What makes you happy?

I'm not sure if we had a thread like this before so I decided to make one. All you have to do is post the things that make you happy.

- Barbecue
- friends
- enchiladas
- playing guitar
- soccer (sadly, I can no longer play. But it still makes me happy)
- miracle whip
- good grades
- the thought that after this year, I can get the heck out of this town
- Papa John's Hawaiian Barbecue pizza
- playing Barbies (Yes, I'm 19 and I play with Barbies. I'm not ashamed.)
- playing Barbies with my little sister
- good music and going to shows
- youth group on Wednesdays
- sugar
- good hamburgers
- writing poems
- being an aunt (check out Icky's sig.)
- making people laugh and smile
:rock: I mourn for those who never knew you

-meeting people who love God as well
-animals
-my cats Chii (Siamese) and Gandalf (black short haired domestic)
-manga

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close

Mmmmm... Just the list for me to write today! Kind of a Sound of Music thing, I'm here on Monday... after an insomnic night... preparing for my late-night class. FUN. So, therapeutic writing!!!

-Getting up from prayer and feeling the "warm fuzzies," even if my prayer was just crushed begging for stronger faith (anyone else fnd themselves asking for that a lot?)

-Walking out of my school, feeling the temperature change, and closing my eyes against real light for the first time today...

-Sleeping so deeply that I awake to find my dog in my armpit, and have no recollection of his leap onto my bed. Nothing to do with the dog - it's just sleeping that deeply!

-A letter in the mail, just for me, that's not a bank statement! (them things be depressing during tuition season!)

-A dollar in my pocket, earmarked for the used books store....... Ahhhh....

-A small packet of fries with two packages of honey mustard BBQ sauce. Who eats ketchup when there's honey mustard to be had??

-An unexpected A on a paper... I'm getting one back tonight, and I heard this afternoon that they're being graded extremely harshly (something about, "I was docked to a B- for WORD CHOICE!"), so this one is wishful thinking. First paper of the semester, what can I say?

-Footsteps on the stairs leading to my door.

-Phone calls that involve long, involved extrication processes before hanging up...

-CHOCOLATE

-Kisses from my dog.

-Reviews on my writing, be it online or in Creative Writing class. Feedback hound that I am...

-Kidding around with my boss, in person or over E-mail (from the next door office).

-Working for my Pastor, and talking his ear off while he tries to write up this week's bulletin... He loves me deep down... :)

-Singing in the car, be it The Monkees, Aerosmith, or Celtic music.

-Posting on CAA!!!

I feel much better, thanks for reading!

I'm going to take "happy" as being happy in a simplistic way, so things like "playing SH4" are out. In that case:

 • Being appreciated for my work... I mean, really appreciated
 • Being sincerely and meaningfully apologized to when I've been hurt.
 • Loving physical contact from someone I trust, such as a shoulder rub or a hug or fingers through my hair, or EDIT like Eirewolf, Cuddling, but that requires something even more special and I'm not going to expect that for a while...
 • Really being able to help someone learn something.

That's all I can think of right now.

:: Jesus
:: My depression medication (XD)
:: Talking with fellow Christians (you guys rock!)
:: My best friend (and cousin) in the whole wide world
:: My dogs
:: Curling up in a warm chair on a rainy day with a good book/manga, listening to the rain-drops on the roof (I'm waxing poetic here)
:: Writing html code (feels nerdyness eminating from her)
:: Comparing my old drawings with my new ones and seeing the improvement
:: When a friend says hi and asks me how I'm doing
:: The feeling you have after getting good exercise
:: Watching old Disney movies, playing with dollhouses and indulging in other nostalgic childish pleasures
:: My computer
:: Life in general ^_^

Thanks for starting this topic, it really makes me realize how blessed I am. I know people who if you asked them what makes them happy, they might say anything. I'll definitely pray for them more often now.

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Our Generation is in a spiritual warfare between Believers and Satan.

Pro-Life Youth Pledge

We are a loud and determined voice for Truth and Life in this culture of death. We stand on the truth of Jesus Christ whom all of our strength comes from. We stand for the protection of all human life from conception (fertilization) until natural death, with no exceptions, no compromise, and no apologies. We are fed up with the lies that MTV, Planned Parenthood and our government are pushing down our throats. We will no longer sit silently by as our generation is being systematically slaughtered through surgical and chemical abortion. This is OUR generation, these are OUR brothers and sisters and we commit to fighting for their lives. You will not silence our message, you will not mock our God, and you will stop killing our generation!

Verse of the Week: "As the body without spirit is dead, so faith without deed is dead." --James 2:26 NIV
