My Very Own Space Cat!

Postby CreatureArt » Wed Nov 10, 2004 1:04 am

Here are some pictures and the story of my very own Space Cat. Skip past the text if you can't be bothered reading - I've attached some photos of my poor feline.

All right, seriously, I love my little cat. I call her Garf, and she's very affectionate. Problem is, she gets in a lot of fights. You probably can't see on the pictures, but the iris of her right eye bulges out a bit and looks strange because she managed to (we think) get another cat's claw in there. Owch. She had an operation and was fine (though my Dad fumed a bit about the operation costing more than the cat. Not that it's hard for ANYTHING to cost more than the cat... we found her and her two brothers on the side of the road  ).

We're pretty sure there's some sort of beastie (probably a wildcat - we don't really have large predators in NZ) on the loose around here. Evidenced by the fact one of our OTHER cats came home with a bite taken out of him (not tooo large. 'bout the size of a NZ 20cent coin). So, of course, with Garf being a bit of a scrapper, she was bound to have a tangle sooner or later...

...yep. She came home, and we didn't notice for a while that she had an abcess on her foot and a missing claw. (Got her to the vet pretty promptly, though and she was fine). So they fixed her up and she came home a day later smelling of that vet disinfectant. This proud, scrapping cat slinked out of her box with a cast.... and a space helmet. (Cone). I do feel sorry for her - but I couldn't help laughing, she looks such a sight. She tried to walk around corners but ended up stuck against a wall because she got confused by the cone. Then she just sat there, unable to go any further forward because the rim of the cone was against the wall, tail twitching - until I picked her up and put her somewhere clear. And watched as she did the same thing another couple of times. At least she's a lot more co-ordinated now, and will be able to get the thing off soon - when the stitches come off her leg.

Didn't think to take a photo while she still had the cast on, but I hope you enjoy the little story and the photos especially.

Remember, Garf learned her lesson not to scrap with Wildcats. Did you? ;)

Aw poor Garf....*chuckles at pictures*

I have a cat that picked a couple fights too. Luckily nothing that serious/expensive though.

Hope Garf is more down to earth now.

Oh that is the funniest! ^_^ *hugs poor kitty*
Has Garf got her giant space-cone thingy off yet?
I hope I never have to wear something like that. @_@
*writes a mental note* Don't scrap with wildcats...don't scrap with wildcats... *scribbles* Okay. Got that!
It looks like one of those funny Renaissance portraits...o_O

I also like the kitty in your avatar and siggy. So cuuuute! ^^

I agree. ^^ I was just about to say the same thing. You stole the words out of my mouth! Or the clacking out of my keyboard...or...oh, never mind.

Thanks Anonymous, Fireproof, Esoteric and Madeline!

* Yeah - Garf's a cute little kitty. ^_^.
* Thanks, Fireproof! - living around so many cats means that I draw too many of the things. ;).
* Thanks, Esoteric - yep, she's a bit more down to earth now... since she's not allowed outside at night until she gets the cone off
* Thanks Madeline - nope, she hasn't got her space helmet off yet, heh. I hope you don't have to ever wear something like that, too! Like a funny Renaissance portrait? Cool! Thanks again! And thank you for the compliment on my avatar, too. I've created a few animal based cartoon characters during class, so I figured I might as well spruce up my avatar and siggy with them ;). Lol - I like that: 'the clacking out of your keyboard' *laughs*.

Thank you all! Glad you enjoyed the photos!

Dude. You're posting on the first page. If you're that lazy, I'm not sure how useful it would be for CreatureArt to write it again. ;)

Lol - you're right, Termyt. But I'll forgive your laziness, ssj2 - since I am often very lazy myself. ;)

Garf's got the cone on so she doesn't eat out the stiches on her leg.

Hmm.... at the moment she's trying to duck under a chair... but the cones in her way. Heh heh heh heh heh. I know I shouldn't laugh at her so much... I do feel sorry for her but she's just so funny! Especially when she hits walls and just sits there, lashing her tail and looking confused.

*Phew* At least I'm not the only one who laughs at my cat when it's wearing a cone. You made me feel a little less guilty

Yeah, Garf is cute - you can all say it as many times as you want, I'm sure she won't mind ;).

THATS SOOOOO FUNNY! I see u are new, i was scared that I had overlooked a very funny Southern Hemispherean and very important part of the CAA society. I think he's lucky...my cat never get's to wear anything that expensive...(I'm cheap)

ROFL - lol, I wasn't saying it was expensive!!! Hmm.... perhaps $12, max for the cone ;) . Heh heh - thank you, though. Yeah, I just put those photos up for a laugh. When you have a humiliated cat you should share her with the world (or at least over the net)...

No problem with shortening it, SSJ2Gohan61 - I do waaaay too many large posts. I encourage all people to help me to learn the amazing skill of summarization.

There was one time my cat came with the pad of one paw hanging on by a thread..
It was pretty funny though, they put a pink cast on his leg, and he hated it. He would take two steps and shake his leg.

ROFL - that's exactaly what my cat was doing when she first came home with both the cast and the cone! She took a step, shook her leg up and down, shook her head... and ran into a wall

Will remember not to pick up the skill of laziness as cautioned by ssj2gohan61 ;)

*huggles Momus's cat also, then huggles the ex-space cat on her lap*

Yep - that's right - the space helmet is officially off Garf because she's got her stiches out and it's so awesome to see she's healed so nicely.

Glad you all enjoyed the pictures, though. they'll always be there to remind us all of Garf's former humiliation. :). I love the cat
