How do i get rid oif the coolwebsearch trojan?

Postby Kura Ookami » Tue Oct 12, 2004 10:13 am

I've got the coolwebsearch trojan and it keeps reseting my homepage. Nortan anti-virus doesnt even find it but adaware did, but whenever adaware gets rid of it it just comes back when i restart my computer. It's really annoying. Can anyone help?

I was gonna say get 'cwshredder' (just google it), and that would take care of it for you if it comes back. Worked for me.

what also works is ad-ware from lavasoft. You can download it from Download.com or at http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Another good tool is HIjack This! Though the ad-ware seems to fix about 99% of them.

I really don't understand them... Pop-ups, too. Having them harass you just makes you dislike them. They don't suddenly inspire you to buy or participate in whatever they're advertising... you just want to crush them. XD Some people get some really weird kicks out of things... like me... except I prefer not to make people want to find out where I live so that they can prevent me from ever bothering them again. XDDD
