Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Postby BrianC » Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:43 pm

I don't own this game yet, but Final Fantasy Tactics Advance just came out for GBA. I loved the PSX game, but this one is a completely new game. However, it still sounds awesome. New races and different classes for each one, a new style of battles with special rules, and many other cool sounding features make me interested in playing. The reviews seemed to be positive too. I'm also excitied that another Square game is coming to a Nintendo system in the US. Is anyone getting this game?

Definately! But first, I need a GBA. I'm looking very forward to the paladin class, hopefully they haven't changed anything from the original paladin class in FFT, maybe they'll even have the Holy Swordsman, that would rock!

You can count on it! (when, I get money, lol) It's the next one on my list. Hey, Sangoku, get a GBA SP! It's total sweetness! My friend has one, I'm getting a black around the end of this year.

Yeah, same here, but I'm trying my best not to have over the top expectations. That leaves a big gap for disappointment, but hey it's FF right?

BTW, I heard the average game time ranges in between 50 to 175 hours!

I got the game today after class (or maybe i skipped my last class to get it... *shhh..*). it looks great, i first popped it into the GameCube, GBA player and checked it out on the big screen. Good graphics, lots of new stuff added to it compared to the PS1 game. the Major ones being "Laws" its like conditions for victory and stuff from previous games, but there is like a "Judge" on screen and if you break the rules you get a card, yellow or red. if your violation is bad enough you get sent to prison. :) Also, as mentioned there are races in it, certain races naturally can make better job types. so get all sorts of people. finally, it says that you learn your skills/abilities based on the armor and weapons you use, so get a bunch.
i also like the "intro battle" that most all games have, it is like the very first thing so it won't ruin anything its just set up as a 'snowball fight' at your school. (remembers "throw rock" command of squires... how 'bout throw snowball. :))
Also if any of you are familiar with the Square game "Legend of Mana" for PS1?? Well you get to choose where to place certain places, what effects placement might have i am unsure of but i am sure it has something to do with it like in LoM. so yes tons of stuff and tons of secrets/replay value. i read one review that said you could get 300+ hours out of it, if you kept playing over and finding all the secrets for yourself. well later. *runs off to play FFTA*

I got FFTA early this afternoon. I'm liking it so far.
The "Law" system does indeed provide an interesting twist in the gameplay.

I meant to post this quite awhile ago, anyways I have FFTA. Great game, so far. It is a little overwhelming, hard to get into at first, and I can't seem to play it for a longtime, without getting bored. I mean, if you played Knight of Lodis this kinda seems like a FF mod for it. Still, I love the game, but it's to early to give my final word on it.

I would have to agree with Link. It is very overwhelming at first, although fun, and having never played FFT, I am slightly confused about alot of things, :( but I am getting it.

Its a great game been playing it for 36hours now and im not even half way done. the judge really ticks me off but easily by walking around until the law changes.
I n September of 2012 Megaroad-01 was launched with an escort of fleet of zentraedi warships. From that point on the mass-production of the Megaroad -class colony ship began and soon long-range colony fleets were routinely being launched from earth solar system at a rate of 1-2 per year.
In September of 2022 Megaroad-19 colony ship with it’s escort fleet left earth and headed south fifteen degrees to the right of the southern star. On a mission with three objection; One to search for a planet to colonize, two to see what the rim of the galaxy looks like, three to see if any zentraedi fleets are out there. On July 21, 2025 Megaroad-19 entered its ninth star system and named it the sierra system.
Orbiting the third planet is an asteroid that was some ten miles in size, and a moon that was named Karla.

For most of the game, the laws are simple and easy to get around.(Prohibition on the "Protect" spell, like that's going to be a big problem :eyeroll: )

Late in the game however, the laws can get more challenging to get around. Laws against Fight,Katanas,Holy,Sabers and others and three of them at a time. :
