My Tyranid force consists of:

1 Tyranid Warrior
1 Biovore
3 Spore Mines....

and Glitch thought his was small ;)

I worked out once, using the mutable genus how you can have 92 Venom Cannon shots in one turn, using EVERY slot in the Force Organisation chart.

That’s what I like about playing a Beil-Tan Army. The rules make just about every elite unit count as troops instead. So I could have 6 units of Striking Scorpions or Reapers! While Im not forced to waste points on those lousy Guardians. Mwahahaha.

I have never played against an Imperial Guard army, but I would love to go Toe to Toe with an army of Tanks!!! WOOT!

As far as my Eldar’s Record goes, I counted Enemy Armies killed. I have played 4-for-all games and won, and I counted it as defeating 3 Opponents. But really I didn’t start counting until I had realized I was winning a lot. So I only have about 36 recorded wins, that’s why its approximate.
But the defeats are both correct. Its hard to forget games like those. O_o

Also, most of my games were with two of my friends. One of them just couldn’t beat me, not once. He had a Dark Eldar Army with just about anything Cool you could buy for them. He had maxed out his Org chart and we staged HUGE battles, but I still came out on top. Surprisingly, he still likes to play with me…

glitch1501 wrote: these battleforces are $100, they include alot, i just dont know if i can spend that much on this stuff at one time

 Yeah, I still remember when one of my friends was showing me his Minis for the first time. I said something like this, “You spent how much on theses little plastic things!?â€

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

As I've mentioned before, none of my own personal figs are painted/was painted by me. If I did paint, I'd probably do the traditional colors of the Aspect Warriors and green/white (Biel-tan color) for the guardians, farseers, falcon, etc.

Glitch: I don't have that much experience with Ebay, but one of my friends bought 200 dollars worth of unopened Skavens (for WHFB, worth about 300 retail), and he got exactly what he ordered. As long as they supply pictures of the boxes of things your going to buy, and make sure the positive feedbacks are 1: numerous, 2: not done by his friend/people with no sells.

The only army I don't like to face is against my friend's Blood Angels (ironic, it was my army). It's almost impossible to beat him with my Biel-Tan. Cadians are easy to beat if your luck holds out and you defeat their tanks, other wise I find no real problems unless mission parameters are inhibiting or if the enemy rushes up real fast with special weapon squads and stormtroopers.

Eldar:
All my aspect warriors are painted virtually like you see in the codex, with the exeption of my Howling banshee’s (I only have 2).
The rest of my army wears Black Red and White in various patterns

Space Wolves:
Traditional Space Wolves Gray and Yellow Shoulder Plates

Gothic: Chaos Fleet
Black and Blue Baby!
I don’t really like Chaos, but their ships rule, so I tried to paint them in more of a ‘nice and cool’ pattern then the ‘bloody Chaos’ scheme most people expect.

Warhammer 40k...there is no other game that I have tried to get into more times, without experiencing a single success.

This past summer I started collecting a Tau army, with the understanding that my friends would be getting armies as well. Unfortunately I was the only one that actually followed through, so now I have a bunch of figures and no one to fight (thankfully I didn't buy my whole army, just part of it). The moral of the story: if you are the most responsible person you know, don't trust anyone. Ever.

I have the units picked out for a 2,000 point Tau army, although it remains to be seen whether I will ever buy it. The project is on hold indefinitely until I can find other players. You would think that it wouldn't be hard at a college of 20,000 students, but you would be wrong. There isn't even a single club (in fact I was going to found the very first one, until it became apparent that I wasn't going to play) that I could go to in order to find players :mutter: .

Anyway, here is what I have at the moment for my Tau army:

HQ:
1 Ethereal

Troops:
20 Fire Warriors (2 Squads)

Heavy Support:
1 Hammerhead Tank

I decided not to use GW paint for my models, since it is outrageously expensive, even when compared to the best acrylic art paint (which is what I used instead). My basic color scheme is cosmos blue (closest GW equivalent midnight blue), and the secondary color is steel blue (a grayish blue color with a hint of green). For the details, I used red, green, black, and white.

