What Compelled You to Join CAA?

Postby Mr_Anderson » Sat Oct 16, 2004 11:25 pm

I know there are many "how did you find the CAA" but what obligated you to join? as for me...

the arcade and gamers section, at that time i loved flash games and videogames.

First I came just for the reviews, but I joined because I wanted to write reviews too. There just aren't enough Now and Then, Here and There reviews out there.

I'm interested in anime and manga and I wanted a Christian view on them. I found this forum via google: "Christian anime" as the keywords.
I found a link to it on Christian gaming.com site later.

I found this site via Psychoteers (great comic btw :D). I joined after seeing the art section... I draw occassionally myself, and wanted input on the pictures.

I dont really know what compelled me to join. I just felt like CAA would be a good place to be a part of and somewhere I could be completely honest about myself. And the people seemed really friendly as well.

When I first stumbled across this place I got all squealy and excited and showed all my family what I had found whilst going: "Ohmigosh, ohmigosh, isn't it COOL?!" so it would have been a crime for me not to sign up.

...Wouldn't really say compelled in my case. I was mostly curious about CAA, initially. And the forums I had been visiting were becoming rather dead anyway.

A forum for Christian anime fans... Pretty simple. Of course, I"m a big forum / newsgroup user from way back, so it was a natural move. I never thought about the fact many people just don't like message boards... (can't get either of the otaku here into CAA... -_-)

I had been dying to find a place where I could get christian perspective and information on anime/manga. This place was an answer to prayer. If I hadn't signed up, it would have been throwing a gift of God back up in his face.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

well...I had done a search of Christian reviews yugioh...and somehow I wound up here....I looked around and I was so thrilled to find a christian place that didn' bash anime. It was like a breath of fresh air....I believe I joined the same day or the next morning...I didn't waste any time joining the coolest place around! So basically....the thing that compelled me to join was just the fact that I could meet others who were Chritians and loved anime! ^_^

I had just started getting interested in anime, and my friend (olorc) told me about this place. I Joined the Caa mostly for the roleplay section; It took me a month to realize that there were other other interesting threads out there!

I'd been searching for a christian anime site for about a year with no luck. As soon as i found this site I knew it was the kinda place i'd been looking for.

I like anime, and thought it would be pretty safe to talk about it in a Christian site.

At least you can put your thoughts on here without someone disagreeing with four letter words and calling someone lower than human on some of the forums I have been on even thou they are not anime sites.

What Complelled me to join CAA? Well there are two reasons:
1) I wanted to grow spiritually
2) Wanted to meet other anime fans that were christians.

And good thing I joined, since then I've grown closer to God and met some really cool people. :jump:

I was inspired by the concept of having a place to talk about anime that was of a christian nature and well protected from immaturity and the general dredges of the world that surface in other public forum situations.

As I have previously posted elsewhere, I found out about this site from a community in Live Journal. I wanted to join because where I am from, most of the people who are very interested in anime are all either 7 years younger than I am or into the more er... um..... colorful types of anime and nothing else.

In any case, here I am, and I am happy to be here! ^__^

I have to say this. I think I was here before one time last year. :o

I was looking for anime fans that were christians. But I didn't sign up then and I kick myself for not doing it sooner. I love it, but I was afraid that I wouldn't fit in. I never been the best christian in the world and felt that I would be trouble really.

Then, this summer, I got tried of some boards that had some problems people being christian and I was dealing with some personal stuff that I really to be around people that would understand me.

So, I went back to up for this place and was mostly looking help and but guided in a way. I guess, I was guided, because I frist found this place again when I did my web search and I sign up.

Since then, I have been more happy, because I'm around people that share views that are good and uplifting. I'm around people that like anime and are christians too. I guess I found my home away from home.
