more family strife...

*le sigh*
Things haven't been bad necesarily lately between my family and I... but there's one thing lately that's really not fun for me...

My... best friend lives in Ohio... I in CA. We were planning so that I could go visit her this december and see if maybe... just maybe, this relationship was made to be more than meer friendship according to God's will. We're both Christians, both share the same intrests (and political party), and are in love so to speak... not only that but she's a great artist! *points to sig*

Mom was ok with me going for a while, but now she says that I can't go... and I don't see why. She says that she thinks my friend might be some internet stalker or something, despite the fact that we chat on the phone fairly often and exchange packages in the mail and stuff...

It just doesn't seem fair to me that my mother won't let me go to see someone I love for such un-based reasons. I'm an adult, so legally I could go but I have to listen to my Mom since I am still under my Dad's roof...

So please... pray that my mom and dad change their decission to let this happen... meeting her would mean a lot to me.

I'll pray for you, I know what it is like to not see a good friend for a long time... um I hope you don't mind me asking but what part of Ohio does your friend live? PM with an answer if you feel comfortable, I understand if you'd rather not say.

I can see where your mom is coming from, that's quite a distance Ohio and CA.. But sometimes you have to follow your heart. To be honest I don't have any advice on this subject because I'm no good in the "romance" deptarment. But I will pray that whatever you want to happen (i.e. meeting this girl) will go forward.

being at odds with parents is always tough, especially when it is over friends. i shall pray for you. i would say that you should respect your parents' wishes, but to help show your parents that your friend is not a stalker, maybe next time you talk on the phone with her, invite her to talk to one or both of your parents, and let them get to know her. hope all goes well.

you do have a good idea, though her and I talk on celphones rather than normal lines...

And of course I'm going to listen to my parents. I'm not gonna sneek out and buy airplane tickets if they say no... that's what I'm praying will change: their oppinion.

Well, I do have one question about the situation, have you ever met her in person? If so then I really don't get why your parents don't want you to go.

I'll pray for you but I must say I'm quite impressed that your being such a responsible person by obeying your parents while still under their roof, I can't say many other people your age would do that, I'm sure God will reward you for you honoring your father and your mother, and remember all things happen for a reason.

It's good to hear that you do plan on respecting your parents' final decision. Their decision may indeed be God's decision when it's all said and done, too.

I'll pray regarding your situation.

I will pray as well, however...are you absolutely sure you are 'in love' or are you just infatuated?

Well... I'll tell you the truth... she isn't beautiful by the world's standards... it's her beautiful, Godgiven wisdom that catches my eye... her soul's beauty... not to mention she has a beautiful singing voice

I hope you can come, oHIo is just lovely that time of year! *snicker*

Anyway, I'm sure your parents are just trying to protect you, so give them credit for that and use that in your arguments for allowing you to come. (If that doesn't work, let them know you've met several people online from oHIo - OK, don't do that, it won't help). Perhaps instead of coming to oHIo, you can have her shipped to sunny California?

I'm sure you've thought of all of that, so I will say that I will pray the Lord's will be done and that you, your parents, and your cute little Buckeye understand what that will is and how to apply it. Perhaps now is not the right time, perhaps it is.

lol...
Well, she's gonna scan her drivers licence to prove that she isn't some stalker or anything... even get a picture of her with the birthday present I sent her (a bracelet).

As for her coming to California... well... I do believe that it is customary in this country for the lady's father to meet the guy first. Even if she is a bit older than me (ah heh... that didn't stop my grandparents or my greatgrandparents!), we still feel that her dad is the smart one.

i will be praying bud...trsut God and remember...

James 4
13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
I used to "Follow" Him because i had to....now i would give everything to follow Him.

Me check it out!

Well, I can definatly see your parents doubts about letting you go, if you've neevr met her, anyways I'll pray Gods will be done.

I can easily see your pronlem and how it is affecting you. I too, have a girlfriend who lives a long way away from me. We dont even live in the same country as one another. She lives in the US and I live in the UK. Neither of us have told out parents yet, but we could be in the exact same situation that you're in now, later.

I will definnately pray for you so that you and her can meet in person.
Absence is to love as wind is to a flame. It extinguishes the little, it ignites the great.

Life is a test. It is only a test. Had this been real life you would have have been instructed where to go and what to do.

Ahh ^^; *hugs Nick*

I too respect my parents, and as he said I'm older than he is. What's struck me about him is how mature he is, and how... amazing it is how we line up. I'd always thought I wanted someone on the same spiritual Wavelenghth. Then when I became a Christian I started forming guidelines to what God expects, and he's hit every one of them.

That said, I would be on a plane to CA to see him, but for my Dad. I respect him too much to leave without consent, and I'm not going to lie about it. Also, customarily, anyone wanting to sleep over here or have me visit them would have to meet my Dad first. He is for Nick Visiting, and Mom won't be a problem either (He knows what BackGammond is!)

We also both agree - it's worth waiting for. I hope the Lord has it in mind that we should meet. But the foremost effect of our Meeting just here online is having a Strong Christian sibbling to Talk to and help build up in the Lord. That makes me very happy ^_^

Yes! Like she said, it's amazing how many levels we clicked on together... Did we mention we both write fiction on Nack the Weasel?

Ah... amazing too... we met under circumstances that I thought would bring about the end of the world...