I also have the new 4th edition rule book, which is currently sitting unread on my bookshelf. Hopefully one day it will get some use...

lol, thanks for your advice, BA was my first army, so I have been keeping tabs on them. I know exactly what they can do and what I can do and,IMO the Biel Tan is just too weak to face against them (normally). Now I have to say that this guy is a really good player. It's not like tricking a newb to do what I want. We play with regular amounts of terrain and none tailored army lists. I'll post the battle report here when I get around to face him. It just seems like you have to tailor an army just to kill SMs

Biel Tan 1500 (tailored army)

Farseer: jetbike, runes of witnessing, singing spear, mind war 108

3 dark reapers, 1 exarch, fast shot 186

3 dark reapers, 1 exarch, fast shot 186

7 howling banshees, 1 exarch, executioner 149

wave serpent w/twin linked star cannons 125

falcon w/star cannon, crystal targeting matrix 185

wraithlord w/starcannon 120

wraithlord w/starcannon 120

squad 1
vyper w/starcannon 65

vyper w/starcannon 65

squad 2
vyper w/starcannon 65

vyper w/starcannon 65

squad 3
vyper w/starcannon 65

1504

That's what I'll try against him for a Cleanse mission.

Edit: I'm just gonna let this play out. And I didn't have Craftworld Eldar when I made this...tell me if there is anything wrong with force organization.

For the tournament style/fluff army but with a competitive edge, remove 1 WL and 2 Vypers, add 1 wave serpent w/twin-linked star cannons, and 5 firedragons+1 exarch w/fire pike.

SanGoku, if you're playing against Blood Angels, forget the Farseer on jetbike. Keep him on foot and near the Reapers to cast Guide on them.

Lose a vyper or two and pump up your Reaper squads to size 5.

Using my Eldar, I have NEVER lost to Blood Angels, the most casualties I ever had was around 6... Most of my units were 100% intact. Blood Angels are pansies....

Those are awesome! Especially the Ork banner.

It'll be around December before I get to actually "play" warhammer again, since I moved out of state. In the mean time, I'm just gonna have to be content with digging through background material to the game.

Sangoku,

That is an impressive Eldar Force. But it looks more like a Siam Han (or however you spell that) Army. You know, the Red guys who are into speed. They are mostly made up of Tanks, jet bikes, and Vipers. Biel Tan, on the other hand, are made up primarily of Aspect warriors. That army list you posted has got to be over 2000pts. Those are some seriously expensive units, and lots of them.

I would recommend picking either an entirely fast army (like the vipers, tanks, and jetbikes), or an entirely tough army (like the Wraith Lords, and reapers). It’s as though your army is split in half, some can move fast, while others are forced to ‘bunker in’ and react, rather then act.

If you had an entirely fast army, you might be able to run circles around the BA’s, while laying down a heavy volley from your starcannons. The ‘crystal targeting matrix’ will allow your units to stay in cover while shooting (by moving, shooting, then finishing your move). Though, you will probably want a couple Bright Lances, unless you want to rely on your Falcons Pulse Laser to take down any armor they have. (Tanks, Dreadnauts, ect)

Just remember, be flexible. Like chess, it’s ok to lose your own units, as long as you take down ATLEAST the equivalent (play value) of your opponents in the process. If you opponent has a favorite unit or model that they rely on a lot, don’t be afraid to put the pressure on that one. Go out of your way to kill the thing. Your opponent will think twice before sticking his neck out to get it into battle.
Also, Eldar are NOT tough, play conservatively and above all, have tons of fun!

BTW, great paint job Skynes! :thumb:

I wonder if we can work out a way to play on-line… Hmmm

It is definitely possible. The biggest problem is finding a way to generate die rolls that is random, and that can be seen by everyone (sorry, the honor system doesn't work for this sort of thing). For that, you might be able to use an online dice program like the one found here:

http://www.eposic.org/rpg/tnt/animdice.html

For non-d6 rolls, this will work: http://www.arcess.com/clockdice3.cfm

This one is a little more versatile and sophisticated:
http://www.random.org/nform.html

To represent the battlefield, you could create a grid of a certain size, allowing you to place terrain and units.

Each person could post their moves, rolls, etc. for a turn, continuing on until the conclusion of the game.

I didn't think about this too much, but I'm sure with a little bit of work we could play online. This would also be beneficial to those who don't have full armies, since you can basically pick any units that you want to include in your army (unless someone wants to be picky and say that you can only use units that you actually own :P ).

that would be cool, its kind of like a simulation!

i dont think that you should have to own the units to play with them, itd be cool to use them online to see if you would want to buy them IRL

Thanks Kaji, I don't know if that'll be my solid list yet as I'll probably change that in the coming weeks. Unless I added something wrong, that is just a little over 1500 points, it just looks like alot, but it's not really. I just have a lot more vehicles than I should.

