

Hey wait guys, he's still going to compose music... just not for FF anymore. This is in some ways a good thing. Now we will see him doing more tours and stuff. Tours in America anyone? Now he has enough time to make his name big and maybe even visit all 51 states. Even then, he'll be able to go to europe now and even New Zealand.

FF will probably not be the same. But I think the next composer will do a decent job.

Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka were the two that worked with Nobuo on the FFXI soundtrack which is actually rather well done. There were rumors that those two were going to be taking over Nobuo Uematsu's job here not to long ago, guess it may be true.

You don't play the games just because of that? How superficial.

The series has always been excellent, but Nobuo's departure may drop it down a couple of points. But, let's not automatically judge whoever will fill his shoes till we actually hear his/her work for ourselves.
