Neurological Disorder

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Mon Nov 01, 2004 7:04 pm

i was a bit hesitant to post this, but i figured why not. I have tourettes syndrome, which is a ticcing disorder. Commenly associated with obsessive compulsive disorder, which i have "traces" of you could say. And it really bothers me, although i stay strong with it, it can get frustrating at times. I know God gave me this for a reason, to rely on God more and to use my disadvantages and work it through for advantages for God. So please pray for me that thigns work out fine.

Tics are basically neurolocigal occurances where somebody has the impulse to say or do things. Physcially and verbally. such as makign a jerking movement, or repeating a phrase, it can be from mild to severe. And tourettes is NOT where somebody screams out random swear words, that is a steryotype.

I will pray. God will use it. He uses so many things.

You do? Wow. I have the same thing, to be honest. It's never bothered me. I only twitch a little bit in my arm or leg, though there have been times when there have been slightly more wide-spread ones. It only happens when I'm not fully aware, or half-asleep but still knowing whats going on. That occurs in Math Class XD. Anyway, I'll pray. The worst part of it for me is the random headaches and dizziness.

Sorry to hear about that man. I pray that God will help you cope with all of this. On of my best friends has the same thing. He's been in a couple seizures and convolutions. I pray everything works out man.

Thatnks for the info. I can only imagine the frustration you must feel at times. You seem to have a good attitude about it, I'll pary God uses that to His advantage. Keep fighting, the pains of this world are temporary.

I know a LOT about Tourette Syndrome, and those who know me here will attest to why. And, tics are common in other disorders, to have Tourettes you need to have both vocal and physical tics. There is a fantastic book about TS called, "Children with Tourette Syndrome; A Parent's Guide" by Tracy Haerle (edited)

You have a great attitude about your TS, Mr. Smartypants.

Thank you so much for pointing that out. The copralalia only affects around 25-30% of people with TS.

PM me if you ever want to talk about it. I will definitely be praying for you and others here with TS and OCD. ^_____________^

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Yes~ I know how that feels >_<
It's okay~ don't be shy or feel hesitant about it~
I think if you put your mind to it~ and continue to rely
and pray to God as you are now~ I think one day
it will be cured~ one of my friends was cured~ so
I believe yours may too^^ I'll pray~Don't give up~!^^

Life can be so tough. Sometimes tears are the only remedy for me. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, talking with someone usually helps^^ So if there is someone who is having a hard time coping with life, please don't hesitate to tell someone~
Always remember, there is God who loves you and there is at least one other person as well~

Come to think of it, a friend of mine has eye tics. It might be mild TS. I myself am epileptic, so I know that neurological disorders can be really complicated and strange things. I'll certainly pray for you, brother.

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close