An online 40k game would be fun to have, though I'd imagine you'd have to make a program from scratch. I'd love to help but I know next to nothing on programming. There are some technical stuff that might popup later from the transition of the table top to the online game, but those are small and insignificant.

Another idea is through a storyline campaign like the Eye of Terror campaign that was done by GW. Except it'll be more organized with a GM involved with more detailed campaign map/battlefields and guidlines to make sure people don't go overboard on min/maxing their forces. Though it's possible that people might cheat and it would be very impersonal as we won't be fighting one another; just an idea as it would be something to do in the meantime.

Then again, there's always DoW, but that's very far from what the table top game is like.

I have not seen the new SM codex but I have heard lots of good things about it. The new traits will make individualizing chapters a lot better, and GW said they'll come out with newer traits as time goes along. Assault cannons being heavy 4 rendering will be a terrifying sight to see. One gripe I heard from a lot of people is that a lot of the minor marine chapters such as the Raven Guard and the White Scars traits don't fit with the backgrounds of those chapters. But over all, I am looking forward to getting the codex if not to play a marine army anytime soon, just for the background.

I want the new Eldar and Ork codexes, hopefully with better rules for the Avatar...

glitch: About nid units.

HQ - Hive tyrant! He's a beast. 3 Tyranid Warriors could work also, but really only as a temporary slot until you get a tyrant. Fast Attack, Raveners and Gargoyles. For Heavy Support it has to be a Carenifex!
I am the Reaper of Souls... and it's harvest time.

Yah, what Skynes said. Though a hive tyrant is much more effective in combat then the warriors. The warriors on the other hand allow you to spread your synaps around the field a little more.

Raveners are definately your choice for fast attack, but Genestealers also pack a good punch (though not fast attack). With Tyranids, its more about Quantity then about quality.

Carnefixes are awsome, and their bio weapons can be extremely powerful, but rarely worth trying to shoot with. I would recomend giving the tyranid artilery (for got the name) a try as well. Either way, you will eventualy want somthing that can consistantly take down heavy armor.

Lictors sound neat, but I have yet to see one take out its value is oponents troops.

About on line 40K.
I wasnt to worried about the die rolls, but the 3rd demension and determining cover is what concerns me the most. Well, those are the things that come up the most in my games. ^_^

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

once again. Jesus Christ, Light of the World, burning
bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love
without condition, without beginning or an end. Here's
my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

Don't forget the Zoanthropes as they're the only best anti-tank and anti-heavy infantry units you have. Though it is BS of a 3 to hit, the thing is to have 3 to maximize your odds. If they all shoot at one tank, odds are you have at least 1 destroyed tank per turn.

I agree with what Kaji said about your carnifex not having a ranged bio weapon. Give it 2 scything talons so it'll have 4 attacks would be the best course of action, but beware terminator squads, wraithlords and the likes. You do go at a initiative 1 and 2 at best, so you might find it getting killed before it has a change to go. And always give your Carnifex some Tyrant Guards or it'll get shot up. You'd be surprised how many AP 3/2 weapons you see against Tyranids.

The only thing I'd suggest is have lots of gaunts; hormagaunts and termagaunts making up the backbone of your force. True that they may not do much individually, but together they act as a very good psychological screen to your opponet (seeing a huge number of gaunts), act as support units to your big things (close combat resolution: outnumbering), and mutatable to have str 4, increased WS or BS, etc.

Edit: For Genestealers, I'd say do not depend on them to be the backbone, but as a supporting shock troop. They're too slow (move 6, assault 6 as opposed to move 6, d6 fleet of claw, assault 12 of a hormagaunt). Infiltrate them if at all possible for the mission, it'll get them into HTH quicker and at the very least, act as a psychological wall so your opponet avoids the area where the Stealers are at. (With the 4th edition rule, they may infiltrate within 12" of an enemy unit if they're out of line of sight, so that's pretty close for some people's comfort.)

Lictors: Have 2 or 3 if you want to take them, and have them work in cohesion with one another or with your main assault group. Toughness 4 is just too weak, even if they do have 3 wounds, it's hard to have a 5+ save unless you're really lucky (in HTH combat). Think about it this way, for 10 points more, you can take a Carnifex. But it does scare them to death though. Or have the Lictor attack their heavy weapon/bad HTH combat units.

Gargoyles: Not much experiences with them. Good fluff troop if you want to take it just for fun.

Ravener: Use they the same way you would use Genestealers, as a supporting shock troop. Keep the behind cover.

Hope that helps.
