It is always vaguely humorous to see models and the like without their real preparation. Our culture is so preocupated with looks...

I knew they looked like that under the epidermis of make-up. Anyone can look perfect with the proper things applied to their faces (not to mention all that air-brushing they do to photos). It's just unfortuneate that we feel it's necessary.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hah! That certainly makes me feel better. I'm still fighting to lovingly accept my face and weight (I know I shouldn't but it's a huge struggle to love the way you look yourself when you use Hollywood as a gauge). Thanks Volt!

This sort of reminds me of the show The Swan.

The before pictures are ALWAYS shown without the person not wearing any make-up and holding a miserable face. Then they get botex etc. etc. and look sort of the same, but with their hair professionaly fixed up and tons of make-up added...

Ok, so maybe some people on the show needed a bit of corrective surgery (burn marks from a fire), and so forth. But still. These people dwell on their ugliness from when they were being picked on at school! Most of these people are already married with kids and still "want to feel better about themselves". "I GOT MY NEW NOSE!" Big deal! It didn't look bad in the first place and big glasses made them appear bigger...

All and all, it's most likely the influence of Hollywood and it's models that would make these women so depressed...

I already knew Britney was unattractive. Bleh...I utterly despise her inside...which is wrong, but I can't help it.

I've never been a fan of Mandy Moore, however, it does seem like everything about her is still real.

What gets me is how people always try to look like the stars they love. Everyone knows that all the pictures that are in magazines are edited (face, hips, weight etc..). I know that many girls/women want to always look/be beautiful or the ideal they see on tv. But remember, no one is perfect. Never try to be someone your not, it will never make you happy. Real beauty is what we have inside: heart, spirit and soul. That's the true beauty of a person. And honestly, that's all that matters, period.

I think I'd like to print out your post agasfas, but alas, my printer doesn't work. I totally agree with you. It's very sad when girls try to look like the female stars they love so much...I'm very glad I have like very few female stars.

The ironic thing is that the massive amounts of makeup likely contribute to the lack of make-up-less beauty .... putting that much gunk on your skin is not in any way good for it. lol of course my major problem with britney and christina and their ilk is their lack of modesty. I feel sorry for people like them who obviously cannot find their closets or afford clothing that covers them ... and all the teens who think they too should forsake clothing as a means of covering oneself due to the influence of such stars. Whatever happened to modesty?

Oh, where's the Mandy pic!?

Actually, I thin Jennifer Garner looked cute without her makeup.

Someone I think looks fine without makeup is Charlize Theron. I think she's is very attractive. She always reminds me of one of my sisters, Sharla.

Ditto. I think that she's one of those blessed people who are able to look pretty no matter what they wear.

Apparently, from what I've seen and read, Jennifer Garner was a total geek and outcast in high school.

Actaully, I think alot of them look very pretty without make-up. In a more natural way - which I like.

To me, beauty is only skin deep. Its what is inside the person that counts as beauty.

I think you're right - remember that the entire point of those pictures was to show the extreme contrast, meaning there could be a number of attractive make-upless and un-enhanced photos of them that still looked nice. Some of those "ugly" pictures probably aren't accurate either. All of us should know how sometimes photos just come out horribly. No, they don't look like their supermodel versions, but I bet most of them don't look quite like the bad pictures, either. They probably look normal and average, just like most of us. (Also bear in mind that some, like Whitney, are not sickly looking in their natural form, we're probably seeing the result of substance abuse or extreme fatigue. I know that a lot of stars work very hard and long, and I don't know about the rest of you, but stress and lack of sleep don't do much for my completion. ]really[/i] think about what they looked like. I was a little shocked when I realized that one lady had bug eyes and big teeth, another was plump, and another had acne problems. When I told Mom this, she just smiled and said that I saw their inside beauty, and that made them beautiful on the outside to me. Because they had beautiful spirits, you couldn't help but look past the skin. Mom told me that I wouldn't have to worry about my outside as long as my inside was pure and good.

Ever since that day, I've tried my best to see people for who they really are, and not what they simply look like. I honestly admit that I can't always immediately dismiss the shallow mindset of looking skin deep, but that's usually when I get a little nudge in my spirit by the Spirit that if I don't want to be measured by my appearance then I cannot judge others by theirs.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make that so long. Good topic, Volt.

The people you love, the kindest people you know; these are the people that should be the most beautiful in our eyes, inside and out. I never really looked at Hollywood or liked hyped celebrities that much, and I think that played a major role in my accepting how I and other regular people look. To me, regular people are the prettier and more awe inspiring than the stars - they don't have plastic in their faces or inches of chemicals ontop of their skin.

You shouldn't look at yourself or others based on what our society's image of beauty is, but what God's image of beauty is.

wow. this is very encouraging...

to know that everyone else is as ugly as i am. that really brought my spirits up.

Seriously, though, what everyone here has said is right. In this respect, i am the black sheep of my family cause i always that there were better things to worry about that how i looked to a world that doesn't like me in the first place. My brothers though, feel differently about this and always make sure to look okay. My idea of dressing up is actually picking something other than a black shirt to wear.

Either way, good topic.

well...to me it seems thaty we need to pray for these people.

to find themselves and not their indentitys given to them by the "fatguys" =]

i dont know why but i just find my self prayin for people who live behind a mask...

funny though...i place the pics in the "ewww" folder

beauty illuminates and shines from the soul to the body. Just being happy with yourself changes the way you walk and speek, your gestures, and that right there makes you a more attractive fun loving person.

dude that is the most....thing i have ever read.... im going to put it in my info=]
