NFL disappointments and surprises

Postby agasfas » Mon Oct 25, 2004 6:11 pm

I'm curious, is there a team that you thought was going to have a really good year but as of so far, not doing so hot or up to par? Also, I ask the same question in reverse. Is there a team that you thought was going to have a really bad season but to your surprise has been doing quite good? Just curious about your thoughts.

Jaguars. From what I've heard, they are doing really well and I am quite suprised. To me they are down there near the cardinals and the chargers. Also, I'm suprised Green Bay isn't doing so well this year...last year if I remember right they were fairly good.

And of course, I expected my Raiders to do a lot better under a new coach...but on the bright side, they are better than last year....well sort of anyway.

Don't count the Packers out yet Ash. I have a feeling they'll be around come playoff time.

As for the Jaguars, they are a huge surprise. All five of their wins came in the last minute (4 comeback victories, and 1 fumble by the Broncos on a running play to set up an easy game-winning field goal.)

The Lions and the Steelers are also a huge surprise to me.

As far as disappointments go, the Chiefs have to be the biggest in my book. Also to a lesser extent the Dolphins, although most people foresaw them crashing hard after the announcement of Ricky Williams' retirement.

There you go, my 2 cents.

First off the Big-D (Dallas) has let me down. I was expecting such a great season. But that just means more picks next year. Other teams that have not lived up to their potential are KC, Tampa and the Dolphines.
But now for the teams that have done a lot better than expected:
1) The Jets. 5-1 enough said.
2) Ny Giants
3) Jaguars
4) ANd of course the Lions.

But about the Packers. I see them coming back for play-off contention getting the wildcard. They started off rough, but are slowly coming back. The rest of my family are Packer fans (given they are from Wisconsin) and I'm the only cowboy fan. Too bad dallas couldn't have beaten them... :( So goes life. I'm just curious to see what will happen to all of these teams that are surprising everyone.

If the Chiefs are a disappointment, then Atlanta must be a really bad team then.

Tampa Bay is doing not very well, though not as bad as some other teams

the Patriots are doing great!!!!!! they own so much!

Well the chiefs are 2-4 and Atlanta is 5-2. It's kinda hard to put them in the same category (win-loss wise). Though I had a hunch that Atlanta was going to do pretty good this year.

Biggest let down...the Panthers. Lost like 11 starters from last year. Biggest shocker....hmm. Seattle Seahawks.

I feel that Atlanta could be alot better then they should. I feel that Atlanta will be lucky to get in as a wild card spot for the playoff this year.

But then again, I'm bias, I live near Atlanta and have to hear about how good they are over and over again.

I really just hate all the hype about Vick. He sucks. Period. They just can't seem to see that because he's such a merchandising platform. If Vick didn't have about 3000 endorsements, he wouldn't play.

I would say the biggest shock regarding the Seahawks so far this season is that they went and lost to two teams they should have dominated, especially the Arizona Cardinals. :bang:

I am surprised by the play of the Steelers this year. I was hoping for an 8-8 finish, but now...

Wow. It's a good time to be a Steelers fan, my friends. A good time.

I think one of the biggest suprises are the Chargers. They've been my underdog team for about three years now and they are finally going places after a bad year like last.

I must admit, the Steelers are something else. They have knocked down the 2 teams that were undefeated: the Eagles and Patriots. Got to love it. :thumb:

For me the hardest blow to take is the 49ers...ouch, I love the team and have since I was a kid but they really are hurting BAD this year and not even a number draft pick like USC's Matt Leinard or Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson can save them.

I think statistically it's the Seahawks, this is a talented team and I expected so much from them and even though their chances of getting a wild card bid are high...they won't do much damage to GB or Philly. Also, the Panthers, who represented the NFC last year have gone completely downhill.

Apparently, Leinard is no longer a choice, anyway. They do need a QB, I was really surprised when they let Garcia go to Cleveland in favor of Rattay.

They need at least two or three "franchise" players like the way Emmit, Troy, and Irvin were for the Cowboys of the 90s, Montana, Rice and Clark of the 49ers in the 80's and Dillon, Brady and Law of the Patriots today.

Yeah, Leinhart would've been sweet but I do respect the guy for sticking in college and passing up the million dollar contract.
