Final Fantasy Music

Postby MyrrhLynn » Tue Sep 16, 2003 12:39 pm

Hey everyone! Just thought I would share with you this cool Final Fantasy music site I found. You can listen to any song from all the soundtracks without having to deal with hassle or non-legalness of mp3s. ;) http://www.maverickvirus.com/finalflash/flash.html

Actually I use it when I am like "oh what is the name of that song..." and I play through them until I find it (and then I go and download it... oh did I just say that outloud???) :wow!:

But yeah I think they have almost every final fantasy song ever. And some others like Kingdom Hearts.

Ok! So I didn't actually get back to work right that second! *hangs head* Anyway, I just had to log back on to voice my disappointment in the FFX-2 soundtrack. I know they had a separate composer other than Nobuo Uematsu (which made me sad before I even heard the music) but there were some basic elements of FF music missing. Like, a FF game is just not a FF game without the "Prelude." And after every battle, you really want to hear that familiar nine-note victory sound off. And the chocobo music is always unmistakable.

But no, they felt the need to make FFX-2 all retro. Even the battle music. How ... nice of them.

Yes, it's quite good -- I was browsing the FFX selections myself. Nice job, whoever put it together!

Yeah he spent a whole lot of time making the Final Flash site. I can't believe that up until now he is the only one that has worked on it.

I totally agree! I've heard a handful of music from the FFX-2 soundtrack and was absolutely NOT impressed. I suppose it would make me sound a bit picky, but honestly, I find the tracks hardly bareable... if not downright annoying. It is most certainly not fantasy in any manner... as you mentioned above, the basic feel of continuity is missing. Just another reason that persuades me to keep far, far away.

On a happier note... I find that the soundtracks from FF Crystal Chronicles and FFXI seem to have some good tracks. Maybe that'll help ease your disappointment some?

Ooh, I haven't checked those ones out yet! I'm currently re-living all my hours poured into Kingdom Hearts by listening to the soundtrack. Thanks again for the link, MyrrhLynn!

That's a nice site. It has a great selection of music.

Hmmmmmm. FF XI has some pretty decent battle themes.

Yes it does. Much better than FFX-2's remix of disco fever. Yes, listening to the soundtrack to FF XI seemed like breath of fresh FF musical air.

Wow! I am glad you all like the site so much. And actually I am a big J-pop fan so I find some of the tracks on FFX-2 to be great. Although I think I am going to drive my friends crazy since I keep listening to that first song in Kingdom Hearts (with the singing I can't remember the name though) over, and over, and over again. :)

I hear ya. I just listened to some of the FF X-2 tracks and I ask myself why? I mean the music is bearable, kinda and it doesn't hold a candle to the true FFs tracks. They massacred the Chocobo theme. It's time to go breath some "fresh FF musical air" and listen to Terra's theme.

Wow thats awsome! I cant believe I spent a year and a half downloading all the soundtracks in mp3 from p2p's! *smacks head*

Oh and MyrrhLynn the song you are talking about is Hikaru Utada singing Simple and Clean. Actualy the regular version of that song (not the planet B remix found in the game) isnt so bad either. Then again I love anything J-pop.

Thanks a bunch MyrrhLynn! *bookmarks site*
