HI Everyone!!

Postby dragonshimmer » Sat Sep 25, 2004 10:46 am

Hey there, all! My name is Hope, and I'm a 23 year old fan girl! I'm also a Christian! I know everyone here has probably said it a thousand times over and over, but I'm thrilled that a site like this exists! I knew there HAD to be people out there like me, but I just couldn't find them. Now I have. I'm also glad to see that there's a wide range of ages here, because sometimes, people kind of grow up with anime, although it doesn't happen often, and it's good to see people who are just like how I will be a couple of years down the road.

Anyway, I first started watching anime about 6 years ago. My first series was DragonballZ, during the Saiyan Saga. Yeah, you all remember that, right? :hits_self Anyway, I actually really like it, and my best friend introduced me to some other mainstream anime like Sailor Moon and Tenchi in Tokyo. From there I started watching Lodoss Wars. I completely fell in love with anime when I started watching Fruits Basket, and from there, it was all a whirlwind of lovey dovey stories, amazing story lines, wonderful animation, beautiful girls and pretty boys. I also decided that I was going to marry Hotohori from Fushigi Yugi about 3 months ago, so we're working on our engagement ;)

God found me when I was about 15 years old. I had been baptized when I was 12, but I didn't make the decision from the heart because I was forced into the situation. One New Year's Eve, around midnight, I realized what it was all about, and I've been trying to be the best Christian I can ever since. I don't know many people my age who are like me....I'm pretty special in a lot of ways. That's why I'm glad I found this community...because maybe now I can meet more people like me. I think my walk with God has been pretty close, and I hope to continue to do so.

I'm a full time student at a local University and I am pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance. In short, I'm an aspiring opera singer. Sometimes I think I might have what it takes...sometimes I think maybe I just wasted a few years of my life! One day, maybe I'll be singing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. I also work part time at a local piano store. I'm a piano sales woman, and it's the best job I've ever had! Too bad I don't get commission :waah!:

Anyway, I'm also a HUGE video game person....I LOVE video games, and I like to talk about them after I've played them. I also read a lot of fantasy novels. My apartment is decorated with dragons, oriental things, swords, knives and....ANIME.

Well, I guess I've written close enough to a novel about myself for today. It's nice to join this place, and hopefully I'll make some friends along the way!

Love!
Hope

Hi Hope! Welcome to CAA! I hope you feel very welcome and have lots of fun posting here.

Fruits Basket is awesome. I'm a guy, and it's still one of my favorite anime series. Tohru is so awesome, as well as Yuki (if you couldn't guess from my avatar :) ). My sister is (sadly) a Kyo fan...Oh well. :)

So what are your favorite video games? Favorite operas? Pieces to sing? You have a cool testimony, by the way. I know what you mean about being special and different from most people.

Feel free to contact me or challenge me in the Arcade anytime. I'm not that great, but I always enjoy a challenge...

Hey! Thanks for responding! I'm sure I'll have LOTS of fun here!

Fruits Basket is one of my top favorite animes as well; Naruto comes around the same area :) I cry every single time I watch it....it's such a wonderful story. Too bad the world isn't full of Tohru Hondas, although we all have a little of her in us. You know, the first time I watched FB, Yuki was the man....boy, whatever, but after that....I only have eyes for Kyou. I guess we can't be friends. Hmph ;) Just kidding.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kingdom Hearts...that game caused me to miss ENTIRELY too many days of class, and I cried at the end. I'm such a sap. I also have most of the music from the game. It comes out fairly soon! WOOOO! Some friends and I are going to have a "Kingdom Hearts 2" unveling event! I also really like the Silent Hill series and I like Fatal Frame. I'm a big horror game fan. They creep me out. I just need to learn not to play them late at night! :eh: I tried Clocktower 3, and I LOVE the story line, but the game play is horrible. I haven't finished it yet, and I've had it for over a year.

I don't really have a favorite opera, I guess....I love Carmen and Cosi Fan Tutte. My favorite art songs and such are Five Mystical Songs by Vaughan Williams, a set of songs set to religious poetry-one about the joy of loving the Lord, one about how even the sun can not contest with the arising of the Son, one about coming to God, one about God being the way, the truth and the life, and the last one about rejoicing. The poetry is AMAZING, and I can't sing the salvation one without crying a little sometimes, which is bad, because it's on my Junior Recital next week! :wow!:

We can both be different together! :)

Well, I'm feeling talkative today...sorry about that-hey, so what about you? What's your story?

Thanks for commenting!

Love!

Yeah, you can't go wrong with my decorating strategy ;) One day, I'm going to load my photobucket account with pictures of my apartment...I'm so proud!

You should watch Fruits Basket....it's a little girly sometimes, but every person that I've ever met that has watched it has really enjoyed it. My best friend's fiancee just decorated his room with some FB wall scrolls and quotes and stuff. So....WATCH it and get in the loop, eh?? So, how about that Naruto?! :thumb:

Hope to get to know you better and thanks for the welcome!

AAH!!! I love Fruits Basket! (I haven't seen the anime yet. I'm waiting for the box set!) But I'e read the first 5 volumes of the manga half a dozen times!

Well, what mangas do you read?

BTW, you can call me Osaka. In time, everyone will.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hi and welcome dragonshimmer! You wrote a wonderful short bio and I hope to see you post more around here. A vocal major sounds very interesting. Do you sing solos at your church?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Hi! You're the same age I am! That's rare around here, to have this interest in people around our age.

I LOVE Petrof. It's a hand made piano from the Czech Republic. I like Steinway, but I don't think it's as great as everyone else does. It's all a matter of preference of sound really. Yamaha's good too, but Petrof has amazing touch, and the sound in the treble is so crisp and bell like. Plus, many piano technicians say it's one of the easiest pianos to tune and work on.

Piano player by any chance??
