I don't know if u can classify Elvis as a 'Band'.. just messing with u pumkin :)
Even the revised list of greatest band has a limited musical taste range... like you taste range :)

What about Louise Armstrong, or ABBA, or The Beach Boys?
I don't think you can but Elvis with the 'bands' like backstreet boys.
The BSB arn't in the same league at all. You should have bands that have stood the test of time, like the rolling stones, not flash in the pan evanesense or manufactured music like Nelly and Linkin Park.

Disclaimer: some ppl might like these artists, i dont mind them that much, but u can not have a list of classics with current 'popular'. played on the radio heaps artists. It just doesn't go.

Nice try anyway Pumkin..., like briney spears... in 10 yrs NO-ONE will know who that is. Just look at some teeny-pop artist of the same statues in the 90's, and no-one kowns who that is now.
What about The Cream/Eric Clapton. Or Genisis/Phil Collins. Whatever. Nice try anyhow :)

I hate whats your fav band of all time threads...because its not really fair to do. Many bands did huge things for the music industry. I am not going to vote...however, I will pay my respect to a few bands.

1. Nirvana. Without them...*shakes head* music sucked when they hit the scene...pure and simple.

2. Beatles. Like Nirvana they did a lot for the rock scene

3. Elvis. Same as the beatles.

4. Korn. Reformed what we consider rock...the Beatles of our time.

5.Slipknot. Fathers of nu-metal. Spawned many nice little cookie cutter copies..but nothing beats the original.

My other issue with your list. Never...ever. Should groups like Primus or Cake be ran against Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Nirvana. Its like running a Ugo against a Corvette.

Healing hands of God have mercy on our unclean souls
once again. Jesus Christ, Light of the World, burning
bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love
without condition, without beginning or an end. Here's
my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

A splitting brow forced by the thorns
His face is writhing with the pain yet it's comforting to me

Ah, well. You can't please everybody. ;)

I almost voted for The Beatles... but I voted for Jars because I listen to them more, their music is unique, and they write meaningful lyrics.

Hey shatterheart, I put a lot of bands in there just to see if poeple would vote for them. Bands like the ones you mentioned and the pop and rap.

Zane, this is a narrowminded list, cause I made up off the top of my head. If I would've taken time to research it, it would be better, but I was lazy.

Thousand foot cructh will NEVER be on any list.

I voted hands down for the Beatles. They revolutionized and influenced the music of today. Coming behind them for overall music would be Elvis and Nirvana.

DC Talk and Steven Curtis Chapman for Christian Music scene.

Brittney Spears and Backstreet Boys heavily influenced that genre of music. Even though possibly in a negative way....still developed that pop, boy band type sound.

What about Michael Jackson? I think he has way more rights to be included then DC Talk, Linkin Park, or rage agaist the machine.

Elton John, Billy Joel, Charlie Parker, Bill Withers, Cat Stevens, Meatloaf, SIMON & GARFUNKEL, this list is sooo rigged.

I voted the Beatles, plain and simple since they did so much songwriting wise and paved the format so many modern bands galvanized and used. Pink Floyd, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles were good picks.

Christian music wise I'd say Jars of Clay since they were one of the bands that brought forth Christian music into the mainstream.

Some bands that were missing which should've been on there were The Who, Yes, The Cure, Elvis Costello, Yardbirds The Doors.

Once again, This list was made of the top of my head, and I only had a few minutes to do it. I did not think it through throughly.

Overall, I gotta say The Beatles.
and c'mon, Nelly? Britney Spears? And Nsync? Ugh. There's absolutely no comparison, even though it's pretty much a matter of musical preference..

*Tackles PumpkinKoRn52 and pulls out a baseball bat* You take that back! Hehe. They're not that good. they have a few songs that are 4bs0l_00t3l_y 1337, but they have a lot of cheesy ones too. "The Alternative Song" and "This Is A Call" make my soul hurt. That guy CANNOT sing solo AT ALL, and the guitar in the background SUCKS!
Pillar on the other hand is AWESOME to the max.
